Why is this character in the specified house: One would think that she'd be placed in Gryffindor with the loud and courageous personality she had. But the hat saw more to her mind than silly adventures or snappy come back. Her mind was sharp and she learned fast, absorbing information like a sponge. Not only that but she sought out knowledge, didn't just wait till she needed to know something. Lindsey actively wanted to learn about the world around her.
What about her is suited to this House:Her thirst for life and knowledge. She doesn't just want to be shown how something works. She wants to figure out why it works the way it does.
How did he react at sorting? She was surprised but seemed pumped to be in any house. Lindsey grew to be proud of her house and her mad learning skills. And has put her mind to good use...even if that good use is to prank someone or figure out which secret exit would work the best for this weekend.
Are her/his parents former house mates of this house? Her father died before she got to Hogwarts, but her mother was proud of her no matter what.

Skills / Abilities: Photographic memory. She hasn't decided what she wants to specialize in just yet. All the special abilities that a wizard can have seem so interesting it's hard to choose. But she seems to have a natural knack for Wandless Magic. Though it has on been seen a few times. And she says it make her wand testy. Wants to learn to cast a patronus charm.
Boggart:
Personality: Lindsey is in a sense a wild child, I mean what would you do if you learned you could cast magic and be some powerful wizard? You'd have all sorts of fun that is what you would do. She isn't your normal girl, doesn't fit in everywhere and could care less about it. It used to bother her that she was the odd man out. But at this point she just embraces life and enjoys what she can. She is rebellious, known to sneak out, break a few rules, and is a handful for anyone. She doesn't judge, if your good to her then she is good to you. If your not...well then it's just open season and you may find yourself at the end of one of her pranks. She is the type of girl that tries to bounce back from the bad in life, and doesn't hold onto grudges. She says it just ends up aging you or killing you faster. On of her favorite sayings is Never regret the things that make you smile.
She has forever been a curious child, just having to figure out how things worked. When she was little that didn't always mean she could put them back together. But she always had a knack for figuring out how things worked. She had this strange ability to just pick up on anything that was shown to her. There were times when it drove her fellow students nuts. She'd read and do her work and never crack the book open again. It caused of her fellow students to throw their potion book at her.
Intelligent: She has an uncanny skill to pick up on anything shown to her. Always a well of countless facts ( even if some of them are useless. The king of hearts is the only king without a mustache on a standard playing card:p) She seems to absorb what ever she learns like a sponge.
Strange: she has a strange way of going about this. Between her choice in style, dancing, music, and even her way of life. Lindsey is an oddball yes. But in the end she only thing that makes her that much better in the end. Sometimes fitting outside the box is the best way of doing things.
Strong willed: Lindsey has a will of iron, she isn't one to give in easily. Always determent finish what she starts, or take on a challenge. She doesn't give into bullies, though she does tend to laugh them off. Making fun of her is some what pointless because she just lets it wash of her back.
Silly: Lindsey loves a good joke, even if it is on her. She has been known to be a prankster specially if you end up being a jerk. Karma is a bitch and sometimes she has helpers. She also just loves to have a good time. Never afraid to laugh, it is after all the best medicine.
Creative: Between her music, her dancing, her composing or her clothing design she is a well of creativity. In fact she jokes about how her imagination would drive any normal person insane.
Driven: It may seem like Lindsey is all fun and games, but she is driven when it comes to the goals she sets in life. Be it a project, or a class, or maybe that new mix deck she was saving for. Lindsey gives her all and keeps going till she achieves what she has set her eyes on.
A little deeper:Lindsey was born in England to Derrick and Diana Daly (maiden name Rickard). Born 3 months early it wasn't thought that the little girl would make it. But even back then she seemed to be determent to prove people wrong about their thoughts on her. The small baby girl fought through it and not only lived, she thrived.
