The Fortune Teller ~ open to all ~ Madame is OUT
« on: August 16, 2010, 01:18:51 AM »
The Fortune Teller – Madame Zoya

As you enter Madame Zoya’s tent at the local fair, you are greeted by the scent of burning incense, a heady aromatic odor that fills the nostrils to the point where you can almost taste it. The tent is somewhat dark, but you can make out a small table with the ubiquitous crystal ball on a small stand next to a deck of Tarot cards. Looking around, there is not much decoration in place. The red and white striped fabric of the tent appears well used and somewhat yellowed with age. The chair in front of the crystal ball is utilitarian at best, not comfortable looking, but good enough for however long it will take to have your fortune read. It is then that you spot the Madame. She appears tall as she sits up straight on the other side of the table. She wears her long raven hair straight and flowing. Her eyes, a warm hazel, bore into you, belying the placid smile on her pale face. She gestures for you to take a seat, the only other seat in the tent. Leaning forward slightly, her jewelry jingling, all a part of her stereotypical “gypsy” look, she smiles a bit more warmly. “Welcome,” she says, “and what can I do for you today?”

Rules

1.   One customer at a time, please. Madame Zoya’s tent is only so big. Please wait your turn.
2.   You must enter and you must exit. No one should be left wondering if you’re still visiting Madame. (To be clear, your first post must be your “entrance” [yes, you must describe entering the tent], and your last post must describe your exit.) If you do not exit clearly, Madame will escort you out.
3.   Upon entering, you may request either:
a fortune – this is a relatively short reading, 1-3 cards only…
a reading – this is a longer reading, but only about 3-5 cards, depending on your question
4.   If no question is specified, Madame will give you a “general reading” – this does not mean “generic,” rather it is more along the lines of “let’s see what comes up today!”
5.   One reading, per customer, per day…no exceptions…So, if you have something specific you want to know about, please ask!
6.   In spite of rule #5, you are welcome to stay and chat with Madame Zoya after your reading. You are, of course, the reason Madame Zoya is here. So, whether you want to ask about your reading, or whether you wish to talk about the weather, Madame is happy to entertain you. However, please be aware that others may be waiting. It would be unfair to monopolize Madame’s time.
7.   Regarding "payment" for Madame's services - Madame works on a "tips only" basis, so whatever you feel the reading was worth, Madame shall graciously accept.
8.   Madame Zoya’s is a place out of time…meaning, you do not need to stick to a particular time period or setting. If you wish for it to be Renaissance Italy, by all means. If you prefer that it’s set in Topeka, Kansas circa 2010, that’s fine as well.
9.   Madame reserves the right to refuse a reading should any of the aforementioned rules be ignored. Madame will ask you politely to leave, at that point. You would be wise to do so.
10.   Remember, this is a game! It is “for entertainment purposes only” ;) as the disclaimer goes…

Lastly: Madame only takes customers when she is “IN” – her status will be listed in the post’s subject line & Madame will post a notice in the thread as well. Madame will most likely lock the "doors" while she is “OUT.”

If anything else comes up, it will surely be added to the list. Thank you for visiting! Madame hopes you enjoy your stay.

'Quin looked around curiously, his hands shoved deep in the denim pockets of his jeans. He was uncertain where he was, and less so about how he'd gotten there, but nothing seemed dangerous or threatening; quite the contrary. The tents surrounding him were bright and welcoming, even with little more than starshine and moonlight to illuminate them. Fog roiled just at his ankles, and he stepped carefully on the worn dirt path in front of him. He glanced left and right as he ambled down the midway, and stopped in front of a faded wooden sign. Simple black letters proclaimed this the tent of Madame Zoya.

'Hm. Fortune teller, eh? I wonder...' 'Quin checked his pockets and found them empty, save for a few coins in a back pocket. A night breeze whistled through the carnival, and he shivered a little in his thin black T-shirt. 'Well, if only to get out of the wind a minute...'

He stepped inside, ducking under the draping front curtain, and spied the tent's owner near the back, shrouded in darkness. As he approached the empty chair, a cobweb caught in his dark, shaggy hair, and he ran a hand through his locks to clear it free. Was it his imagination, or were the shadows growing deeper? He shrugged recklessly and placed a hand on the back of the chair. His voice was low and rough as he spoke.

"...Evening, Madame. So, how much for a fortune?"

Zoya had spent the better part of an hour alone. Night was darkening the sky quickly and she was sure that they would close early this evening. Too dark, too cold, and too foggy for people to be wandering about, she thought. Shuffling her cards idly, she looked down and laid out a quick spread for herself. Her eyes taking in the cards quickly, she mentally filed them away for later. The walls of the tent rustled noisily as the breeze picked up, and she was about to get up to start putting her things away, when a man appeared in the doorway.

Taking him in, he looked somewhat young to her. Dressed in just jeans and a black t-shirt, she could tell he was chilled from the night air. "Good evening, sir. Welcome to my little home away from home, as it were. Come in, come in..." she said, rising to greet him. "How much for a fortune, you ask? Well, my dear, my fortune only costs as much as you are willing to give." She gestured to the small chair in front of her table and moved quickly to tie down the open flap of the tent. "I hope you don't mind, the wind is so chilly tonight!"

Tossing a log into the brazier in the corner, she smiled at her visitor before returning to her seat. "Now, what can I do for you tonight? A quick fortune? A reading? Perhaps there is some new girl you are interested in, yes? Tell Madame Zoya what you want, and she shall provide..." Her eyes sparkled in the low light from the fire and her smile was warm and inviting. Beginning to shuffle the card already, she awaited his reply...

