My character (Ratigua, the ship's engineer) is still in the game as well; I've just been waiting for a suitable post opportunity to follow my last one. Also been suffering a distinct lack of net access, so that's slowed me down as well. We expect that to be remedied by the weekend though, and I'll be trying to post something new by tomorrow evening.

I totally dig the sci-fi, and any game with pirates and slavers gets my attention, so I'm definitely interested.

I'll check out the story thread and stuff, and once I know a little more I'll start thinking about a character, if you're still taking people.

Where's the IC thread? Found the link to the OOC, but where's the IC? :P

Looking over the characters I'm not sure what the ship might need now, especially given this is a restart of sorts...any suggestions?

Here is the link to the IC thread.

Right now my character is hanging from the rafters being tortured. Hoping that someone with show mercy or at least be willing to cut a deal.

I'm currently hallucinating a non-existing guard at the airlock... so at least in my mind there was room for one of those?* ;D

Here's an idea to run by you folks (full write up pending basic approval of the concept):

I really like the idea of clones being sometimes thought of as property, so I wanted to come up with a clone concept. How about a co-pilot/WSO (weapon systems operator) who's a slightly genetically engineered clone, built to be fast, smart, durable and small. Not gideon levels, of course, just a little edge over a pure human, the idea being that her clone line was meant to be fighter pilots. They were given superior reflexes and hand-eye coordination, plus built tough in order to withstand the extreme stresses and g-forces of fighter combat. Small size is good for cramped cockpits, and with her tailored genes being attractive was pretty much a byproduct. Of course, being a pretty, petite clone, sentients do tend to think you were built for something other than combat flying, and being tough enough to take some abuse doesn't help your case...

In order to not step on Jovi's (orderNchaos) pilots toes, I'll keep very young. Whatever would be appropriate for only a year or two out of the cloning vats, so inexperienced. Focus would have been on small ships as well, not this cutter/corvette or whatever it is we're flying, so I wouldn't be a good candidate for pilot yet anyways, but I'd make for an excellent co-pilot and gunner.

Thoughts?

I like the idea of a WSO or gunner.  Jovi's good....but it's hard to pilot the Talon and shoot at a moving target at the same time.  You could learn new tricks from Jovi while you gain experience shooting the shit out of stuff.  Rune...thoughts?

What we really need is to get Vandren back or get a captain/negotiator type that the black market traders know and respect so we can get good trade on our loot.  Unless everyone is thinking Jovi inherited the ship from the Captain when he was fragged by Nate Dusk.

I have no problem with Jovi inheriting the ship. However, we are a little pilot heavy, especially if "Harmony" is ever allowed to fly. Then again, Maybe the Crescent can pick up (find or appropriate) a small fighter craft to use as escort. Then we can have one person piloting the Cresent and another in the fighter.  A gunner could be very useful. Could also uses a gunman (small arms specialist), Heavy weapons specialist, close combat expert, black marketeer, etc.

I was trying to think of a role that would both get me the character I want and a position on the ship no one else was doing. Harmony/Nate would still be a way better fighter pilot that my character, so she'd have dibs, and keep in mind, fighters and capital ships are probably two different pilot branches. This is one of the other reasons my character would still be defering to Jovi when it comes to flying our own ship.

I could perhaps do a combat specialist of some kind, but doesn't the RP still have at least one active? And then I'd have to play a more physically imposing character than I'd like (not neccessarily size, but capability). Hrmm...I will ponder.
