I did a search, though it's always possible I missed it. If there really isn't a Gorean RP going on, I must say, that's very surprising. I did see a few solo and 1on1s, but nothing near the scope of what I was thinking. You see, I believe that a really good Gorean community could take root here if we encourage it's growth and maturation. I've seen what buzzen and imvu have to offer Goreans, and I am convinced that with a bit of effort, they could be blown completely out of the water. The amount of variety is just astounding, and it has almost everything for everyone.

For those unfamiliar with Gor, it is the setting of a long running series of books by one John Norman. Many of the books may be hard to find, but many websites have them for download. If you read this and are interested, pm me. I'll give you what I got, and eventually post that info if there's enough interest. I will give a basic rundown though.

A good Gorean rp has many facets. Gorean warriors are masters of armed, mounted, and naval combat. They fight wars, guard the peace, and protect those that can afford their services. They may not be as educated as an Earth man or Gorean scribe, but there is no such thing as an old, stupid warrior. If they aren't witty, they are at least bright and cunning.

Gorean slaves, kajira (women) and kajirus (men) are a major facet. Any woman looking to get it on with a Conan expy that owns her heart, mind, and body, this is your RP.

Merchants and scribes offer a multitude of non-violent, non-overtly sexual characters. Buy low, sell high, and hope pirates or bandits don't make off with more than the planned acceptable losses calculated for your caravans. Alternately, become a teacher, lawyer, scholar, or the first man those in power go to when they need answers and options.

Assassins are a mix of combat and rp, but should also be treated with great care. Yes, your job is to kill people, but few outside your caste are really ok with that. It's a fine line between being a total badass, or a total jerkass. But you get to skulk in the shadows and wear lots of black.

Free women can be frosty witches yearning for the collar in their hearts, or just frosty witches. They are smart, sharp, and possibly more dangerous than their men, but it is a dangerous game they play. They must protect themselves and trust the arms that wield the swords of their guards. One mistake, and all their plans and machinations could see them with a branded thigh and standing atop an auction block. If they are a lower caste though, their chances for responsible fun open up considerably, but they still live in a world where every man that they don't call family could be fitting them for a collar with their eyes.

Then there are all the different cultures. You have the urban Goreans, loosely based on the Greeks and Romans. There are the wagon peoples, Mongolian like herders of giant oxen creatures. Or the Torvaldslanders, Vikings and pirates that are on the front lines of a war against bestial invaders from space. The Native American red savages, and the Arabian Tahari also provide numerous settings, changes of pace... and enemies.

I think at first it might be best to start small and then expand according to interest levels. If enough people get involved, we could hypothetically get an entire world going. A city may be a bit more attainable though.

Of course, much depends on format. This would be my first time doing a Gorean rp outside a chatroom. However, my experiences with those has been universally negative. If we can get something going on the forums, that be awesome, but I am open to moving it to chat if it's agreed as the best option. If that happens, I have some ideas I'll get into at that point.

I'd prefer all those interested leave a post here instead of pming me, just to keep things centralized. Again, I'll provide clarification and whatever information I have on hand. Just ask, ok?

Hope y'all like this idea!

lorcan

Hmm im familiar with this setting and could be very interesting and i think if your going to start an rp in this its best to start with everyone from the same home stone. As a former member of a Gorean home in a chat room on pal talk id love to be involved with starting one from the ground up to avoid the pit falls of the homes  i have seen and be able to draw together healthy well adjusted people that would be able to  show proper considerations and I was the Magistrate of my old home and would hope to start one here and provide a positive Gorean experience that can be fun and enjoyable.

Meister

Sounds good. So far that's two men, one definite woman, and one possible woman. Awesome. The one possible woman was hoping to find a kajirus so she could play Free Woman, but if nobody volunteers, she may go kajira as well. Just depends on how things go. I think we can easily fit in a few more people and then get to hashing details out, so please, guys, feel free to post here or PM me.

lorcan

Sounds good to me, hope we attract more peopel.

bloodrose

Here's my character sheet, if you think this would work

Name Penny Turner
Age 22
Gender Female
Human or Other (if Other, details please) Human
Slave or Free? She thinks of herself as free
Profession (for the free) On earth she was studying to be a furniture designer
Appearance
Penny is a pretty girl, but perhaps doesn’t make the best of herself, because she thinks of herself as ordinary.  She has long medium brown hair, pretty brown eyes and what she thinks of as an average figure, although she doesn’t realise how the curves she has are in all the right places.  She usually wears baggy clothes, which don’t show off her figure to the best advantage, but underneath she is shapely and with the right makeover would turn heads anywhere, but she isn’t that sort of girl, she’s quite happy to be in the background, and to go unnoticed.