'Quin cocked an eyebrow in curiosity as he slid into the offered seat. He tapped one boot on the dirt floor, unconsciously keeping time with the jangling of the chimes outside. 'Sounds like a fair price,' he thought to himself, 'but what does that buy you? A fortune you like, a fortune that's true, or something in between?' He leaned back in the chair for a few moments, studying the gypsy woman. She reminded him of a painting he once saw, a portrait of one of his own ancestors, and wished--not for the first time--he'd had a chance to learn more about his family's history. Then he put such thoughts from his mind, and tried to imagine a worthy question.

There was only one that burned in both his heart and mind, but he doubted anyone but himself could answer it truthfully. It simply sat, waiting for the day when his courage or his strength were equal to the task of facing it. He would not ask her that question.

Instead, he leaned a little closer and rested a palm on the table. There was, he thought, one other question he could ask, one he felt he could withstand. His dark brown eyes settled on hers, and his voice was low, but steady. "A reading, then. Tell me...if I will always be alone."

Zoya huffed at the implication her readings were not accurate, puffing her chest slightly. Still, she realized the young man did not mean any harm. "I would say that my readings are very accurate, my dear boy. I do not tell people what they want to hear. I tell them what they need to hear." She leaned back in her chair as well, mimicking the man's actions. Let him look, she thought, I am not the one with things to hide. She met his gaze steadily as he seemed to contemplate what to ask. She could see that there was something weighing heavily on him, but she did not press. If there was something he needed to know, it would come out in the cards whether he liked it or not.

Her golden eyes danced from his hand upwards, looking into his for a moment before nodding at his question. "A reading it is then...it is a gentle question, but I hope you do not mind if I use a harsher deck. Something tells me, you need this right now..." She kept her eyes on him as she shuffled. Her fingers deftly moving the cards about, making them rattle together. She quickly cut the deck and dealt four cards in a single row.

The Eight of Cups - a lone figure is seen walking away from 8 cups stacked on each other
The Star - a naked woman is seen pouring water onto both earth and into a pool, several stars are above her
The Hermit - an old wise man with a staff and a light is hunched and walking alone
The Emperor - a wizened war general sits upon his throne, rams heads decorating it boldly

Looking up at him, to gauge his response to the pictures on the cards, she took a moment to breathe in deeply and exhale softly.

He watched carefully as the cards were pulled, one by one, and spread on the table. He had no idea what any of it meant, but the picture painted by his imagination was, he had to admit, an expected one. 'Quin had never had his fortune told before, so he was unsure if it would be polite to ask for her interpretation, or rely on his own. After a few more moments' consideration, he decided it didn't matter. She would likely tell him what he already suspected. He nodded once, curtly, and rose from the chair. He reached into his back pocket and withdrew the coins; not much, but all he had. A fitting payment, he thought, for such a fortune. Whatever his future held, he knew the gypsy was not responsible for it, so he offered them with a friendly smile of thanks, warmed against the night's chill, and turned to leave the tent.

Madame watched as the young man rose. "I have not given you the reading yet, my good man. And it is cold out there. Come sit back down, please, and I will tell you what the cards mean." She smiled up at him just as warmly and began...

Pointing towards the first card, she said, "This one represents your past. You'll see the gentleman walking away from that which he's built, yes? The cups are all stacked upon each other, signifying that someone put an effort into building something. But, then they leave it. As though it didn't matter to them anymore." She sighed sadly and continued. "You have obviously been involved with someone before, but for whatever reason, you felt it was necessary to walk away..."

Adjusting the card slightly as some errant breeze had turned it, she pointed to The Star. "This represents your current state, the present. The Star indicates a lot of hope. You have hope for your future. And there are bright prospects ahead for you. But, you must not be so caught up in the future that you do not deal with the present." Her eyes looked up into his, giving him a piercing look if he were to see it in the low lighting of the tent.

Jerking her head towards The Hermit, she grimaced slightly. "That right there represents your obstacles. And while you may think the meaning is obvious, it is not quite so. The Hermit usually indicates someone who is very well schooled. Someone who is now a teacher, one who perhaps travels to and fro to show others, to teach. Why should this be an obstacle for you? The Hermit has no roots. He has no way of staying anywhere long enough to attract someone to him. For, by the time he's done so, he's ready to leave." She sighed once more, and pulled her shawl a bit tighter around her shoulders. The tent flap flickered in the wind. Her eyes looked at it accusingly, but continued on.

Touching the last card, she said, "Finally, we have The Emperor. He is older, wiser now. He has been through many battles. You see his throne? Decorated with the heads of the Ram? They are symbols of virility, of course. Of his prowess, able to conquer at will, eh?" She chuckled at this, having known  many men who fit this description well over the years. "This card represents your future. Note that he sits alone. And yet, within the deck, there is the Empress. I think this is a good sign for you. You will not always be alone. But, you have many more years of loneliness ahead of you until you settle down with a mate."

Zoya sits back and looks at the cards once more. Then, again, her eyes dance with the young man's. "I must tell you this. Your future is not set in stone. No matter what the cards may say, they merely point out the path that you are on right now. You have the power to change things, if you so desire. Take heed of your obstacles. Do you wish to continue being alone, whether you travel physically or spiritually, your current path prevents you from finding a mate any time soon. But," she said, pointing towards the Emperor card again, "you may very well find it later in life. So, again, I tell you that it is up to you, which path you choose."

Smiling at him softly, she murmurs, "Now, do you have any questions for me about your reading, dear boy?"

