Power Rangers: Stolen World

In the year 2012, a shadow fell upon our planet. What was first thought to be a colossal space ship had settled in our orbit, a space ship that rivalled Earth's size. But this had not always been a space ship. It was a planet, Niberus. It's inhabitants had built upon it, made it their home and vessel, and had come to us. They made their intentions violently clear.

Earth was overwhelmed in weeks, and the Power Rangers fell, one by one. Only one member remained, and managed to recover all of his dead comrades Power Coins. While he could not hide the technology of the Morpher's, he did his best to make sure they couldn't tap into the Morphing Grid. He set out with the coins and scattered them around the continent. During the later days of Earth's fall, this last Ranger was caught and killed, and the invaders from Niberus claimed two Power Coins, Yellow, and Blue.

What was left of the human population was brutally suppressed. We lived in the ruins of our cities, hungry, afraid, and hopeless. We fought each other as much as our occupants, for food, living space, and many other excuses to lash out. Those who tried to change things were taken to the mines, the factories, or even to Niberus. They needed us for something, but no one knew what.

They used the two captured Power Coins to abuse the Morphing Grid, and the technology of their foot soldiers started to change. Orange power, like a tainted yellow, would show through their weapons and their visors, while the elite units would show off blue that was almost a black light.

We went through several generations of this. Soon, only the oldest of us could remember when the skies were clear and when the Niberian's had not controlled us.

Later, fewer soldiers appeared. Their ranks were being strengthened by our own. Men and women, sick of how they were forced to live, gave themselves up to the Niberian's for the drug N-Gauge. It eradicated all feelings of hunger and sleep, and with it went their compassion. Their eyes would blaze with orange light and their voices changed so that we no longer heard our friends and family... as they beat and harassed us.

Attempts at organized resistance were rare, and never successful. I've grown up in this hopeless life, and have no reason to hate my own kind any less then I do our enslavers. I know something that they don't want us to... they're desperate. That planet they live in? It's dead, and they are too if they don't find another to transform. They want ours, and they can't even leave if they wanted to. How do I know this?

Wrong place, wrong time. I never was very lucky.


Power Rangers: Stolen World follows a young woman raised in the occupation, beaten and starved by Niberian's and Humans alike. She was beaten for being in the way of a small, covert convoy slipping through an alleyway, and her beating was interrupted by a Resistance ambush. Their precious cargo, the Red Power Coin, in a Niberian designed Morpher, fell at her feet, and she became the new Red Ranger.

Stolen World is a darker chapter of Power Ranger's, with less organization, only a few Rangers, more ruthless and frightening enemies, and a much larger emphasis on gunplay. Many weapons will be both melee and ranged at once, while many enemies will have dependable shielding options.

You will be fighting the N-Gauge addicts, super strong and brutal. N-Ghouls, standard 'Putty' class soldiers, weak and in large groups, with melee and ranged capabilities, but no shielding. N-Ghasts, the Elite class, with heavy shielding against ranged and powerful melee and ranged. N-Creeps, agile and weak units that slink up walls and cling to any surface, like skittering ranged infantry. And soon, Dakon (Day-Kon) will assume command of the oppression, bringing with him a much more terrifying and brutal enemy, one even the Red Ranger and the future holders of the lost Power Coins will have trouble facing.

With every warehouse you destroy, every mine you liberate, and every outpost you bring down, more and more people will follow. This is your world. Show the N-Forces that your not sharing.

How are you addressing remaining Rangers, have all the coins been found? Or will we be finding them?
Do we even play as Rangers in this and more a human element lead by the Red Ranger?

To answer Hyena, I'm pretty sure all Power Ranger groups use Coins in whatever technology is their Morphers. To answer Helenia, the Black and Pink Power Coins are still hidden from the Niberians. Memories from the Red Coin will help you lead you to them. The Green Coin will be fought over at some point.

I'm very proud of Haydon though ^^ Won't spoil anything (I'm actually capable of keeping surprises, hehe) but I will say that he and his forces are not Niberians. They are allies of them, and scare the crap out of them.

