The characters are all looking fun so far!  I will give it a couple more days then close this thread and figure things out.

Should I go ahead and make one of those in a bit more detail? Or both?

It looks like there is more interest in a group of women, so if you are interested a character in that direction might fit better.

If there's still room, would you be more interested in seeing a xenobiolitist adventuring medic who uses a needle pistol to sedate foes and heal friends?  Or the king of guy/girl who brings a bow to a gun fight?

I will give it a few more days, so you can certainly toss in a concept.  I don't have a preference either way though.

Mn, this certainly seems up my alley.  I’m still working my way through the corebook, so I can’t get too specific just yet, but one idea does recommend itself to me.

A Gynoid Priestess Technomancer who joins the expedition to spread the influence of her church/cult.  If left to my own devices, I’d probably go with a cult focused around an ancient AI that has grown to encompass a world’s core and learned to be a caster in its own right.  A Pretender God at the moment, it’s spreading its Cult to try and establish a Divine Portfolio for itself.

Hopefully I can dig up a pic of a Reverend Custodiers with a black coat and hood to turn up the "nun" vibe a bit.

Re Z L

I'm planning to have a rough skeleton put together soon-ish (at least by later tonight).

Unless something else catches my eye, it'll be an Android Operative (Theme undecided).

Quasar

I'll tentatively put my hat it, though it's going to depend on how much free time I find myself with in RL.  Also, still familiarizing myself with the changes to the system.

Will probably go with a Themeless Lashunta Solarian.

Here's the beginning of the sheet:  https://www.myth-weavers.com/sheet.html#id=1317740

Still undecided on the theme, kind of looking at Bounty Hunter, Ace Pilot, and Spacefarer.

If we're sharing character sheets here's the one I wrote up a while ago while I waited.

I have not made an sheet yet, but will do one quickly if my consept character is approved.

I haven't found the Chracter Flaws option yet.  Does anyone know where I should look?

Pg 19.

To sum it up "You can start with fewer character points if you like, even bringing yourself below values of 8.  You don't get anything for it though."

Muse

Oh?  So i cant, say, drop my wisdom from 10 to 8 to get 2 extra for charisma?  That sucks.

Good to see you again, by the way.  IIRC it's been quite a while.

Afraid not, though to be fair, Starfinder's point buy is pretty forgiving.  No escalating costs for higher numbers, for one thing.  Some people go a little crazy about the fact that there's no way to array your numbers so that you don't have an odd score hanging around though.

Yeah, it has been a while.  I got caught up in things on other sites, and then RL got crazy for a while.  With the Eclipse over and autumn on the way though, things have been chilling out for me though.  Thought I'd cycle back to try and get in the mix.

Peeping in real quick! Peep!

The real complaint about the odd ability score is that it does nothing because of how ability score increases work: specially, the cost of increasing from 16 to 18 is the same as the cost of increasing from 17 to 18. If you could have an ability score at 19, the odd one would matter, but as written, it always would have to pass through that barrier at some point and thus always goes away at the end of the day.

If ability drain works the same way as it does in Pathfinder (as opposed to like ability damage in Pathfinder), then the odd point matters in that case. The fringe case I know exists is that it can help you qualify for feats, which exclusively require odd stat numbers like 13 or 15.

So that is the origin of the complaints some people have with the +1 for theme. This has been Anne ranting about game mechanics. <.<

Hmm...

So far, I've created 2 Lashutans.

Would it be a cop out this early in the game to make a gnome?  (Or maybe an elf?)

*  *  *

Edit:  It seems we have no shortage of techncians and combat capable aplicants.  I also see one spellcaster--a technomancer--I think I'll look into mystic and see if it tickles my fancy.

Concept will be forthcoming, but I think that this girl is an android.  Her body was constructed as a pleasure slave.  Not long ago, the last soul to inhabit this body passed on and she came online in it.  She is traveling a spiritual path contemplating the nature of Android existence.  She believes in the logical concluision that sexualit is an organic foible, and her species has no need of it.  It should hold no power over her.

I trust she will soon learn how wrong she is.  ;)

Odd points also matter for non mechanical reasons... having 11 in Intelligence is a character who might have a slight aptitude for learning but never actually had any formal education, a character with a 9 in strength would just be slightly weaker than average, but not to the extent that they are noticeably weak by most. I like having odd stats to help communicate who my character is rather than just having them as a list of statistics and skills.

I... hesitate to actually take mechanics like attributes and directly relate them to fluff to that degree. There's plenty of space to fluff things up with! I don't want to be limited to something with a direct mechanic nature! I don't see how that communicates any different information than the bonuses themselves do. Honestly, the odd stat bonus feels like a holdover from 3.5e more than anything else - it probably also relates to when the Starfinder ability buy was different (as implied by Alien Contact).

I am going to lock things and send a PM to those who I have accepted.  Sorry to everyone I didn't accept and thank you for your interest, I just want to keep things small for now.