Background  The youngest of a family of three sisters, she is the quiet studious one.  Her older two sisters were quite stunning, and have done very well for themselves, one marrying a high-flying lawyer, now living in New York, and the other with a reasonably successful modelling career in California.  Penny catches up with them from time to time, but finds them both self-centred since their parents died suddenly in a car crash.  Penny was left her parents’ house and together with the cut of a substantial insurance pay out, she is comfortable, if not wealthy.  She has enough to pursue her studies, and is hoping to set up her own business designing furniture in the future.
She was on holiday, camping out in the wilds, and although her friends all thought she was foolish, she decided to go, just to see if she could cope with a few days away from all of her technology and modern life.  The first night out, however, whilst she was sleeping she was taken captive by a Gorean raiding party, and when she awoke, she was on Counter Earth, terrified and confused.
Sexual orientation/Limits (for a slave) Penny is as most people on earth, horrified by the idea of slavery, and so would rebel strongly against any attempt to make her a slave.  She is not stupid however and will quickly find that she has no choice but to comply, at least for the moment.
My limits as a writer are in my on and offs.

lorcan

Oh goody a pretty young lass to be dragged into counter-earth!

lorcan

So we have one person posting a character so do we have any idea what type of home stone will go with cause since im playing a Gorean this will affect what i put together.

Meister

Well, I'm mostly familiar with the urban Goreans. Anybody wants to play something else, they are gonna have to say so now or suck it up if they join later. I'm up for working together on creating an original city, but Ar and Ko-Ro-Ba are pretty handy models.

lorcan

I like Ar myself and im pretty flexible just as long as we have an idea of where its going so i can make an appropiate history. Hmm what caste so many choices.

Haibane

I need to spend some time reading up on the setting as I'm mostly ignorant of what it all entails apart from picking up some bits and pieces here and there from lifestyle websites. I was going to play a free woman but that would require a good deal of research and I'd be concerned about getting it wrong. One thing I only just discovered (from the posts above) is I was unaware that Gor was a parallel and linked world to our own. Now in that case I could instead play a submissive female taken to the counter-earth unwittingly and enslaved because by doing so my Big Fat Zero knowledge of Gor itself would matter far less.

I've been playing a lot of dominant characters recently which are naturally more work and I've just gained a taste for submitting again which is a whole lot easier to write! So, yes, I'll be an Earth woman transported to Gor.

Meister

Idea:

The two of you came in together. Maybe you are friends, or related even. Lorcan and I (well, our characters) buy you at auction, our first slaves in some time.

Thoughts?

Elven Sex Goddess

I am interested in playing a Kajira,  either of the red silk or even perhaps a black silk caste of the kajira.

I am quite familiar with the Gor setting.

That is if there is still openings.

My brand that denotes what I am in society.   It is upon my left thigh

Come closer, enter my pen to see the color of my silk.   For the shadows are great within the confines of the cell.

Meister

Awesome, ESG. Difficulty is, we may need at least one more man, just to keep things even. I'd also REALLY like to see a Free Woman or two as well. I'd kind of like to see a relatively equitable distribution of roles, so that we don't end up with ungainly harems or some very jealous would-be Masters.

Haibane

Yes, I could play a character who is a friend of Bloodrose's girl. That works. I was thinking of playing a more worldly girl than hers though, one who has been around a bit and perhaps done some internet porn (though not much) and who, upon being scared and confused at first would actually eventually enjoy her submission a lot since it will fill a strong kink of hers which she may just be realising she has.

I tend to prefer to play characters that actually enjoy their treatment rather than those who hate it since I go for realism and playing a slave who hates being enslaved would actually be pretty depressing to write because I'd have to write her responses honestly.

I do not see an issue with having an imbalance of females to males at least to begin with. The two males could be brothers living together who already own one slave and buy two more. This achieves a couple of useful things - it puts us all in one location, it raises the levels of group interaction and it allows Elven's character to be a mentor to the two Earth women.

If more players join later, all well and good. We would only then need to try and keep an approximate balance as we go.

Would a fairly heavily pierced girl be a problem for anyone?

Meister

Septum rings were, last I checked, actually in fashion. Ear rings were considered very racey. I do not recall any mention of lip, belly button, nipple, or surface piercings, however. I'd rule it that an Owner decorates his property as he wishes. If he wants more attachment points to keep her in place, he may have them installed.

Your idea actually does work out quite nicely. Lorcan, thoughts buddy? I'll try to get a character sheet with the settled details tonight, but we gotta decide on caste.

Muse

GAh, lol.  :D

And to think, if I'd signed up before Lorcan...  :P

Anyways, is it okay if I've only read Tarnsman, and that a while back?  I'd be intrested to sign up, perhaps as a soldier who specializes in those birds?

Sure. Do you mind waiting and see if any other slaves or FW present themselves before you get one to yourself? I kinda like Haibane's idea.

Haibane

Could Muse be a slave dealer perhaps?

lorcan

Hmm well if no one wants the role i can step up and take the role of Ubar and work on crafting the homestone and such and organizing peoples imput on that.

I had a Gorean RP thread going here:

https://elliquiy.com/forums/index.php?topic=78217.0

I don't think it is typical Gorean stuff, though.  My co-writer was into Gorean RP and I was the only one who showed interest in it at the time.  She seemed to want to be objectified as property but still have a romantic relationship with her master, which was taboo.  So far, the basic plotline was my main character visited an old friend, her master at the time.  Her master offered my character a chance to spend the night with one of his slaves, and my character chose her.  My character took a liking to her and decided to accept her as payment to settle a debt.  He kept her in a little house of his own, away from his business and main home.  He then surprised her by arranging to take another slave from her former master.

Personally, I didn't really have the patience to learn all the cultural stuff of Gor, but the general premise is cool and I liked the gritty feel and the various positions slaves were expected to know.

I used these websites for research.

Vin, did you want to join us?