This will still be going by an episode to episode basis, with 'monster of the week' encounters split up by the occasional plot furthering episode. Red Ranger will be befriended by ordinary humans with second hand rip off Power Rangers technology (the result of Niberus getting their hands on Coins Blue and Yellow)

I'm going to be game leader, so the bad guys will be at my command, and I'll be writing the story :) I pictured Red Ranger having a bladed halberd that fired lasers from the blade end, but I'm not playing her :)

Someone who doesn't fall for the double standard!? Anyway what happened to all the human males? Anyway would these rangers have different powers and such? I wanna know more about the rangers and their potential powers themselves.

I'm thinking there could be a female human, a male human, and a Niberian. Because if we're having super powered drugged up human traitors, there's not much point in keeping the home team the typical stereotypes of goody goods either.

The powers themselves are open to discussion. The typical abilities will be there, enhanced speed and strength and reflexes, increased resistance to physical damage, super jumping, wall scaling, inherent knowledge of melee combat and guns. Like with the Power Rangers in general, if you knew how to fight in real life, that will help you a great deal, but the Coins themselves can teach you the basics instantly the first time you Morph, while your actual style will change depending on you. A fist fighter, for instance, is already going to know what he's doing and have bare knuckle style, while someone whose not a fighter but carries messages for the Resistance is going to slowly develop a combination of basic martial arts merged with parkour and acrobatics.

The powers themselves come in three flavours. Melee, ranged, and shielding. Melee is your bladed weapon, ranged the gun that's worked into it, and shielding the sturdy curtain of energy you can summon with your wrist. It's not made to withstand huge punishment, only the occasional gun burst or to soften the blow of a bigger attack. But all weapons have three stages of power.

First stage is standard, you swing it, it hits people. Second stage, it powers up and does huge damage, wider radius, lets you perform your special attack (halberd, for instance, could let you slam the bottom onto the pavement and send out a shockwave across the floor, or the gun on it could be powered up to fire an almost gattling gun like volley). Level 3 is dangerous, and can overload you, so only use when desperate.

Your still hugely outnumbered, and the second you Morph, Niberus has a lock on you. The longer you fight, the harder it will get. In true 'Resistance' fashion, you have to hit hard and fast, then gtfo.

I'm sure you can find your own unique powers though :) each Ranger could have one or two special skills, like they did with RPM, one stopping time, one haviing a temporary shield, one with ice, one with fire...

What are the Niberians and what would they look like? And of course one of the all important issues would be the standard "make my monster grow" and the zords  or giant freaking mechs or at least one of them

I have a feeling this premise is going to be win of the highest level so when the character sheet is filed out I am certain to fill it out. And that power axe would double as a very kick ass shotgun/R.P.G

Okay, Niberians... tall, slender, and surprisingly weak. They're thinkers, not fighters. Slaves and robots do the heavy work. Very fast though. Clawed fingers, round red eyes that blink like a lizards, grey scales that flash green and bronze in the light, under developed fins on the forearms, ankles and back. No visible mouth or nostrils, small slits in the pink, fleshy neck. Speak through telepathy. Fantastic sense of touch. Using a hand on solid scenery is like scanning every small vibration in a huge radius.

Majority of them are in stasis, though some remain able to speak from their pods so that they can oversee events and instruct the ship. Clearly, Earth appeals because of it's oceans.

Well, DN wanted the Black Ranger to be a mysterious Batman sort of character, a Power Ranger that never demorphs and never sticks around to talk, constantly stalking and fighting the Niberians and then dashing off as quick as he came.

I was thinking that a Niberian, who's physiology was slowed down by the long stasis, was testing a modified Black suit that would draw a slow but steady and constant stream of power from the Morphing Grid. If a normal Ranger is an explosion, then this guy would be a forest fire. Of course, he'd go rogue and become The Black Knight.

At least, that was my idea :) thoughts?

