I am absolutely hooked on this game at the moment, so I'm wondering who else is and how far you've gotten? I'm not very far in the vanilla game, having only managed to get through the Darkest Dungeon only once so far. My favorite heroes are the Leper and Abomination, but honestly they're all great.

Antiquarian's probably bottom of my list though.

Also trying to figure out how to make a tabletop system based on it. Saw a Zweihander homebrew google doc, but it's incomplete, and I'm very new to using that system.

While I studied the game quite intensely, I've never really gotten that far into it. Only defeated three bosses so far (Necromancer, Prophet and Hag). And then I just moved on to other games I guess.

I do remember my favorites used to be the Bounty Hunter, Jester and Man-at-arms. I don't know what it was with Lepers for me, but bastards missed like 80% of the attacks they made.

While I didn't really make a system for this game once, I did once use Darkest Dungeon as an inspiration to revamp the madness system present in D&D 5e. That one was received quite well by my players.

Jester's a pretty interesting one. I still need to get a handle for how to use him best as I never used one that had the move 'Finale'. Man-at-Arms is great as an aggro shield, I suppose you could say. I really like activating Riposte. Bounty Hunter takes some getting used to, but he's useful.

Glad to hear the game was a great inspiration for your tabletop!

Was totally hooked on it as well for a couple of weeks this January (or was it February). Awesome game. Really looking forward to the second one!

And really need to write something inspired by Darkest Dungeon at some point ;D
PM box is open. So is my discord: Sain#5301

Jester and Bounty Hunter work better in parties that synergize with them. For a finale jester you want a party that has it own movement moves to allow them to get back into position, once he finales.

Bounty Hunter works best with teams that can either mark for him or benefit from his marking. Arbelist hound master, duelist, or if you're feeling sassy occultist.

I don't much care for the DLC. It add in enough that I don't want to play without it, but the main draws of both of them just tend to add to the grind. Crimson Court and Color of Madness's main mechanics just... I think they just missed the mark.
If you're searching the lines for a point, well you've probably missed it; there was never anything there in the first place.

I just saw the trailer for the second game, I'm both scared and excited. I really like the potential for character development storylines in Darkest Dungeon, which is why I'm working on a DnD 5e homebrew.

I'm quite fond of Darkest Dungeon--my favorite heroes are the Flagellant, the Plague Doctor, and the Crusader, all for super different reasons. (I like the control over various debuffs the Flagellant gives me, I like Blighting things so Plague Doctor is my jam for that, and the Crusader is just my favorite front-line attacker...and I can never resist a holy knight, heh!) The Abomination is pretty interesting--but I never did quite get a handle on my party's stress management when it came to the Abomination, sadly!

If you ever get a homebrew tabletop system worked out for this & if you were to ever run it on Elliquiy, I'd love to play. :)
Come now, swing wide those gates!
'Cause I have paid my penance kindly well in time for judgment day.
Somehow I knew my fate.
Turns out the gods we thought were dyin' were just sharpening their blades.
Have you been waitin' long...
...for me...?

I'm considering it, but the only way I'd feel comfortable doing so at the moment is purely over forums, which I wouldn't know how to do effectively yet.