'Quin felt a bit stupid as he returned to his seat. [Well, at least that question's been answered,] he thought to himself. He sat quietly, waiting for her to speak again.

His eyes widened considerably as she laid out the cards' meanings. It was true, there had been something important to him once, but he had never been certain who had walked away first. And he supposed part of him did harbor hope for the future, though he kept it carefully buried and out of sight. The third card, though...it was true, he did suffer from a powerful, starving wanderlust, made all the worse by his inability to feed it. But, a teacher? He shook his head and sighed softly. No matter what, it seemed that was one fate he just couldn't escape. And then, there was the fourth card. The Emperor. The conqueror. He'd been through so much already, so many trials...and now there would be more? But there was most likely nothing for it. Others had been through worse; others would always have been through worse, and complaining wouldn't make the path any easier. The notion that a reward might be at the end of it did lessen the weight, even if it did prove to be nothing more than kind words for a weary ear.

He smiled again, a tired, old smile that looked somehow wrong on his young face, and shook his head. No more questions. Not tonight. 'Quin pushed the coins forward on the table once again, rose, and left the tent, back out into the night. It seemed someone else was already awaiting their turn...

Zoya made note of the young man's expressions as she went through the meanings of the cards. She saw his weary old man's smile and nodded to herself. Yes, this one needed the harsh deck, she thought. Sighing softly, she almost regretted using it, but sometimes people needed to hear what they didn't want to hear.

Accepting the coins as he pushed them forward, she called out "Good luck!" to his back as he walked out of her tent. She placed the cards in the deck once more and started shuffling again, awaiting her next customer.

Celeste roamed the carnival all by her lonesome.  It was late, there was a full moon shining down on her, casting a glow upon her pale skin.  It was a cool night with a little bit of wind chilling the air.  She shivered and clutched her black coat tigher to her body.  The breeze blew some of her dark cocoa colored hair in front of her deep amethyst colored eyes.  She was reaching up with her fingers to tuck her hair behind her ears when she could smell a beautiful aroma coming from a little ways ahead.

Intrigued by this, she stepped forward a little ways until she saw a sign reading, "Madame Zoya."  Celeste smiled to herself, since she had never met a fortune teller. She eagerly stepped inside, immediately noticing the beautiful and exotic looking lady sitting behind her table.

"Hello," she greeted the fortune teller with a tingle of excitement coursing through her body.  "I believe I would like to have my fortune read."

Zoya looked up as her next client walked through the doorway of her tent. She was a lovely girl. The contrast of her pale skin and dark hair was striking. "Welcome, my dear...welcome..." she said. Pointing to the chair in front of her, Zoya smiled warmly. "Have a seat, my dear. You'd like to have your fortune read, you say? Well, you've come to the right place then!"

Zoya picked up her cards and began to shuffle lightly, her fingers deftly moving the cards about. Looking at the girl, she pondered whether she wanted to use this deck. No, maybe the other, she thought. Putting the cards down gently on the table, she looked into the girl's eyes, surprised at their colour. "Now, did you want just your fortune or a reading? I can do either, and you only need pay me what you see fit to pay me..."

Her chair creaked slightly as she leaned back in it. "So, what do you say, my dear? What shall it be? And while we're at it, did you have a question? Or would you just like to see what comes up?"

Celeste bit her lower lip as she opened up her jacket to fetch her coin purse.  She withdrew a generous handful of gold coins and gently placed them into the table.  "I would like to have the reading, please."

She thought about the latter part of what the fortune teller had asked.  Her eyes were a bit wide and nervous as she sat there alone in the tent with the stranger.  "I guess I do not have a specific question that comes to my mind.  I just am curious as to what your cards may say about me and what lies ahead."

Zoya quirked an eyebrow as the girl took out a large amount of gold coins from her purse and set them on the table. Not saying anything about the payment as of yet, she nodded as the girl asked her for a reading. "Of course, my dear...We'll just see what comes up then." Pulling out another deck, she began to shuffle the cards again. They flew withing her hands, clicking against each other as the melded two piles together. They whirred softly as she arched them and let them flutter together within her grasp. Repeating this a few times, Zoya cut the deck and laid out five cards in front of her.

The Knight of Cups - a fey can be seen astride a lobster, a cup in his hands, a jovial expression on his face
The Queen of Pentacles - her face made up almost as a geisha or a pretty clown, the queen sits on the floor, holding a large coin to her chest
The Knight of Pentacles - this knight looks more fierce than the other, even though he is atop a large rabbit with a coin about its neck
The Emperor - the fey emperor is seated in his throne which floats in the air, his sword can be seen jutting from a rock above him
The Five of Swords - a fey blows fairy dust into the wind as she sits on the hilt of a great sword buried in the earth

Zoya regarded the cards solemnly. "Well, this looks interesting, doesn't it, my dear?" Zoya looked up with a twinkle in her eye. Examining the cards once more, she murmured, "Just give me a moment to collect my thoughts, and I shall tell you what they mean..."

Celeste nodded as she peered down at the cards.  None of them looked too ominous, even though she had no idea what they meant.  The character portraying the Queen of Pentacles actually looked quite adorable.  This came as a bit of relief.  She didn't realize her shoulders had been a little tense so she sat back in the chair and tried to relax as she waited to see what Madame Zoya would tell her.

Zoya fingered the edge of the Knight of Cups card lightly and smiled. "This is the Knight of Cups, sometimes called chalices. This card represents your past. So, you can probably see that he's something of a happy-go-lucky fey. The thing about this one is that he is also very sensitive. Very romantic, he is the sort that will do whatever it takes for love. I'd say that, in your past, you've led a fairly happy life. This is not to say you've never suffered, but if anything did come about, you would likely brush it off."