Also, to answer your question, yes, the people fucking hate the Niberians. Which is why I wanted one as a Ranger. DN's suggestion for a rogue Black Ranger fit with the idea very nicely, so I want to incorporate them, but not if it means forcing anyone into a particular character :) about the only thing I am forcing is Red Ranger being a girl. I REALLY want a rogue Niberia Black Ranger, but I won't push that if no one wants to play it.

So, Red, Green, Black. Send character sheets. Include a back up sheet. If you don't get picked, you'll get a guest character. Good luck.

Question. If you want a Niberian then shouldn't it be the Yellow or Blue Ranger since by your opening story so far that the Yellow and Blue Coins are in the hands of the enemy?

Hmmm... I never thought of that. Yellow and Blue are powering the two different armies, Yellow for the Niberian's N-Bots and to help create N-Gauge, and Blue for Dakon's forces. I wrote that assuming the Coins would be absolutely used up/in constant use. I suppose I could change that, if it helps, but three players is a lot...

What if the Niberian was a specially made unit, the Niberian attempt to reverse engineer with what they learned with Blue and Yellow? Like a Nova Ranger, silver and black and white?

Actually this is from one of the Disney Power Rangers after Saban sold them to that corp (and before he bought it back when Disney let it die and Saban went to Nick with the franchise, reviving the Power Rangers.) Dino Thunder of course. Anyway glad you liked it.

technically each season has at least three and then gains up to five or six... of course SPD had the most rangers of any of the US. shows with a whopping ten rangers if you count the scientist dude imagining/faking himself as a ranger and not including the Dino Thunder cross over.

Last question of course. Is there any type of theme for the new rangers concerning their powers or can we absolutely make it up? I think that all ranger characters should conspire so that we fit well in theme with the other before we go filling these templates out.

By my calculations there are about four unclaimed ranger slots. Red, Green, Black, and Pink As for whom plays Pink that might be a touch difficult. No one has stepped forward for it.

Pink hasn't always existed :) RPM didn't have a Pink Ranger. But I'll place the slot there just in case. So, we have 4-5 characters to be filled, a female Red, up to three Resistance fighters who will later become Ranger's, and Nova Ranger, the Niberian.

And I can't believe I forgot about the theme... damn o.o That's not something I should have overlooked... hmmm... lemme think a minute.

I'm guna suggest an urban crimes unit, since the Ranger's were never created specifically for the Niberian threat and were set up in an urban city before Niberus came.

Oh and one last question that hampers my mind like crazy. If the Niberians are physically weak (fast they may be) then how in the world would one become a worthy ranger since they naturally do not have the physical prowess needed which is a staple of a ranger?

Sorry to be such a pain in the ass but these feel to me to be legit questions needing answers. Perhaps the Ranger Powers adjusts them into a more suitable version? Akin to how in Turbo the little kid who is the blue ranger becomes a fully adult human.

Remember that in canon, being physically able and trained can only help but is not required. Morphing makes you stronger and faster, and gives an inherent, yet basic understanding of hand to hand fighting. Niberian's were never a very strong species because of their ocean homes, but the very long stasis period has rendered their bodies weak. The oldest ones cannot leave their pods at all, and instead act as overseers.

This was another reason the Nova Coin was made to be 'slow burning', so that you would never need to demorph. Of course, the Niberian Ranger would be young, both in age and in stasis time. He'd be the same kind of weak as a scrawny teenager would be, but mostly in muscle mass. The stasis wouldn't have dulled his body by much yet, so out of Nova Form, he'd be in trouble, but not in an "Oh God, can't stand up, falling over now!" way.

Name: Yavaris, Blessed Son of the Niberians

Age: 24

Appearance: The Niberian stands at six feet seven inches in height with a slightly more developed muscle mass akin to an average persons strength however the most notable difference is the eyes coloration of a golden pigment and the presence of a more vibrant hue in the scales as they are emerald green. His attire is of silken clothes that bear a royal sash of red and gold trim with a brooch upon his neck within the courts of the Niberians. Yavaris since his reanimation from Stasis has had his physical prowess diminished slightly. At his peak he was as strong and nimble as a human olympian swimmer due to his military upbringing and combat training. Whilst the training is still remember he must bring his body back up to its former strength.