Frankly I'm a bit surprised. Usually with slave settings there's loads of female players clamouring to be submissives, LOL. The lack of them on this thread might be because few know what Gor is? Perhaps editing the thread title will help attract more interest?

Do we need such a socially significant role played? Why not just play a group of people from similar castes - warriors guarding some scribes on route to attend a council meeting or something and they take their slaves with them. Start the game in a low profile manner and build from there if we get more interest. Details of the bigger picture can come later.

Or if Lorcan wants to be Ubar, then Meister and Muse can be the two brothers, presumably in the same caste.

@ Meister - if the Priest-Kings are still gathering Earth females for slave stock I presume they'd gather the more beautiful ones, not the plain Janes. If that logic works I might go for an exceptionally beautiful woman, possibly a porn model, travelling between assignments by car when she has a 'close encounter' and vanishes from earth.

Meister

Yeah, I've been mulling over the ubar idea myself. It tends to get to people's heads, especially because possessiveness of the group, and not just any individual, tends to rear its ugly head. I can't tell you how many times I've seen wonderful people leave because the "ubar" went full Stalin. Also, if we are in Ar, it already has an established homestone, though yes, technically we do need one for the residence. Never met too many people who bothered to include that generally minor detail though.

Thoughts, Lorcan?

Haibane

Yup, I tend to steer away from group RPs that focus on higher level politics; kings, princes, queens, uber-level-wizards, etc... the highest levels of machinations since egos can get out of control. I find RPing a "bunch of nobodies" always more satisfying, and usually more flexible.

Unfortunately I think this is a minority preference.

With you in the mix, Haibane, I'm so very tempted, but I'm already spread thin with RPs.  I'll be watching, though.

lorcan

Well actually the Ubar is quite a big deal cause he is the one who establishes the rules and laws of his home stone and Quite honestly its better to establish a homestone based on of the nations as a guide line for the flavors we would like to see as the people who will make up the homestone. To be honest i think you would also be denying in my opinion one of the more dynamic and fanscinating parts of Gor cause a great deal of the Culture. Cause it is a rare thing that a homestone falls and when it does the people who are  of that have to deal with a strong negative stereotype and are distrusted and  are just barely above slaves desptie being freemen or women and also opens any slaves you own to much more dangers especially if the situation happens where you fall in love with your slave cause it is not uncommon for even a free women to beg the collar of the one the love. Besides with an established home stone it is more common place for proper education cause also a slave that isnt well trained reflects poorly on the homestone so thus it would alllow for a little leeway with training. Especially since we have new people to Gor. Besides I also think we would be denying people to experience the true and beautiful essence of Gor. Yes that can happen that people do get overzealous with power but here we do have methods to curb them since the people playing the Ubar are not necessarily Adminstrators and Moderators for the out of character aspects so gross violations will be less likely to occur then whay i have seen in my time in Gor done in places like on Pal Talk or forums Strictly dedicated to Gor. Besides I think also it would provide everyone with the common Goal of working towards the safety and security that the Homestone represents in Gor.

lorcan

Also a Good Ubar in my opinion is not someone who looks neccesarily to his own concerns but the concerns of his citizens cause if not  he ulimately dishonors himself and the Homestone and will find himself deposed and with out a homestone of his own and have to live the cruel life of an exile. Which in Gor is a fate worse then death.

Haibane

The Ubar role sounds like one that would be best handled by an NPC, or our game simply need not concern itself with politics at that level. In most games set in the real world, few would think the American President is a vital role to be filled for every RP.

Or, if its not a war, the council would be in charge. Ubars are only dictators in time of crisis, so surely 99% of the time a council would be governing the city (if we even set the game in a city, there is no need even for that).

I think we need Meister to decide if he feels an Ubar is needed, or if the city we are in is at peace and then what level of society and politics he wishes his game to be set at.

lorcan

Well that could work but to be honest to play in such a large setting in Gor can be overwhelming  and would inolve alot of npc's and i think we would benefit more from a smaller homestone that is just begining to rise  and make its name for itself. if we go with using the cultures as a base. We can also focus more on the tight knit community and face the challenges of establishing such a place. Cause also such a place would also provide for some unique dynamics and fun and im not neccessarily concerned with holding the postion of Ubar i would want it to be someone everyone is more comfortable with besides my favorite caste is the Players caste I would much rather play one of them.

FeBurns

Hello good folks.

Are you accepting male characters played by female writers or vice versa?

I might be interested in this.  Maybe as a female slave, maybe as a kajirus.

I'd need to do some research (my knowledge of Gor is an outsider's, and it's very limited), but I'm most definitely intrigued. When I was first introducing myself to the lifestyle in general, I was told by one Gorean man that a lot of my opinions on the matter were close to those of Gor.

I did some research, and found many of the ideas quite interesting.

So, with a little research, I'd be more than willing to join up. I'm not sure which role I'd fit into, but I'll either do a lot of research and be Gorean-born, or play someone who was taken, and learn and find my role as I go along.

^_^

Meister

I am hesitant to make any such ruling about the style we take in carrying out this RP simply because I'm the one that proposed it. That's exactly how most of the Gorean rooms start sliding down that slippery slope. I will say that I support Haibane's suggestion of keeping things relatively low-politics, if only because that's different from everything else I've seen, but I refuse to say that's how we are going to do it. I'd much rather go with what it seems like most people wanted for this, if only to try and provide the most fun for everyone. The only people I want to get butthurt are the ones that refuse to compromise and play nice. So far, only the three of us have discussed it, while there are a lot more showing interest in it now. I want to hear what everybody has to say.

