Idea, a pirate/treasure hunter is racing to steal a magical artifact being transported on a ship owned by the Royal arcane University. (could be a naval vessel or a skyship) Likely the property of one of it's senior magisters. This artifact has many layers of protections on it and the entire convoy was being targeted by a small squadron of pirate captains who banded together to loot this valuable magical cargo.

One captain was a little more ambitious than the others and raced ahead through the escorts towards the main prize. Now the various captains made an agreement to capture & ransom this incredibly valuable cargo and split the spoils. But unsurprisingly, pirates are pirates. Thieves, liars and worse, And a thief's word is worth just about as much as you'd expect.

After slipping through the other vessels, boarding the main cargo vessel and fighting through it's many magical defences the intrepid pirate captain claims the artifact and makes off into the horizon. Leaving the other pirate captains in the dust behind him.

After some time spent hiding, running and shaking off pursuers our anti-hero returns to his personal base. A small lawless port on the edge of civilization that few bother to visit where he can inspect his ill gotten gains.

As he works to open the magically sealed strongbox, having previously spent an incredible amount of coin paying for wands and scrolls from wizards to dismantle all of the deadly arcane wards and other magic curses placed upon it. This process itself takes several days to perform, but He finally lays his hands on the artifact itself. It's beautiful, it's golden, it looks unbelievably expensive, as if it could set up him, his children and his grandchildren up for life!

But alas, in his eagerness he was so focused on opening the strongbox he forgot to check for curses on the artifact itself. This curse wasn't deadly, probably just one last 'fuck you' from an archmage who was no doubt having a good laugh when he came up with the idea. He almost didn't notice the changes to his body immediately, he was so focused on picking up the artifact and admiring it. He didn't notice that the fingers that held the artifact had become more slender, softer, as were his wrists and arms. His clothes in general felt much more baggy yet tight around the chest. Suddenly the artifact felt even heavier to hold, and as he looked into the artifacts reflective golden surface, he saw a familiar but distinctly more feminine face than he remembered staring back at him.

The last curse, the last defence of the royal magisters, was a simple one. They probably never actually thought anyone would manage to steal this artifact, and get past all the wards on the strongbox and still be alive. They probably just put this curse on there to stop over curious university students from touching things they shouldn't be, and to serve as a mild, albiet humorous punishment for their classmates and faculty to enjoy.

Just as the pirate captain was in the middle of panicking, rushing to the mirror to see the extent of the 'damage' this curse had done, the ground beneath him started to quake, and the air was filled with the sound of cannon. This port was under attack! Rushing the the window our anti-hero recognizes the flags and ships of two of his fellow captains, two of the other men he betrayed during the convoy raid weeks earlier. Apparently this port wasn't as poorly known as he had thought.....

But even worse than that, clashing with the pirate vessels was another squadron. This one of sleek, impeccably clean royal navy frigates. It seems the arcane university called in favours with the crown, or demanded assistance in retrieving their property. How they found this place is anyone's guess. Regardless the anti-hero turned anti-heroine is caught in a terrible position and needs to think fast to keep her head.

OOC:

So this is an idea I just kinda had recently. Like really recently, about an hour and a half ago by the time I posted this. Believe it or not this entire idea was inspired just by this short, but excellent little doodle by Telepurte (his animations are great). It just came to me and I thought it would make for a fun story. Lots of adventure, action, fantasy and romance potential.

Basically a young pirate captain steals an invaluable magical cargo from a powerful arcane institution. This artifact had one final 'fuck you' curse put on it by a magister who was probably drunk at the time they had thought of it. But someone who touched the artifact without the proper protections would be transformed into the opposite sex.

Now as light hearted as that concept of this curse is, the artifact is valuable. Incredibly so, and the wizards want it back immediately. They don't care how many pirates need to die to make it happen.

Our hero/heroine is initially stuck in a real bind. Just as he is transformed into a she, her previously safe port comes under attack from the very 'co-workers' she screwed over to get the artifact. Add to that, the royal navy has somehow tracked her down, no doubt to arrest and execute her.

But she has a key advantage on her side, and unexpected boon. No one else knows about the curse, and it's highly unlikely anyone would immediately recognize her face unless they were very familiar with her from before the curse. The only ones who might are her fellow captains and former crew.

For a pairing I personally am thinking that the pairing for this idea ends up being our heroine and the royal navy commander leading the squadron. He being the least likely to recognize her face, at least she assumes. But I think it would also be funny if she recognized him as a pirate hunter of some renown. Maybe had a close run in or two with in the past, but never fought face to face.

During the chaos of this three way attack many things happen plot wise. The port is ruined and sacked, the rival pirates manage to steal the artifact in the chaos and make away with it. Our heroine likely finds out that her crew betrayed her and that's how her rivals found out about the secret port. And the Royal navy showed up because the wizards were able to scry and track the artifact at least for a while before it's various wards and protections were gradually removed. But it lasted long enough to narrow the search area.

Now our heroine will need to come up with some likely lie about her identity rather than admit she is a known pirate captain with a felony record as long as her arm that could see her locked away for life, if not hung by the neck. But also somehow convince this commander to let her travel with him in pursuit of the artifact and not just hand her off at the nearest port as a lady in distress, captured and abused by pirates.

Now naturally there are some details to be worked out, like the nature of the artifact, the various different pirate captains. High vs low magic and other things like fantasy races, etc. Personally I view this in my head as a largely human world that happens to have a lot of magic. And more 'age of sail' than steampunk with gears and pipes and whatnot. But i'm open to discussing those kinds of details.

Basically this is the story of a daring young pirate captain who found himself cursed into becoming a woman and very much wants to reverse this curse, and a naval officer tasked with cleaning up this whole mess and bringing every pirate involved to justice.

And because this is E, eventually working so closely together will lead to things happening between our characters.

There are more motivations and whatnot to be discussed, Personally i'm looking to play the naval officer in this pairing