Temperament: Calm and collected Yavaris, is an understanding and compassionate person tempered with conviction. He knows what has to be done sometimes even if he doesn't like the methods. When he puts his mind to a course of action he will see it through and stand by it. He is filled with strength of will and personality but the glaring flaw is his loyalty despite the wrongs done by his fellow race through his fathers whims. Seeing the decadence and despair that has taken root in his own people has begun to throw him into hesitation.

Background: Yavaris was the main adversary of the former Rangers before the hostile takeover of Earth. During the battles the rangers managed to best him time and again during the beginning but he always returned knowing that his species survival meant that the rangers must fall and it fueled his loyalty and convictions. He saw it as what needed to be done. Whilst others favored underhanded tactics he did not, willing the fight the rangers honorably. However soon enough they found the magic bullet they needed to defeat the rangers and the task was given to Yavaris...

After the fall of the rangers Yavaris went into stasis for he had been heavily injured after the battle that decided Earth's fate for many many generations to come and for the moment he was content that he had done his species well in ensuring their survival. When he awoke the world he had fought so hard to earn for his people had been taken for granted and the beings they had claimed for their own were made less then even slaves, nothing more then guinea pigs for the enjoyment of a few puppet masters. It was painful to watch and gave room for doubt to take hold within him.

He was however brought out of stasis for a reason other then his own wounds healing. For the Niberians had need of their champion once again for the Rangers had returned somehow. He was to take up the mantle of their champion once again and bring down the newly returned Rangers. Witnessing the new world was quite a sight however, capable of bringing such painful guilt and self loathing so great he could barely restrain it. As the time grows closer to the hour of his readjustment to the new world, now he must make a choice between his people's security or doing what he believes is right to save them from themselves.

Ranger colour/weapons/powers

Nova Ranger: The Power Suit itself is a Composite Alteration of an unknown Ranger with Silver or White as the primary color with jet black trim. The suit is a reinforced model amplifying Niberian Strength and Speed whilst improving the shield technology so that the Nova Ranger can withstand tremendous punishment in battle should the need arise. Within the suit one can surpass the normal abilities of a Niberian, akin to the original Power Rangers as Strength, Speed and Combat Knowledge increase though it varies upon the host.. It is also a energy restoring suit capable of channeling and reusing energy from the morphing grid in order to allow the Nova Ranger a significant length of time to remain morphed.

The primary weapon of the Nova Ranger consist of the deadly Nova Axe which functions as a diamond edged axe sharpened down to a molecule for superior cutting ability. It can also function as a powerful energy shotgun when primed in this fashion. When in level two the energy shotgun feature is upgraded into a burst effect similar to an RPG damaging a wider area and causing major damage to both personnel and structures as a result. Level Three causes the Nova Axe to become a rail gun of sorts capable of causing amazing damage that can harm even a Zord.

Civilian weapons/skills: As a Niberian, Yavaris has superior freedom of movement within water and can breathe within it indefinitely thanks to his gills. Telepathy is his primary means of communication so His natural claws giving him the ability to climb vertical surfaces and give him a significant advantage in hand to hand combat. His normal weapons unmorphed is a plasma blaster along with a saber. His knowledge of combat and tactics is vast and as such he is a formidable opponent. His hand to hand combat style relies upon not only his speed in battle but uses a variant of wing chun and mantis which allows him to use his opponents own strength and leverage to catch them off balance then counter strike then press the advantage.

Temperament: A skilled martial artist who has trained for years, Tommy has moved into the realm of mixed martial arts allowing him to expand his skills for battle and become a thorn in the sides of the alien forces that have invaded earth.