Pointing to the next card in the row, she said, "Now, this is the Queen of Pentacles. As you can see, she's quite pretty. She is dressed in a clown's outfit, but she is not the sort to squirt you with a fake boutonniere. She is the elegant mime. Also note the coin in her lap, with the sun and moon. This is to express the duality of her character. This card represents your present. You are obviously more comfortable in who you are now than when you were younger." Zoya paused, "But then, aren't we all?" Smiling, she continued. "Still, you have come into your own as a woman, better able to deal with the things life throws at you. This is a card that represents a smart woman, one who is able to balance both career and family, should she have one."

Pausing in her speech, Zoya looked up at the girl. "Any questions so far? Shall I go on?"

Celeste gave a bit of a sheepish smile.  "Well to be honest I'm not quite certain if they truly describe me. Well, maybe I can agree with the second one.  I have pulled through many hardships in life and I do feel as though I am okay with who I have turned out to be.  Had I not gone through what I did, I would not be the person I am today sitting before you.  Please, do continue."

Nodding, her gaze went to the next card in the row. "The next one is the Knight of Pentacles. This card is quite fun because, while a rabbit may indicate speed, this Knight is anything but speedy. He is a slow thinker, slow mover, he does not rush into anything. Rather, he plots, he plans, he weighs every single option before making any move whatsoever." Zoya paused again. Her eyes seemed to glow in the light from the fire. The warm light illuminated one side of the girl's face and again, Zoya was struck with how pretty she was. "This card actually represents the obstacles in your path. So, perhaps you also like to weigh all of your options before making any sort of move, eh?" Zoya chuckled softly. "You know, there's nothing wrong with taking your time with things...but sometimes, if you wait too long to make a decision, the opportunity is lost. Just something to consider..."

"Next, we have The Emperor. You'll notice that even though he is high in the air, his feet are on a rock. And even though is clad in armor, his sword is sticking out from one of the stones above him. This card represents your near future, what's coming up soon for you. What I see with this card here is that you may have a bit of a battle on your hands coming up. But, that you are prepared to fight for what's yours. Your fight is on the side of right. So, I do not see a bad ending for you here. You will prevail, but of course, as with everything else, there are consequences and fallout to deal with..." Zoya paused for effect. "Which brings us to the last card."

Her delicate fingers reached out to turn the last card towards the girl. "This is the five of Swords. You'll see the fey blowing glittering dust away as she sits upon the sword. This represents the far future, what's to come in time. Your battle has been waged. The fight has been won. But this shows the effects of said battle. You will feel alone. And while you may not be sad over this, it will still affect you to some extent. Swords are an intellectual card, it's all about the mind. So, in your mind, you will feel alright with the outcome, but it will still cause a small bit of grief. You will suffer loss, no longer close to those you battled with. But, again, it was for a good cause."

Leaning back in her chair, Zoya shifted her weight slightly. It had been a long night, but she knew more customers were to come after this. The girl was sweet though, and reminded Zoya of herself in her youth. "Now, feel free to ask any questions you like...I'm sure you have at least one for me, no?" She smiled warmly again and leaned forward, her elbow resting on the table, chin in hand.

Celeste took a deep breath in and let it out gently while giving Madame Zoya's words careful consideration.  "I like what you had to say about the Knight, that made a lot of sense to me.  I do often let certain opportunities slip through my fingers because I am so hesitant to just take a chance without being absolutely sure its the right thing to do."

She glanced back down at the cards and thought about the message of her being alone.  Ending up alone was actually her worst fear in life.  However this was just a prediction after all.  What the cards said weren't a set in stone future for her.  She could take Madame Zoya's words as more of a warning of what her life could turn out like and do everything in her power to make sure she ended up with a brighter and more fulfilling future.

"I guess I do have a question...do you often hear back from those you give readings to?  Do you ever get to find out how things work out in the end for someone?"

Zoya could see the worry on the girl's face as she contemplated the cards. Her heart went out to her as she certainly did not want to make the girl sad. The warm honey of her eyes softened at her question. "Well, I have been giving readings for more than twenty two years now, so yes, I do hear back from my clients. Some of them see me more than once, if they are having a particularly difficult time with things. I do sometimes get to hear how things turned out, and I am happy to report that many of them tell me I was completely wrong!"

At this, Zoya laughed and put her hand out for the young girl to touch, if she wished. "By this, I mean, they were able to change their fate. They took heed of the warnings in the cards and made the necessary changes to enhance and enrich their lives. Nothing is set in stone, my dear. You have the power to change your fate, if you so desire. The cards merely point out the path you are on at the moment. Anything is possible..."

Her eyes crinkle at the edges slightly as she smiled. "Does that help put your mind at ease, somewhat?"

Celeste noticed the subtleness Madame Zoya was giving of reaching her hand out for comfort, and as nice and pleasant as the woman was, she was just too shy and scared to touch people.  "Yes, thank you.  I appreciate your time.  It was very lovely."

She rose from her chair and cast a big smile at the fortune teller.  "Perhaps I will be able to come back again sometime."

Then she turned around and took her leave, so that others might be able to seek the fortune teller's guidance.  As she stepped outside of the tent, the wind whipped by her again, but this time she didn't feel the chill.

Zoya nodded at the girl's thanks, not feeling slighted in the least that she did not take her hand. "You're very welcome, my dear." With her outstretched hand, she scooped up the coins and tucked them into her pocket.