@Max and FeBurns: I personally don't play with cross-gender players, but if somebody else wants to, that's all on them.

Max

My personal preference is to play male.  There was mention of a free woman, but only if there was a kajirus.  That would be great.  If not, then maybe a slave girl.

Giulianna

Hi,

I am interested in joining, but I know very little of Gor. Just followed one of the links here and it seems like something I'd love to learn more about. I basically always play submissive girls, so, if there is room for one more who would eventually be a slave, let me know. It seems you already have girls coming from Earth, so I suppose I should look for a different story, right?

So, a question. Would a free woman make a slave of herself for some reason? Love, magic, pure lust, born after she was raped or something like that? I realize that blackmail would work, but I would like the conflict that would come with a decision she made by herself. Just random thoughts right now.

Giulianna

Haibane

I don't play opposite cross-gender players either, so if people take up such roles we'd have to avoid each other. Not saying it won't work but it might get awkward.

1. Yeah, I mean, there's nothing officially stopping you from going that route, it's just that the ratio of earth-girls to natives would start to get a little silly. Unless it's about an organization that makes those acquisitions...  >:)

2. It does indeed happen. There are more than a handful of women in the books who are so impressed with a man's (usually Tarl, one of the primary and most common POVs in the series) virility, strength, and general all-around manliness, that they do, eventually, beg to be his slave. It's not something they don't take lightly, but considering the culture where slavery, while officially uncommon, is still considered a natural state for females, not surprising in the slightest.

Isengrad

A very interesting idea, I would love to be apart of this. I will certainly have to start reading the books(i'm lucky enough that my dad had most of them and have them downstairs)I am familer with some aspects of gorrean culture(like most people i'm familer with the kajira....at one point even owning one, well in a sense), however I can always stand to learn more about the socity.

IM thinking If I do join I would probably construct a Warrior, strong.. cunning if not educated like others, but still intelligent. Would just have a few questions about that, would a warrior not out.. well waging war.. be living off the soils of the last campaign? or would he find work in the city.. as a guard or some sort of police force?

original artwork by karabiner

Meister

I don't recall it being explicitly explained, but this is how I sort of understood it. Anybody who clearly remembers differently, feel free to interject.

I believe warriors received a stipend from the government just for being healthy and available at a moments notice. They may have earned more by taking on tasks like training younger men who hadn't joined the ranks yet, and for rising through the ranks of leadership, or by just being officially serving at a post outside the city like a fortress or keep, away from civilization. Some likely took mercenary work, especially for friends of their family, if they wanted extra coin. It could have been work as body guards, or protecting a caravan. Protecting the peace and law enforcement was a joint effort between a sub-caste of the warriors, the city watchmen, and several sub-castes of scribes who acted as attorneys, judges, record keepers, and investigators.

All in all, not TOO much different from how we support our military in the US. Though yeah, I'm pretty sure the rules concerning looting and pillaging, if extant, were much looser and less strenuously enforced.

lorcan

Yes, Freewomen have become slaves for the ones the love sometimes this is done in a contract that the freewomen first upon marrying will be made a slave so the husband my train his wife to serve him as he needs. Others do it cause the have been shown their true to desire to be a slave and submit themselves to someone they care for cause under the merchant guild laws in the more civilized areas of Gor thier is some protection for ones property.

Meister

Ok, this has been up for discussion for a while. Obviously a fair few people are interested. Now, we just need to figure out, specifically, we are all interested in.

Option #1:Lorcan, correct me if I am wrong, please, but it seems you want a more traditional RP with many of the elements I've seen in chat. That being the case, we may be able to do something on IRC or buzzen or any number of other free chat sites. We can do OOC and basic planning here on E, and RP as members of the ruling council and their slaves and various other VIPS offsite.

Option #2: Haibane has brought up playing as a family and group of friends within a city. Completely unconcerned with the politics or much intrigue, mostly just living as your typical Goreans. Easier to organize as a play-by-post, but we are going to have to come together on what, exactly, we are going to do.

Option #3: An idea I recently developed, wherein the men are mostly concerned with the capture and training of earth women as kajira, and the women are either aiding their training, or are being trained. Only two women expressed any interest in being FW, and one of them seems to be up for flipping on that. Haven't heard back from the other one, but I'm sure we can arrange something. Perhaps they run a more public face for the organization. Maybe they are the ones in contact with the Kur or Priest-Kings, due to the difficulty men have given them in the past. We can work something out.

Please, everybody that's interested, vote. If you want to keep it private, PM me. Otherwise, I see no reason to not just post your preference here. If you have any other ideas you'd prefer, raise them. If that happens, you can either remain silent and keep your vote, or change it to the new option. All I ask is that no one gets butthurt for not doing things the way they want to do them. If it's that important to you, you can start your own RP and hey, I might even join it too.

Just so we don't spend too much time debating, I'd rather like to have this hashed out before the end of the month, early next week preferred.

bloodrose

I would find it difficult to go along with option 1 as I'm on line at different times of the day, due to shiftwork, so I would have to go with option 2 or 3, either of those would be fine for me, but I have to say I prefer your idea of option 3, Meister.