Their bouncing baby girl was always a handful, learning to climb before she learned to walk. She was always finding her way into things that no baby should be into. Driving her parent’s nuts sometimes as they chased after the small girl. But they loved her dearly, and wouldn't have her any other way. When she was five her father took her and her mother to her first concert. More so because he was preforming in it and he wanted his little girl and the love of his life there. It was then that she fell in love with the violin. The amazing instrument drew all of her attention, and it was clear that her father’s love for music had been passed down to his daughter. So at the age of five she got her first small violin and started to study. Taking private lesson from there on out.
When she got to be 9 Lindsey also took to dancing like her mother. Her mother eventually becoming a world famous dancer had met her father during one of her performances. Part of the reason Lindsey started to take dance as well, was the story of her parents meeting. It always touched her and made her want to combine her two great passions as well.
She loved that her parents had so much passion and creativity. They loved each other and didn't let anything get between that. Including her father’s family, they were pure bloods and were not pleased with the woman he chose to marry. But as always her father blazed his own trail and worked hard for what he wanted. Even after they disowned him and cut him off from anything the family had to offer.Due to running away and eloping with his wife. Diana Rickard was disowned for the very same reason. The young lovers than only Derrick 19, Diana 21 couldn't and wouldn't listen to their families disapproval over the match. And eloped in Paris, their first wedded kiss on the Eiffel Tower. Her parents both worked hard to achieve their dreams and raise their little girl. Her father became a well noted composure, her mother becoming a world renowned dancer. It seemed despite what her father’s family thought, Lindsey had greatness in her veins. Apparently her mother’s side hadn't been heard from since Diana had left. The only person that ever stayed in contact with her was her brother Julian. He wrote or called her as often as he could, and she wrote back. Even sent him photos of his niece as she grew up.
It was only when she was 13 that she had her first real taste of how harsh life could be. During winter break when her and her father ran to the store. The roads were slick but Derrick was being careful. It was just a simple trip to the store, for something her mother had forgotten. But that simple road trip ended with Lindsey losing her father. A drunk driver no doubt celebrating Christmas early hit them as he ran a red light. Hitting her father’s side of the car it flipped the car, it ended up landing on its top. Lindsey could barely keep herself awake. The pain that ripped through her system like wildfire. Her right hip and leg crushed from the metal of the door being smashed in. Blood was everywhere but she didn't know who it was from. Derrick her father kept talking to her till help came. Kept telling her to stay awake, that she was his strong girl and that she needed to be brave. And how much he loved her and Diana.
Her father died that night, leaving Lindsey and her mother alone. She didn't blame herself though; no Lindsey in fact blamed the drunk driver. When they saw him during the court case Lindsey deck him and knocked him out cold. It was the first charge on Lindsey's record; one she would say was and always will be well worth it. After that her father's side of the family tried to step in. A battle for custody took place, but thankfully the court judged in the favor of Diana. Taking her little girl Diana and going back to her old England home to be able to start over and give her daughter time to heal. A small cottage that seemed to have magic all around it. Which was good because Lindsey still needed time to heal, and it took nearly a year for her to get back to where she could walk right again. Her mother so proud of her daughter, even more so as she saw her push herself to be able to dance once again. They both worked together to get past her father's death. And eventually Lindsey got her smile back, and her mother got to where she could dance again. What Lindsey didn't know was it was Julian that sent money and such to help cover things. He helped her mom find the best doctors for Lindsey and payed for her rehabilitation. Helped them hold onto the small cottage home that Lindsey and Diana now lived in. Her mother not telling her because she didn't want her daughter to feel bad about how much it all took to make happen.
Years passed with them working hard to have a life. Lindsey working hard to catch back up in school after being away for so long. Thankfully it seemed Lindsey had a gift for learning just about anything presented to her. And if she had trouble figuring it out Lindsey would work that much harder till it finally clicked. Lindsey refused to quit anything she started. There were things in life you had to earn, a no matter how hard it was she achieved it. With all her hard work it didn’t surprise Diana when she was selected to attend Hogwarts School for Witch Craft and Wizardry. And with her mother’s blessing, eager energy, a bright smile, and music always on bubbling from her Lindsey started her education at Hogwarts.
