Jedi Equipment

The following are descriptions of standard equipment carried by all Jedi working out of the Academy.

Aquata Breather

The A99 aquata breather was a small breathing apparatus that allowed oxygen-breathing lifeforms to survive underwater, in space, or among noxious gas for up to two hours. Jedi Knights commonly carried aquata breathers during field operations.

Grappling Spike

The grappling spike launcher was a small device commonly carried in a Jedi's utility belt. It comprised a central unit containing a liquid-cable reservoir, a grappling hook in one end, and a spike launcher in the other end. The liquid-cable reservoir was large enough to form up to 200 meters of cable. When launched, the spike's liquid-cable would solidify, and would be fired with enough momentum to embed the spike in most surfaces—excluding materials such as tough metals or particle shielded surfaces. The hook could then be attached to a solid object to secure the line.

Hush-98 Comlink

In addition to standard communication abilities, the Hush-98 featured a 100-kilometer range, variable frequencies, encoding, a locator, silence projectors that created a field of white noise around the user (allowing for private conversations), and was also capable of sending complex data. The device's name originates from the fact that it could "hear" even a hush.Components of the Hush-98 included a reception antenna, voice pickup, encoding selector, sound projectors, sound reproduction matrix, and frequency search control.

Imagecaster

The Imagecaster, a hand-held, disk-shaped hologram-projection device, comprised three curved arms fitted to a grilled projector plate; these arms could be extended in order to stand the Imagecaster on a level surface. The device could hold up to a hundred minutes' worth of images, though it was unable to send or receive transmissions—requiring the Imagecaster to be connected to another transmission device to be able to download images. It could also be connected to a pair of comlinks for pseudo-real-time, face-to-face communication.

Glowrods

Glowrods created a beam of light illuminating up to 10 meters. There were two varieties: those that produced light using chemical phosphorescents and those that used a portable power cell. The latter could be hooked up to a generator for indefinite light generation. The standard glowrod weighed roughly 2 pounds. They also came in versions that could be switched to ultraviolet. The glowrod could be modified so that it flickered instead of emitting a constant light so that it would resemble the flickering of torchlight. The Chemlight was activated by breaking the stick in half, providing two lights.

Beacon Transciever

The Jedi beacon transceiver was an encoded subspace receiver beacon carried by members of the Jedi Order, allowing them to receive signals and broadcasts from the Jedi Temple on Coruscant. Beacon transceivers were small, portable devices with a display screen and communications transceiver. The transceiver picked up broadcasts from the Jedi beacon on Coruscant or from any Jedi's personal comlink. In emergencies, a Jedi would broadcast Emergency Code Nine Thirteen to any beacon transceiver in range, calling for immediate assistance. These devices also picked up recall and retreat signals from the Temple, commonly when HoloNet channels were compromised.

Others

The standard field kit also includes food and energy capsules. It will also include a miniture lightsaber repair kit.