From what I've read of the character ideas that have been posted, option 3 seems to me to be the one that would work the best for everyone.
bloodrose's Ons and Offs

Haibane

I do not RP by IRC at all, so that only leaves options 2 and 3 and both of those work for me. The group of slavers working to capture and train Kajira is effectively the same scenario I suggested where a family group is buying new slaves and training them, so for me both these suggested story lines appear to hold the same appealing elements.

It might help if I summarise what it is about Gor that appeals to me - its the regularized fantasy world full of laws, customs and structure. Coming into this as an abducted earth girl and knowing a big fat zero about it but being trained to understand it and learn whilst being forced to unwillingly submit into a social order (slave) that my girl finds alien except in bedroom play holds that combination of appealing elements. My character will be the kind of girl who enjoys submitting (I can't play a submissive any other way since I play realistically and to play one who hates it would be too unpleasant); so whether we have a slave trading party or a family unit does not matter to me as long as those elements I'm interested in are available to enjoy.

Power politics holds no interest for me in his particular context.

Giulianna

I would rather a play by post too, it works much better with my work and all, as I have random free moments scattered through the day. I used to play on IRC, but can't find the time anymore.

Anyway, I assume FW is free woman. I mentioned the possibility of starting as one, but one who would soon decide to become a slave by her own choice. This could be fun, but, if the game runs around the idea of capturing earth women, I could start as one as well. I like both concepts, I will see how the ideas progress and then pick one. I am more inclined right now to go as the FW turned into kajira, but earth girl would fit my knowledge much better.

Haibane

I think the difficulty with playing as a Gorean is you would need to know the books pretty well and since I don't and I know my lack of knowledge would probably end up annoying the really knowledgeable people here, I went for the only obvious option the world of Gor allowed.

lorcan

Id say Option three would go best for me since  if were going the normal citizen route id be playing my favorite caste the players so i could always just win some slaves off people in a kaissa match.

Meister

Alrighty, so, sounds like #3 is the winner. Cool. I think we can proceed to character generation and hopefully get this beast finally up and running shortly after Christmas.

What I think we need:

-A physician. Male or female. Mostly responsible for treating new slaves, administering stabilization AKA virtual immortality serums. Lots of opportunities for medically themed scenes too, obviously.

-A head slaver, preferably male, to show the girls off to the public and boss people around. I call dibs.

-Any number of male slavers to actually capture and train the girls under the head slaver's direction.

-A scribe, ideal for a free woman, to keep track of things and do the books and maybe be jealous of the pretty earth girls and their collars and brands.

-Whatever else you can make a solid argument for.

Er... some slaves?  8-)

If you can give some thought to a character template, please Meister, I'll spend some free time after Xmas creating a character.

Well those go without saying, dear girl.

I myself shall wait until the end of the holidays as well. RL has been trying. God I need a slave.

Giulianna

Nice, Number 3 means I will start working on a biography for an Earth girl captive. It is certainly the best way to get introduced to the setting. Holidays are also making it harder to post, I expected it otherwise, but then... I hope to get something up soon, but still have many posts and questions to reply to.

Haibane

Who else is playing an abducted earth girl? Shall we arrange to know each other and be abducted together or shall we just play it as strangers?

My girl is going to be English and an internet porn star with submissive tendencies. She'll be over in the States doing some bondage shoots for sites like Kink.com and I was thinking of having her, once her work schedule is done, hire a car and do the touristy thing and drive to the west coast for a weeks holiday, flying back to London from San Francisco.

Anyone which wants to meet her, we could do so on the road in a hotel and then share the fuel costs for the journey west.

I was going to have the abduction occur somewhere isolated out in the desert.

lorcan

Hmm so i take it this is going to be more based on wandering individuals in Gor and the slaves the carry along with them

Haibane

It looks like Option 3 of the 3 choices Meister gave was the most popular.

lorcan

Okay sounds good ill get my player caste up and running hmm maybe the slaves can be brought by the slavers to the Merchant caravan i travel with.

Haibane

You don't want to play in the slaver caravan with the rest of the group?

Actually - how many male characters do we have now?

lorcan

Not particulary but would definately would be interested in becoming an owner of one or maybe more of the girls depending on how things go.

For men, very few. Originally all the people of Gor were picked up by the priest-kings to populate the planet. Now that there are a few million humans living there, it takes extraordinary circumstances for a man to be taken on a voyage of acquisition. Tarl Cabbot was picked because his dad was a senior agent of the priest-kings, and while he did become a great hero... The sheer rarity of such things kind of borks the scope of the rp as it stands, in my oppinion. The only earthers that are commonly picked up are women intended for slavery.

Now if people support your endeavor, maybe we can work something out, but it would be a lot easier if you picked one of the roles I asked for earlier on.

Ironwolf85

I just thought i might be a guy from a civilization that's developed star travel, kinda cyberpunk, wonder weather pick my usual bio-sculpt idea or not, probably not...
but either way it allows me to come in and not know much about the setting and feel, because I don't know out of game

Gor as a series of books predates the very concept of cyber-punk by at least ten or so years. The most advanced humans on the planet can't develop gun powder or internal combustion engines or radios without being fried by the priest-kings.