Background:
Tommy grew up learning martial arts and the meaning of honor and discipline, he had always held great respect and love for being a ranger. After the alien attack and finding out that these creatures where doing everything in there power to gain the ability to use the ranger power for there own, he began to search for a way to morph himself and was lucky enough to find a man on his death bed who held a power coin. Both the man and Oliver felt that the coin was in it's proper place when he first morphed.

Ranger color/weapons/powers:
Black, A sword that can be inserted into a mechanism and becomes the power source / trigger for a long range sniper rifle. Morphing Grid EMP, a device built into his armor that will effectively shut down any kind of ranger within a one mile radius, unfortunately it works on both friend and foe and drains so much power that if the battle isn't ended at that point Tommy runs the risk of being De-morphed and passing out in front of the enemy.

Civilian weapons/skills:
Judo, Karate, Tai Kwan Do, Mixed Martial Arts, Sword training, Military weapons training, one switch blade and one katana when de-morphed.

And just so you al know, there are plenty of instances where a Ranger has a name that has absolutely nothing to do with anything xD most get the colour, or number, or power as their name (SPD Ranger 1, for example, and Wildforce Raging Lion) but not all of them conform to a filing system. (SPD Omega and Nova Ranger's for example)

It was because of SPD I went and scrapped the name for the Niberia Ranger :/

Temperament:  Despite the hard times they are in, Ariana is compassionate and able to show mercy to her enemies if they happen to ask, which is very rarely.  Still, after years and years of hell and being treated like shit, her merciful side is buried under layers of cold hard steel and unbreakable resolve and will.  Still, she is a strong and nimble martial artist with a strong sense of right and wrong, even in this futuristic hell that she's in.  She knows better than to hope, but her parents were abducted long ago and she hopes she's able to find them and save them if they were transformed into the addicted zombies that marked most of the aliens' footsoldiers.

Background:  Ariana Saito started in what was left of downtown Chicago.  Traveling what was left of the continent with runaways trying to find a safe haven, Ariana kept her group safe as best as she could with her mixed Martial Arts training and technical skills.  A born and intelligent hacker, the girl can pass through virtually any firewall and burn through any circuit in a matter of seconds if the right tools are available to her, all of which she learned at her parents' knees before they were captured and subsequently killed most likely by their alien oppressors.

Ranger colour/weapons/powers.  Red.  A bo staff that she wields with deadly accuracy and efficiency.  The staff is more symbolic to her peace loving nature, but it works as an effective weapon as well since it unfolds several deadly spikes on both ends on command.  Pulling it apart and reassembling it yields a powerful shotgun that can clear a room in one shot in red energy beams from the end.  The last makes her an unstoppable ball of pure raging fire, but it eats up energy fast and she is akin to a berserker in such a state, using her repressed rage at the world around her as a catalyst to this power of last resort which will leave her exhausted when it wears out.

Civilian weapons/skills;  Computer hacking, bio engineering, chemical knowledge, combat first aid, Judo, Karate, Tai Kwan Do, Mixed Martial Arts, parkour, Military Weapons Training, and Flight Training.  (Don't ask how since it's better you don't know.)

Doubt Blue and Yellow will show up, but there will be regular monster encounters. I won't be choosing them, I'm simply writing the Niberian's enlisting one henchman, and then hand the reins over. Should keep things interesting even for me.

I'm sorry it's not coming along quick enough for you Vergil, but I'm extremely exhausted and lacking any kind of inspiration at the moment, and not in any state to start a group game for 4 people and most probably more. I'm sure I wouldn't be so irritated at your post Vergil if it weren't for the sleep deprivation, but if you can't wait a day or two and feel like you could do a better job, by all means, go start your own and get some players of your  own.

There is a lot of work being put into this, and I am trying my hardest to make sure everyone enjoys it. It's not going to happen over night, and it's not going to happen at all if it's turned into a chore for me >.>

Please be patient, everyone. I am trying, and I do want you all to have fun. I apologise for being slow, but it'll be done when it's done.