This past year was hard, her mother being diagnosed with cancer. It started as a bump on her arm, they even thought it was a blood clot at first. It wasn’t till they went in and tried to fix it that they saw differently. That was only 8 months ago, the start of her mother’s longest and hardest fight. Starting chemo was a no brainer; Diana wanted to stay around to see her daughter grow up. So she fought hard and did her best. But the cancer spread despite her and the doctor’s efforts. Lindsey ended up going home to be with her and help her out in the last four months of her life. It was hard, there were days her mother couldn’t get up to go to the bathroom. And with no money for a nurse Lindsey had to do it all herself. But she never complained, never said a harsh word and certainly never cried in front of her mother. Diana tried with everything that she had, but it just wasn’t enough. The treatment was nearly harsher then the cancer itself. The only thing that ended up changing or helping any of that was the arrival of Lindey's uncle Julian. He showed up worried over the fact that his sister hadn't written or called in weeks. The last bit of info he got was she was starting treatment. He found that Lindsey was at home instead of at school. Taking care of her mother, instant food, canned soups, and any food that didn't need to be cooked were what they had to eat. As Lindsey can cook to save her life, the girl has been known to burn water. He came in and moved them to his home. And unknown to her he even made sure that their house was safe so Lindsey could have it after she was done with school.
The last four months of Diana's life were long and hard. But they were spent with a bit of family about her. Diana asked Julian to watch over Lindsey and not let her husband’s family take her. Not let her get hurt by any feuding or the families trying to push her to be something she wasn't. He said he would do his best to take care of her and protect her. Diana was happy to know that her little girl would be ok. Which is probably why she felt safe enough to leave them all. Lindsey found her mother dead one morning, having passed away in her sleep. Lindsey called the ambulance but in her heart she knew it was far too late to save her. Tragedy had struck again, and this time it left Lindsey an orphan. Thankfully she had Julian and the others. Still having never met her father’s family, or the rest of her mothers. And at the moment she was content with dealing what was before her.
Julian his wife Rosanne helped Lindsey arrange her mother’s funeral. Only a few weeks before Christmas break, and the new cousins coming home to meet her for the first time. They had been told about her, may have even met her at school. But it was only when a letter arrived to tell them about what was happening. Lindsey had no idea how they would react, and as she tried to deal with her mother's death she wasn't sure she cared. Though at least she briefly knew them from school.
The a day after her mother’s funeral a lawyer arrived at her house. He had a check that he presented to her, the sum of money was astounding. Most would only wish to see so much money at once. He informed her that her father’s family would be stepping in and taking custody of her. Lindsey went off, yelling and screaming. How could they come in after never even speaking up after her father’s death? During her mother’s treatments, and while she was dying not a word. Yet here they wanted her to be part of their family. Julian and Rosanne stepped in and not only told the man to leave but told him he would be hearing from their own lawyer. As Lindsey wasn't going anywhere she didn't want to. He left the check and contact information behind, said they would be in contact sooner rather than later. That apparently they had plans for her and that she needed to meet the rest of the family anyway.
Lindsey left her home after the funeral, the check still uncashed. Her heart slightly broken, and a new home and family that she needed to get to know. But she held onto the memories of her parents. They were filled with so much love, hope, and untamable dreams. And she never wanted to let them down, even after they were gone. So with a heavy heart that still wanted so much and their memories pushing her forward Lindsey decided to stay with the Rickard's. And that she'd return to school after the holidays. A bit behind she would have a lot to catch up on, but she had the will and determination to do it. Lindsey would achieve everything she had dreamed of, making her parents proud. Get to know her knew found family and prove to the family that never wanted her. That she didn't need them to be great…she was already great.