There are alien races, but to play as one completely changes the scope of the rp we've only just finally agreed on, and both of those races require consider background knowledge to play effectively as. There are also only two planets with humans on them, Earth and Gor. Neither of them have developed interplanetary travel. Goreans only have the technology on loan from either the priest-kings or the Kur, and it's use is heavily restricted.

I'm sorry, but what you appear to want just is not appropriate to this role play. It would be like trying to shoe-horn Buffy the Vampire slayer into the Chronicles of Narnia. Fine as crossover fiction where you can do whatever you want... Not so much here.

Please, I'm not saying you can't play with us. Just that you need to at least go over some of the links provided and preferably read one or two of the books before you get into something you know next to nothing about.

Ironwolf85

i understand... I just like the idea of being lost on a planet that I don't know... always do like survival stories, and such... maybe I'll try somthing else, if people want me back pm me, if not off I go.

Just to toss out some ideas:

One of the books centers around an Earth male, who is in the wrong place at the wrong time.  They had originally attempted to kidnap his girlfriend while she was taking a taxi ride, but he went with her, and they just took him as well.  He is trained as a male pleasure slave, but after a few misadventures, winds up as a stable slave, who does some pit fighting on the side.  When his mistress' estate is ransacked, he gets free, and sets out to find his lost girlfriend.

Or, like Tarl Cabot, your character's father is an agent of the Priest Kings, and taken there to be with him.  AN alternate, your character does a great favor to the agents of the Priest Kings on Earth, and is taken to Gor as a reward.  Or, he somehow manages to stowaway on one of the slave girls to Gor.

One warning.  A character who can't speak the language or defend himself may soon end up either dead or in a collar himself.

Hopes this helps.

The first few suggestions would work well enough, but yeah, you are right, it'd be hard to stay out of a collar for anyone who doesn't know how to use a sword. Another problem, to my mind, is fitting such a character into the concept we decided on without making massive adjustments. I do kind of want to avoid making any one character into a primary protagonist, which is what a Gulliver or Tarl clone would, I think, have quite some difficulty avoiding.

But really, the primary issue isn't so much being an earther as much as it is being from a cyber-punk civilization with bionic enhancements. That just won't fly, period.

Max

Well, it seems that Earth advances in tech, while Gor doesn't.  So, if the game were set in the future, it would be possible.  Of course, the Priest Kings would fry him as soon as they saw him use any kind of tech.  Not that I think it would be set in the future.

But, was just trying to toss out some ideas, see if their was some way for him to get in the game.

Nit-picking time:
Gor actually is extremely developed in several areas. Gorean physicians have practically annihilated most diseases and have unlocked the secret of near immortality and permanent youth. Their builders raise towers that practically defy physics in their design, and have discovered some sort of clean, infinite supply of energy aside from electricity.

It is completely true that Goreans are purposely stunted in several other areas though. Gor is like a wildlife preserve in some ways, and the PK know that if they permit humans weapons more advanced than the crossbow, or vehicles faster and more reliable than riding rough dinosaur equivanent, they'd just run rough shod over everything.

Luella

I'd like to join in as part of the Green Caste (I was a physician on SL before).

Perhaps a suggestion to all (since the majority are still new to the world of Gor), how about bring it all down to Earth? That a way, you won't have to struggle with native languages, animal names, ranks...etc?

Like option 3, a prominent company is actually a  Gorean slave trade which operates on Earth instead of Gor, where women were snatched off from their lives and sent to a secret training centre to prepare them to be kajirae to be shipped to Gor. And then, to mix in a bit of Option 2 together...these Goreans run the 'company' like how they do in Gor with their various ranks and castes.

I was curious about this since in the first book automatic language translators are mentioned which surely must operate on something like electricity and contain small powerful computers. Also Tarl mentioned having a heated under blanket for his bed which again implied electricity. However no ring mains of any kind are in the buildings which suggests a power storage device like a battery yet if the Goreans got to disassemble some of this technology wouldn't that immediately expose them to retribution from the PKs?

After a while I became frustrated reading the books simply because from a hard sc-fi POV the technology and society didn't seem to have been properly thought through. So many loopholes, both in the technology and the politics/social order.

I don't want to detract from the game and I certainly don't want to discuss the inconsistencies here as they're not relevant to a Gorean RP but I was puzzled by the presence of electrically powered devices alongside a Conan-level society.

@Luella - nice idea but I actually want to be an Earth-abductee brought to Gor so that as part of the RP the character learns and discovers much of this other planet and its society.

Meister

Yeah, Haibane, Norman basically did handwave almost everything. I mean, the very premise of an alternate earth on the other side of the sun is ludicrous, even back in the 60s and 70s when the series was in its heyday. Norman wasn't writing speculative fiction, or anything meant to be taken seriously in a scientific sense, and yeah, anybody who starts reading the series expecting that  is in for a world of disappointment. Norman was a writer first, and proto-sexologist second. I think his scientific background pretty much began and ended with Chemistry 101.

Haibane

That's good. As long as it doesn't spoil our game I'm fine with some inconsistencies. Happy to suspend disbelief and just go with the Gor that is presented and have fun.

Ironwolf85

my orignal idea was to take the bio-sculpted coroprate I had from cyberpunk 2020 (because the role play with him in it never took off) and give him a shot here. My idea was him getting abducted while out on the town with a girl they grabbed up the whole limo, and because of his sculpting winding up as a high price slave.
now this former comunication's exec is trapped on Gor, no net, no tech, and trying to work his wak in this strange world.

