Bookmarks?

I am so sorry to bother anyone here and I know the new forum is a work in progress obviously..but I was wondering if we are still able to add book marks to our lists? I have one new topic set up to email me alerts but I was wondering if we could still add to our book marks and how I would do that?

Ok good so I am not just looking in the wrong place. While I don't mind getting emails and such I do like the book mark feature because they are all in the same place where I can look at the list.

yeah me too. and it's easier to find them if i need to check something too. like if i forgot to post, or a post didn't go through, or i forgot a characters name or just wanna re-read it.

What I have been doing temporarily is a thread tracker. Bookmarking in a post until it gets done.

Also posting so I can get updates. I use my bookmark list to make sure I reply to my threads in the order of who's been waiting longest, and I have a few RPs I've not been able to bookmark.

This isn't the solution, but it is information that many, I am sure, has discovered. When you right click on a story link, you get a pull down box with options. One is "Add Bookmarks." When you click that, you get a box to confirm. You hit 'Add' ... but it doesn't do anything. I only mention it as a possible lead on a solution. And yes ... thanks for ALL you do on this site!

The plan is to go back to something similar as before. But there is only 1 person working on the page so RL has to take priority and last I read was that Vekseid was having some health issues with an arm or hand. As programmer myself I know how difficult it gets to suddenly only type with 1 hand if you are used to 2. It'll drive down your speed by a lot.

I used to have my browser toolbar linked to my bookmark list on E. Started a new game so that became a minor inconvenience. While I do need the bookmarks to get to my 0n/0ff page because it is old and buried in posts, I changed my bookmark to link to forum profile -> watched topics. assuming you are only following your stories this should provide a stop gap until Vek is able to get bookmarks working again. I can see all my current stories and if I or my partner has been the last to reply.

I believe you can also turn them on in threads you haven't posted in and you can turn them off if you posted in a thread and don't want the alert.

Alerts are great for active threads with more than one person. They are NOT helpful for finding, say, a closed WB thread you want to go back to to edit, but cannot bookmark. Search is more functional now, so you can go looking for the thread title.

It would be very nice to have BMs back at some point, though.

Not sure how many this would help but while we are waiting for the bookmarks to come back I have been keeping a list of all the threads I have not been able to book mark again in a folder on my browser labeled Elliquiy. I just started in a group game and while the GM has been wonderful enough to make sure any new threads are listed on the characters intro page I just find it easier to keep them for me personally in my links folder as well because then I can access them with out having to find the intro thread again.

As well as the notify button so I can make sure I don't miss a post. But just a temp work around maybe that could help someone.

I'd love to have both bookmarks and alerts. The alerts are helpful for roleplays but bookmarks are helpful for having somewhere to save my partners O/O threads, etc.

I haven't missed bookmarks too much since I started running Ssieth's TamperMonkey Script. The Quick Links options gave me plenty to work with for custom settings and groupings. Could be an option for those willing to run a script in their browser and play around with new settings.

Not sure how effective this workaround would help people, but I might as well share it.

On the top left of the screen when you click on drop down bar with your username, you'll see a bunch of things but take note of the bell icon at the bottom with the word 'Notifications', click on that. It'll redirect you to a page with how you'd like to get alerts, be it emails or just pop ups on site.

The important bit is the 'Watched Topics' button, just above the big 'Notification Preferences' container. Click on that and you'll see all the topics to be alerted on. It's no bookmarks but it gets the job done. You could bookmark that page afterwards and see things faster without doing all those steps every time.

When I try Existno's method, my most recently created 1x1 search thread doesn't appear in my 'watched threads' and I don't know how to make it 'watched' so I get notifications on it. The 'follow topics I create and reply to' is checked but it's not in the list of threads.

I do hope to see the bookmarks feature back. It was a heavily used feature for me.

I recently came back from a break and was very pleased to see the facelift - it's very sleek and loads way faster.


I hope the alerts work in the same way as bookmarks do.

i made sure the follow threads was marked and then afterwards replied to my above one on one search to test but didn't get any notif on it which i'm sure it's set to no alerts somewhere but i don't know how to make it follow a certain thread without simply creating or replying to that thread. 

am i missing a step?
