Rise of the Sultan

Constantinople, The Ottoman Empire, 2023

The Ottoman Empire is successfully able to reform itself in the 18th century and avoid its decline. Parting away with territories of Algeria, Tunisia, Balkans in successive losses of territories, it stopped the decline in early 19th century and most importantly, managing to defend its sovereignty during World War I due to timely reform and modernization and avoiding entering World War II the Ottoman Empire emerges as a much more stronger and vital force in Post-WWII order. It is still large, almost deemed as unwieldy empire and remains monarchy, successfully eliminating any prospect of a democratic revolution or notions of republicanism.

It still remains an empire mired in contrasts as it seeks to modernize itself further and become an industrial and technological superpower by reducing its dependence on agriculture, conventional resource based exports by venturing into fourth industrial revolution technology and an overall progressive agenda while also maintaining its traditional stance. The modernization drive by the new Sultan has ruffled feathers but one that shows no signs of abating as the empire that has survived for centuries seems to be shapeshifting, morphing into a much more potent force that it has ever been again.

The Sultan

Sultan Nesrine al-Bitar

Name: Nesrine al-Bitar
Titles: Sultan Nesrine al-Bitar, Sovereign of the Sublime House of Osman, Sultan of Sultans, Khan of Khans, Custodian of the Holy Cities of Mecca, Medina & Jerusalem, Caesar of Rome, Padishah of the Three Cities of Constantinople, Edirne & Bursa and of the cities of Damascus, Cairo and Tripoli.
Age: 26 Years

Hair: Black
Gender: Female
Sexuality: Bisexual
House: House of Osman
Address: Your Imperial Majesty, My Sultan
Residence: Topkapi Palace, Constantinople, Ottoman Empire

Brief History: The lone child of Late Sultan Hamid al-Bitar and his first wife Noor al-Yassin, Nesrine had a privileged upbringing and finest education. But also, she was expected to be demure and her father tended to favor his nephews and other men of their extended family. She was rarely seen in public unlike extended public profiles of other men of her family.

When Hamid al-Bitar died due during a plane crash, panic and uncertainty gripped the Empire as it seemed a succession battle might be looming given the only heir, Nesrine was likely to be sidelined. She was 18 at the time and in tandem with vizier Hakan and her mother through machinations in Topkapi, Nesrine successfully sidelined everyone else quite ruthlessly, culminating in her coronation as the first female Sultan in 2018, deliberately taking the male title so as to assert and impress that her authority is as powerful as a man.

She’s a progressive woman who feels Ottoman Empire is in need of second reformation while also ensuring that monarchy would continue to hold on to its power. Her desire to get rid of what she sees as obsolete ways but in an incremental manner, as much as her youthfulness might propel her to be more aggressive. But above all, she’s a proud and powerful ruler who will not hesitate to make a tough decision when it is demanded of her.

I am looking to play the Sultan in a story involving grand scope. One that shall have palace intrigue, a touch of geopolitics, high drama, some deliciously sinful shenanigans from Sultan's harem as she goes about building it and so forth. The scope here is endless I feel!

Anyone interested, please drop me and let's build something fun together!