Gor is about as anti-fuzzy as it gets. Seriously, dude, we've completely side-tracked the main point of this thread. I've explained why your character concept won't work, haibane has helped explain, several other people have helped explain. You yourself have acknowledged that it won't work.

anyway the reason we're still talking about this is because most of us have nothing better to do.

Hm, maybe a compromise?

A corporate mogul, who embodiment of manhood, who gets kidnapped along with his grilfriend, and taken to Gor?  He could wind up as a slave, or maybe he proves himself to the other men of the company, and joins them?

Just eliminate the cyberpunk references?

Roman? LOL. Now you're just trolling.

What part of 'contemporary Earth' wasn't clear?

Any male kidnapped 'by accident' (do the priest-kings even do things 'by accident'?) would either just be killed or be made into a slave just like the captured females.

* * *

So, anyway... are there plans to start yet? Have we decided on a format and opening scene? Do you have a preference for a character sheet/template Meister? I'm ready to write my girl down, she's been 90% finished in my head since before Christmas.

Haibane

Um, are we going to play? I must be up front and say I tend to lose interest if the talk drags on without progress... We should create an OOC thread at least?

Meister

I'm Sorry, I'm sorry, things got a bit hectic and I turned my focus to some stuff going on already. As far as character sheets, just a basic name, description, and bio should suffice. Don't have the time to get mynown character up right now but hopefully later tonight or early morning.

I believe Luella wanted to be the physician, which is awesome. Now the other free need to figure outwhat they are doing exactly.

As for opening scene, it kind of depends how much of a prologue we want. I can just jump right in and kidnap the ladies, or they can spend the first few posts getting acquainted while lead the team in getting the men prepared for the trip, or we can start after all that, with the ladies in their kennel awaiting their physical exams.

Haibane

#81
I was assuming a fairly long first post from my girl's POV ending with her being abducted by aliens and her mind going blank until she awakens... wherever it is you think I should describe. In a cage? A box? A kennel? Bound and lying on the ground by a camp fire? Naked? Clothed? In her Earth clothes? In Gor garments? I'm unsure of the basic protocols. If you could PM me the likely starting situation I'll write it up.

I did suggest Bloodrose's girl and mine be together just before they are abducted but she hasn't responded.

EDIT: I have a character all done. Just need a character or OOC thread to put her in!

Meister

Question I probably should have asked earlier: Are you guys envisioning this as extreme, noncon, or bondage? Kinda need to figure out the category everybody is thinking would fit best before we put our feet in our mouths.

As for character sheets, I see no problem posting them here. Speaking of...

Maleolus, Slaver of Ar

Maleolus is one of the chief agents of the kurii on Gor, mostly responsible for the capture of Earth women to train as slaves and infiltrate Priest-King cells. Officially, he's a mid-level Slaver. He's advanced enough in the caste to warrant having a good sized group of lesser slavers and trainers, as well as a full time physician, but he is still personally involved on almost every level of his operation. This is fine with him, as it permits him to do more or less as he pleases without much scrutiny. His inventory is usually of very high quality, but low in quantity. To most familiar with his stock, he specializes in capturing and training barbarians, but few really question where his girls come from. Only that, despite their origins, they have clearly learned their place with nary a mark on their delicious bodies.

Physically, Maleolus has the body of a 30 year old, but thanks to the stabilization serum of the Green caste, he's actually well into his 80s. Unlike most powerful merchants who tend towards decadence, hedonism, and gross obesity, Maleolus has stayed rather fit and healthy. He is fully capable of overpowering someone who hasn't dedicated their life to combat and is a more than competant swordsman. He is 6'1", with dark brown hair and a full beard, of stocky build. He wears blue and gold clothes, his caste's colors, with some pride.

We are definitely in non-con land here I would suggest, though it could go extreme as well but I'd like to check which specific EX things may happen as almost all of them except bestiality are offs for me and being in a game that could head off into areas that'll squick me out is a problem.

Meister, do you pan to add an image to your character? It really helps me when there is one.

Meister

Looks a little older (and rather hairier) than I envisioned, but good enough for google.

Also, while I too concur that it will start as noncon, actual extreme elements are rather rare in Gor. Bestiality is never mentioned, and while a slave may need to empty chamber pots, it's pretty rare for toilet play to come up. Granted, there was that one time a total bitch had to spend the night with a sack that had held dung for a while around her head.

Discipline is strict and punisments are harsh, but needless cruelty and outright sadism is quite rare, allegedly. A slave is whipped to teach her a major lesson far more often than because her owner likes lash marks on her back or to hear her scream. Male slaves are totally expendable, but kajira, particularly ones that know there way around the furs, are only really hurt for breaking an actual slave law, such as picking up a weapon, attacking a free person, theft, or betrayal. They are hamstrung on the first such offense and disposed of however their owner sees fit on the second.

To my recollection, incest is just a big taboo on Gor as it is on Earth. Unless people have something in mind, I don't quite see this qualifying as extreme.

Luella

Hi guys, I'm gonna have to skip out of this one. Really sorry and good luck with running it!

to hear that luella. Guess we need a new physician. Still need a scribe, and some slavers too, not to mention for the rest of the ladies to draw up their slaves. Elven Sex Goddess ones me her character, but I haven't heard from her in a bit.