Smiling warmly as the girl stood, she tilted her head slightly as she looked up at her. "Feel free to visit anytime. And by all means, come back and let me know how things went for you...."

The cards danced on top of the table as the wind picked up, causing the cloth on top of it to flutter. Touching her beloved fey, she couldn't help but grin. Gently placing the cards with the rest of the deck, she gave them a quick shuffle and wrapped them in a purple cloth, tucking them away for later.

Zoya heard the knock as she was setting up her table, lining up her decks. "Come in," she called out, silently urging the mystery person inside...Straightening up in her seat, she brushed her hair back and waited for them to enter.

TL enters and looks around, paying attention to every detail of the richly decorated tent, a mix of Gipsy and Turkish styles. In one corner, TL spots the fortune teller and respectfully bows at her before saying: "Good afternoon, Miss Zoya, I was told good references about yous skills in reading fortune. May I use your services now?"

Zoya regards the man carefully as he enters, noting how he looks all around her tent before addressing her. Nodding her head to his bow, she smiles up at him and gestures to the seat in front of her with a sweeping gesture of her hand.

"Good afternoon, kind sir. I am glad to hear I have been recommended to you." The warmth of her smile radiated across her face. "Of course, my services are at your disposal," she said. "What may I do for you today...?" Her voice trailed off as though asking him to fill in the space with his name, but she would not ask lest he not want to give it.

TL walked towards the seat Madame Zoya had indicated and sat there. Differently from the other fortune tellers, she was gorgeous and her smile only made him feel more comfortable. Slowly, TL began to relax and winked at her - he could not help flirting any woman, specially one with such a lovely dark eyes. For a moment, he gazed her eyes and got lost in them, as if he had given her a chance to read his own mind.

"Thank you! Well, I have heard you can read the fortune, cant you? But As I came from far, I would like to have something more complete, like a full reading. Is it possible, Madame Zoya?", he looked at her eyes again curiously.

"Oh...sorry, I forgot to introduce myself. I am TheLegionary. Please to meet you!"

Zoya could not help but follow the man's movements with her eyes as he sat in the chair before her. He was quite handsome, her type of man, in fact. But still, she was a business woman. She could not help but blush as he winked at her, however. She continued to smile as she looked him over. Her type, indeed, she thought.

"Yes, of course I can give you a full reading. I would be happy to, in fact." She blushed again as he made eye contact, but hid it well by reaching for her favourite deck.

Nodding as he gave his name, she said, "Pleased to meet you as well, TheLegionary. Now, did you have a question in mind, or did you want to see what would come up if we don't ask anything specific?" She quirked an eyebrow and awaited his response...

TL froze when Madame Zoya went direct to the point. For a moment, he closed his eyes. He was not sure whether to disclose or not any detail for a stranger, specially for someone said to have powers.

"I am not sure whether I should induce your readings, Madame Zoya. Maybe I have questions as you start to bring your points. Sorry, I do not meant to be rude and I highly appreciate your question.", TL said a bit hesitantly.

"But before you continue, there is something I need to give to you...", TL paused and turned to the right to take the briefcase he had left behind his chair. He  placed it on his lap, opened it and held a richly wrapped brownish box with  bonds and a sticker where one could read Godiva. Madame Zoya's client raised his eyes to meet hers again, stood up and handed the gift to Madame Zoya.

"Please accept this as a token of consideration, Madame Zoya."

Zoya had learned to read cards at her grandmother's knee and had always been told that the less you know about a client, the better. Any information you had would often 'flavour' the reading, and you could end up giving them false information. But, since TL didn't seem to want to give her a question, and in fact, seemed more inclined to talk, she acquiesced to his desire and put her deck aside for the moment.

"As you wish, sir. If you would prefer to just talk for a bit, that is fine with me." She gave him what she hoped to be her warmest smile, her eyes lighting up as he took a small box from the briefcase he was carrying. Rising in her seat to accept it graciously, she immediately recognized it as a box of chocolates. One of her favourite brands, in fact. She was surprised at the gift, which showed in her face, but it was a pleasant surprise.

"Thank you very much, TheLegionary," she said sweetly. "I do appreciate fine chocolates very much. And I'm very familiar with this brand." Putting the box down to her right, she met his gaze once more. "I hope you will forgive me for not having one right away. I just got through eating, though I will be sure to enjoy them later."

She tilted her head slightly as she looked at him. "So, what would you like to discuss, then?"

TL was pleased by her lovely reaction. A bit embarrassed, he smiled back in a friendly way, this time trying to avoid her lovely eyes. However, he did not manage to. Before seating, he gazed her eyes for long 2 seconds again. Recovering from that, the man looked at her shoulders and sat on the chair.

"I fully understand you are full. These chocolates are to be appreciated slowly, preferably when one has time to spend.", he smiled still nervous with the potential consequences of what she was going to tell him.

"Well, I think there is no point in delaying this. I need a reading, a reading about love.", TL said swiftly.

Zoya was more than a little intrigued by this man. There was a pull, an attraction to him that she had to get under control if she was to give him a good reading. Still, as she looked at him, she felt her body react to his gaze, feeling as though it was suddenly much warmer in the tent than originally thought.

Her head dipped in a nod at his comment about the chocolate. She could tell he was nervous and wanted to reach out to reassure him, but was worried about what might happen if she did so. "A reading about love," she repeated. Sighing softly, she picked up the cards once more, holding them in her hands briefly before beginning to shuffle.

"Before I begin, I want you to know that the cards merely show you the path you are on right now. If something should come up that you don't like, the cards will show you how to change your fortune." Looking deeply into his eyes once more, she asked, "Did you want to ask something more specific? Or shall we just ask about love in general?" She continued to shuffle, never letting her gaze wander from his as she did so.

