So... I'm kind of a fan of meteor showers, and I was just wondering what sorts of cool things some of you may have seen during meteor showers. (Or outside of meteor showers. Sometimes there are cool things.)

I remember being out in the Diamond Lakes wilderness on a hike during the Perseid Meteor Shower, a hundred miles from any town capable of producing light pollution, looking up at the sky and having some vague concept of the enormity of the universe, watching the meteor storm.

I remember one big one, flashing from horizon to horizon with a noise like a zipper being done up on a coat, easily the biggest one of the night. But there were hundreds of them... watching the sky, seeing them come in every so often....

Maybe this belongs in a different thread, but I wanted everyone to be able to share any cool experiences (they don't have to be meteor showers) to do with astronomy. No opinions, no discussion just... "oh, that's cool, let me tell you about...."