For what it's worth, thank you to everyone who's sticking with this after all this time. I really hope all this set up and background work pays off for us.

Haibane

I think it may be worth PMing everyone who showed an interest to check they are still interested and then just begin small with whoever is ready and the rest can join as they become ready/available.

Elven Sex Goddess

Still around;   just waiting for everything to get worked out and game started.

Name:  Marika

Nationality:  Gorean

Gender:  Female

Age: 21

Physical Statistics:  Height-5'1",  Weight-126lbs (9 stones),  Measurements-36C-24-36.  Hair-golden blonde,  eyes-emerald green.

Tatoos, marks, piercings:  Upon her left mid thigh the Kajira brand.

Description/Picture:  Curvaceous well endowed beauty.  Long wavy tresses of golden blonde hair, wide bright emerald green eyes.   A stunning ravishing beauty with lush full lips.  However, due to the intense inter-breeding.   Marika left leg is a inch and half shorter then her right.   It is not a factor in her ability to dance.   However, it makes running with speed impossible.   Needless to say she will not out run anyone.

Position/Caste: Kajira of black silk.   A passion slave, purposely bred for her attributes and beauty.

Brief:  Bred in the slave pens of Ko-Ro-Ba.  Simply put  Marika is a woman that makes a man's mouth drool  with lust.    Trained in the art of dance.  Her skill is such that it captivates those around her.   But that skill pales in comparison to her passion skills.   She is everything a kajira should be,  a exemplary prize.

A slight noticeable limp is noticed when Marika walks.  Due to her right leg being longer then her left.   This as afore mentioned, does not interfere with her ability to dance.    It adds a sensual sway to her walking gait.  Of the sash shay of her heart shape derrière.

But being of black silk is more then just being bred with attributes of great beauty or trained in skills of passion and dance to please ones master.  Marika is quite skilled in cooking, in care of her masters home.

bloodrose

Is my original character sheet still ok, or do I need to revise it?

Haibane - I'm quite happy to interact with your character, but I'm a bit concerned as they are so very different.  How would they know each other?  I can see them striking up a friendship when they are captured, to support one another, if that would work for you?

Hi Bloodrose.

My thinking was they meet on the road as Alice is driving her hired car west doing her touristy thing and they meet at a motel or hotel and your girl accepts a lift from mine. They could be together a couple of days getting to know each other when on the third the car loses power and electrical power too and the alien ship lands, the door opens and after that they remember no more until they wake in the slave cages, perhaps in adjacent cages.

The whole thing is just a device to have them know each other and form a slight bond during their enslavement, rather than have them as strangers. I didn't plan anything sexual to develop between them.

During the two days they are together we can assume they swap the info that is on their character sheets, something like that.

Giulianna

Name: Midori Rei
Nationality: Japanese
Gender: Female
Age: 18
Hair: Black
Eyes: dark brown
Tatoos, marks, piercings: both her ears are pierced (yes, I did read a little and found out that this has consequences)
Appearance:

Midori was born in a rich, traditional Japanese family. When she was only one year old, they moved to the United States, because of her father business. Her father was always a strict man, controlling all her decisions and life and she grew up used to that. Every time she started a relationship with some boy she had known in school, he would find out about that and force her never to see him again.

While always an obedient girl, Midori also wanted to live her life. She wanted to meet boys, have a romance, kiss, date, and just go do all the stuff she only heard her friends talking about. But the one night she didn't come back home at the time her father had ordered her, he had the cops going after her. At home, humiliated, he spanked her as if she were still a little girl. That was the night she decided to run away when she turned 18, ten months from there.

And so she did. Two days after her birthday, she claimed she would visit a family friend and, instead, took a random bus and then a cab to a trucker stop, at one of the town exits. It was not hard to find a ride there, she just wanted to go away, so she just chose asked the first trucker she met where he was going, it was far enough, so she asked for a ride. He grabbed her ass right there and she realized that the ride would cost her virginity. She had actually planned to lose it as soon as possible, as a symbol of her independence, so she just jumped aboard.

Two weeks later, the trucked told her he had to go see his wife. She could stay at a road side motel and waited for him there, but he was not sure how long he would take. She had never known he was married.

---
Midori might just be outside, feeling depressed and unsure where to go when the other girls are preparing to leave. I hope everything is OK with my character, let me know if anything else is needed.

Meister

On the face of it, Midori seems fine, Giulianna.

So, as it stands, we have a ton of kajira/will-bes, and... one Free person. Which would be me.  ;D

Now I don't want to sound like I'm complaining or anything, but I certainly think there's plenty of work to go around. So seriously, anybody wants to be Free, have at it.

Giulianna

Sorry if it is just me being insecure, I know emotions don't show well in small messages, but if I am not sure what you mean by on the face of it. If there is any problem, just tell me, and I will be happy to work on it. If I am just being silly, also, do tell me.

So, what should I do next? Other than wait to be kidnapped, of course!

Meister

Really, I'm just waiting on some Free to join in. I'm hesitant to start this until we get at least one or two more guys, because frankly, handling all the slaves, even with Haibane's withdrawal, is just a little more than I feel I'm equipped to handle. A few men expressed interest, but until we get a character sheet, there's just not a whole lot I can do.

Once again, to those of you who are sticking it out through this long and difficult process, I do thank you.