TL knew Madame Zoya would make the habitual warnings about the readings - his friend had warned him about. Those eyes were penetrating him once more, making TL swallow dry. There was no way back and he nodded.

"Yes, I know that. Please go ahead. Sometimes truth can be paining. But we have to live with them, don't we?", he winked again, but trying to avoid her powerful gaze. After these words, TL stretched his legs under the table and by accident, his ankle touched a part of her legs briefly... but as everything else, that fraction of second seemed to last long five seconds.

"Sorry for that, Madame Zoya", he said with a wide smile, trying not to look at her eyes. "Shall we start now?"

Nodding sagely, she said, "Yes, we have to live with the truth, whether it pains us or not." She felt his leg brush against hers as he stretched, a small electric current running through her as their bodies made contact. Blushing once more, she swallowed hard and assented as he apologized. "Yes, let's start..."

Turning her attention to the cards in her hand, they moved swiftly as she split the deck, blended the two parts together and shuffled them into one pile again. Repeating this a few more times she began to lay the cards down. Her expression shifted with each card...

The Seven of Cups - seven cups float in the clouds, all showing some sort of gift inside
The Moon - two dogs howl at the moon as a lobster creeps onto shore
The Three of Cups - three girls dance in a circle, all holding up their cups in toast
The Emperor - a wizened old man sits upon his throne, decorated with ram's heads
The Eight of Cups - a cloaked figure walks away from a stack of eight cups

Not satisfied with this, Madame turns over the deck to see what card lies at the bottom, quickly turning the deck back as she spots the Ten of Swords below.

The Ten of Swords - a man is shown lying on the ground with ten swords stuck in his back

Looking up at TL with an unreadable expression on her face, she gives him a moment to look over the cards before going on. "Ready?" she asks.

TL observed carefully the cards she was placing on the table covered with a rich Turkish carpet. While she was shuffling the cards, he held the corner of the carpet and examined the other side, just to confirm his suspicious about the good quality of the carpet. As Madame Zoya asked him, the lady heard an affirmative answer.

"Yes, I am", TL replied promptly. He did not want to look afraid of his fortune, since he had underwent lots of bad moments and experiences. Little could be worse.

"Please explain what you read..."

Zoya noticed that he was not looking at the cards at all, but instead was examining everything else in the tent, it seemed. Sighing lightly, she began...

"The first card is the Seven of Cups. This card represents your past. The Seven of Cups says that you are a daydreamer, someone who dreams big, has big ideas, but does not look at the reality of the situation very much. You have all these dreams, but none of them are real. And none of them can give you what you want. And," she paused for a moment to catch her breath, "sometimes, what you dream up is not even something that is good for you. The cards are saying here that you live too much 'in the clouds' and need to try to be a bit more grounded. In the past, you were very much a dreamer, and this sometimes carries through to your current life."

Shifting slightly in her seat, she looked up at him before continuing. "The next card is The Moon. The placement of this one is for your present. So, right now..." She paused once more and took a deep breath. "Right now you may be experiencing a bit of betrayal. Perhaps not exactly cheating on you or anything, but a betrayal of a friend perhaps who is speaking ill of you behind your back. You need to be on your guard right now and not trust everyone that you know. Sure, you may have been friends for a long time, but my suspicion is that, whenever you express interest in someone, this person swoops in and either takes the girl himself. Or, he goes and talks bad about you to the point where she will hear and perhaps lose interest in you herself. This person might even be a female friend of yours who is jealous and maybe wants you for herself, but you have no interest."

Zoya pursed her lips. She knew many people like she had just described and did not like them one bit. Sighing quietly, she looked at the next card, the one that merely confirmed all that she had just said. "Next, we have the Three of Cups." She pointed to the card without looking up to see if he was watching. "This card represents your obstacles - that which is standing in your way right now. As you can see, these are all friends, so considering what I just told you with the other card, I think this just confirms it. Some of your friends are not true friends and they are working against you. You likely have at least one female friend who is interested in you as well, but you are not giving her the time of day. Remember what they say about a woman scorned, my dear..."

She paused before continuing. "Do you have any questions yet, or shall I continue?"

As soon as Madame Zoia began to explain the cards, TL's attention turned to her voluptuous lips - yes, they were gorgeous, but he was now interested in paying attention to what they would speak. Noticing her eyes were no longer on the cards but on him, TL's gaze met hers. His expression did not hide the surprise with her conclusions and were he not so macho, he would be dropping tears. Maybe this would happen later depending on what she was going to say.

"I am impressed by your skills, Madame Zoia. Without knowing me, I must tell you are somehow right about the way I dream awaken. However, there is a slight detail you may have ignore: I fight for my dreams to come true and they actually become. Of course, I am not talking about when I dream of being the richest or most handsome guy in the world, you know those unpretentious dreams everyone has. Specially when it comes to love, I had fought for what I had. Now, she is gone, lost", his voice trembled a bit. TL was impressed with Zoia's powers and more than that, with the fact he could vent out. He turned his eyes to the other two cards before they would turn red.

"I really appreciated that. It seems that the cards are not favourable to me. One false friend, one girl who loves me and may be on the edge of revenging. I wonder what this king with ten swords mean", TL smiled nervously thinking about the worse.

"Before we move ahead, I have questions. I think I know this girl who always swoops. It has been some time since I noticed that and I began to ignore him. We have known each other since we were teens and he was actually more successful with girls, because by that time I was a bit nerdy" * smiles * "Actually a lot. But now I grew up and became more mature, but I have the impression he is always stalking my girls. Can you read this in the cards? Or is this something I am just wondering about without any reason?"

