(Not sure if this is the right place to put it, but....)

Everyone's had these, whether tabletop or PBP, great moments where either you, or characters you were running accomplished great feats. I'll start us off.

In one game me I ran, the characters were facing off against a Lich in a 24-style countdown. The Lich was trying to summon a dead God, which by that world's mythology, would have none of the restrictions placed upon themselves by the gods, so... bad things) and the players were trying to prevent it, with only 24 hours to do so. The major difficulty was that they didn't know where the Lich was going to summon the dead God. With a few hours left, they entered a temple where they expected to find something to lead them to the correct location. It was a trap. In the most epic battle I ever ran, the entire party battled the lich for enough rounds that the duration of the "fly" spell originally cast on the party (1d4+20 rounds) wore off. The fight was almost ended when the Lich cast chain lightning down a long hall, but the Cleric pulled a divine intervention (natural 100 roll) that countered the spell, healed the entire party to maximum, and restored all their spell slots. The most epic bit, which I forgot, and is the reason for this edit, is that early in the battle, the Lich polymporphed the altar in the Temple into a rhinoceros, which proceeded to go crazy, smashing through walls and floors and ceilings, disrupting spells and causing chaos.

Eventually, they did stop the Lich with 7 minutes left.

I ran the tomb of horrors once and everybody died without even getting inside. One of the false entrances (at least in the 1E version) kinda requires a disintegration spell, and their mage didn't have it prepared, and when he tried to read it out of a spell book in desperation, it suffered a catastrophic failure.)

In one D&D game I was playing, in which I was a player, I was a Cleric of Light, and we were fighting a Vampire, the main villain of the whole campaign. I was the first to act in the combat by everyone else rolling terribly in initiative. I used my enhanced sun beam against him when we finally met him. Killed him in one critical hit. Dealt over 100 damage in a single round. Kind of an anti-climax, but the adventure to that point had been a lot of fun.

What stories do you have?