"And one more question. The Three of Cups - does it mean I...do not have any friend at all?", his slightly reddened eyes met hers as if pleading for his conclusion to be wrong.

"I understand that you fight for your dreams, and that is very noble of you. What I am referring to, however, are unattainable dreams. The ones you mention that no one ever truly realizes." Her expression softened at his obvious distress, but she was here to tell him the truth of the matter, even if it hurt. She reached forward to touch his hand lightly, slowly withdrawing it. "As for your friend, that is probably the one I see here. If you feel he is stalking those you are interested in, then I would say yes, that is him."

Smiling gently now, her eyes crinkled softly, "Yes, you have friends," she said. "You do have true friends. But, you also have false ones. And I have the feeling you already know which ones those are. This card is warning you to take heed and look to see who is truly your friend, and who is not."

Pursing her lips once more, she continued on to the next card. "Now, let's talk about The Emperor. This represents your 'near future' or what will happen soon. The Emperor is a former general, a man who has won his throne through battles. He is not afraid to go after what is his, and he will fight for what he thinks or feels is right. So, in this sense, I have the feeling that you may confront those who have been working against you. You want to re-establish some order, get things back to where they used to be. This card is all about seizing your power, and I think that's something you need to do right now."

"Finally, we have the Eight of Cups," she says, pointing to the last card in the line. "This is the 'far future' where you are heading eventually." She looks at the figure walking away and sighs. "You will find no use for the relationships you have at the moment. Disillusioned, you will wander alone for some time before seeking love again. Your friends have betrayed you. It is even possible that your love has betrayed you." Her face was sad, but she knew this was not the end. "It is a shame that you have had to experience all this, but as I like to believe, what doesn't kill us makes us stronger. You will learn not to put your head in the clouds anymore, to pay attention to what's going on around you. It is a hard lesson, but one that is necessary."

"I see you noticed the other card, the Ten of Swords. It is hidden at the bottom of the deck, and when a troubling reading comes up, I often look there for a hidden message for my client. In this case, it is telling you not to be afraid to start over. Swords are about the intellect, and you must not let your mind keep you from wiping the slate clean out of fear. Yes, you have some true friends, but you also have false ones. You need to get rid of those and not let the experience make you bitter for your future. There is always hope." At this last, she smiled and met his gaze once more, her honeyed eyes warm and inviting.

"Now, once more, I'd like to ask if you have any questions for me about your reading?"

Once more, TL listened to everything Madame Zoia was saying with attention. His fate seemed too sad and somehow he had already sensed it: his subconscious had been trying to tell him something for some months and he refused to accept. Feeling the soft touch of her hand was almost as a pain reliever and helped him to hold the tears. This time, his reddened eyes met hers - no tears though....yet.

"I am sorry for my childish behaviour, you know... but everything you said meets my worst expectations. You know I have been dreaming of something like that, something involving betrayal", he said stretching his leg under the table and touching Madame Zoia again, but this time he ignore this event". It is hard to believe my friends will be cheating on me. Of course, there is that guy who seems to be competing for the girls I am interested in. However, it saddens me to know I will have to start all over again. I have already started everything from scratch two years ago. I fear to go through the same once more", TL pauses and breaths deeply.

"You know I like the ideas that what does not kill us makes us stronger... it helps me to see light in the end of the tunnel. Nevertheless, coming back to the near future, any idea how I can find out those who will betray me? Is it at work? At the gym? At the university? Where?

Her brow furrowed slightly at his words. "It is not childish to be upset over something like this. You have people you trust in your life who are working against you. This is no small thing." She shook her head lightly, her hair sliding forward past her shoulders. "No, not childish at all."

Feeling his leg press against hers once more, she leaned into him, a gesture she hoped he would take as comforting. "It does not surprise me that you have dreamt of this. And I think you already know who it is. I would start with the friend you think has been competing with you for the women you're interested in." She sighed sadly. "I realize it is not a joyous thing to start over again, but think of it this way. It is better to start over now, when you are fueled with the knowledge that something is amiss. Than to start over later, after being hurt even more by these people."

She paused as well, looking at him softly, her tender heart felt for him. She had been betrayed by the one she loved and she knew how much it hurt. Reaching out to grasp his hand as he questioned her, her fingers squeezed his gently. "You must look to those who are closest to you. Examine what they say and what they do, and trust your instincts as to who might be betraying you. You will know, for you have a gift yourself." She smiled warmly once more. "Trust your gut, your instinct. Do not accuse anyone falsely. Look for the proof, and when you find it, cut them from your life with the precision of a surgeon." Her eyes hardened momentarily at these last words as if to impress upon him how important this last step was.

TL felt a comforting energy passing to his body as the gorgeous Madame Zoia squeezed his fingers. Although her answer was not satisfactory - he had never used his Actually, she was powerful, since he felt relaxed and calmed down quickly. He closed his eyelids once more and tried to figure out  more questions - his mind were full of them, but he had to organize his thought. Still with his eyes closed, he began to vent out more.

"I am going to be more specific about that girl who likes me. Actually, if it is who I think she is, she scorned at me in the past and now I am better in all aspects, not only taller, stronger, richer, successful professionally. Now, she does not stop trying to be my 'friend'. There is a funny story about that. In the past, we dated for some weeks and she simply dropped me for an older guy, someone who was studying medicine, richer than I was. Now, after getting divorced twice, she is always after me." * snorts with disdain * "Between her first and second marriage, I decided to take some revengeful action and...slept with her... you remember my friend who is competing with me for my girls? He had already slept with her and asked me evidence in a kind of competition - and I produced it, since I had taken her panties" * laughs nervously as he does not know Madame Zoia's reaction to this incident.

"Now the girl is back, chasing me all the time. I am not interested in her, even though...she continues incredibly gorgeous, you know those girls who spent the whole day at the gym, working out? Well, do you think I should give her a second chance? Any tip she is conspiring with this friend of mine? Anything in the cards?", TL asks squeezing even more her fingers.

Zoya could see that he was relaxing a bit, and this made her happy. She had often been told that she had a calming and relaxing presence, and she was glad this came through now, for he seemed to really need it right now. She watched as he sat and closed his eyes, she could almost see the gears turning in his mind as he organized his thoughts.

Listening to his story quietly, she was able to mask her reaction to his tale quite well. She was not a judgmental person, one could not afford to be in this line of business. But, she was all about the truth and she appreciated the fact that he shared so much with her. As he finished his tale and asked her about the woman and his friend, she felt his fingers tighten on hers and she squeezed back gently, meeting his gaze with unwavering eyes.

"After listening to your tale, I can almost guarantee you that these two are working together against you. He most likely told her of the panties you took from her, which led to her ire, which led to the conspiracy and betrayal we see here in the cards." Not looking away from him for a moment, she leaned forward in her seat, pulling him forward by his hand. "If you eliminate these two from your life, you will see a great deal of improvement in the state of your affairs. Do not take the warning the cards have given you lightly. Again, I must stress that you must cut them out, just as a doctor would cut out a tumor. Make it clean, and just walk away. You will be better off, trust me."

She held his gaze for a long time at that point, watching his face as he reacted to her words.

"I understand what you mean and to be quite honest, I have been trying to cut them for some months. However, they helped - or seemed to have helped me - two years ago when I was in the worst period of my life." TL sighs as he continues to vent out. His eyes were no longer bleary, but her presence was beginning to make him feel will to fight back, will of not being defeated by the facts, will of overcoming everything. How was that possible for a complete stranger?

Suddenly, he closed his eyes and pushed her soft hand towards his lips and kissed it gently. Shortly after, his eyes met hers and he questioned her once more.

"I just did not understand the Emperor. Confronting enemies is part of everyone's lives and I have done it so many times to get where I am. I have always tried to be honest and fair even though my enemies used the worst weapons. Soon, I will have to make an important decision about my career at the place where I work. I fear the change and fighting does not seem to be the case. I have seen so many losses at this internal front. Am I being clearer" The man looked at her eyes with a great admiration for her wisdom. "I think this letter may mean I do not have to change for another opportunity, but to stay and fight against all the odds...I mean, I have never seen someone overcome these difficulties where I work." TL smiled confident that the gorgeous tarot-reader will calm him down again.

She nodded as he spoke of trying to rid these people from his life, and her heart went out to him once more. "It is possible that two years ago, they felt drawn to help you simply because you were in a worse position. Now that you are doing better, they are envious of you and wish to bring you back to the place you were before. It is a sad truth that many people cannot feel good about themselves unless they are tearing down another person."

As he drew her hand up towards his lips, Zoya felt those electric shocks run through her body once more. Her face was flushed as his eyes met her gaze, and she was unable to turn away to hide her excitement at the feel of his lips on her flesh.

She sighed softly as he continued to speak, his concern evident in his voice and on his face. At his smile, she spoke softly in reply, "The Emperor is one of the 'Major Arcana' - a card that speaks of fate, something none of us can avoid. By showing you this, it is warning you that you have no choice as to this fight. It is up to you whether you wish to battle back, or let other people run over you. As you can see on the card, the Emperor's throne is decorated with rams' heads. You need to stand your ground, no matter what. If that means your fight will be against the odds, then so be it. You have to fight for what is right FOR YOU. Not for what others think is right. So, if this means that much to you, then that is what you must do. I have to tell you, that even if you lose this battle, you will have won. For you have stood up for what you believe in. And no one can fault you for that."

She stopped suddenly and breathed deeply, her other hand moving to cover his and her own. "Hang in there, ok? You will come out of this a better person..."

TL felt her fingers touching his other hand. He close his eyes once more and felt her lovely skin, the soft, tender skin of the gorgeous tarot reader.

"I simply cannot live up with this uncertainty as regards the battle. It is not exactly a battle, it is more a fight to overcome an obstable and become member of the organization which does not care for people, but only for money. But this is a decision hard to be made and I believe none of us can have the right answer hic et nunc. Better wait and see how things evolve in this front. This is what I have been doing in the last ten years and I succeed", he said gazing her eyes.

"And think I was more worried about love than anything else. It seems that love, once more, is something collateral in my life", TL sighs disappointed. "I truly hoped you would come out with something more optimistic", he giggled nervously and squeezed her fingers.

"What about forgiving? Not necessarily those two bastards who are plotting against me...I mean, I have been insulted some times and I hardly can see the faces of those. The point is that one of those people insists on reminding me she exists no matter how much I ignore her. She is a nice person, I think, but she did not notice she insulted me, or pretends not to know. Or maybe I am fighting windmills, just like Dom Quixote, making up a scenario of animosity which does not even exist. I know you are thinking about my dreamer side, but this was something quite concrete. Something tells me I should ignore that insult, but the fact she simply does not come and ask me to forgive me her pisses me off. Is there any instruction about this in the cards?"

Zoya held onto his hands and half-closed her eyes as well, enjoying the exchange between them.

"No, it does not have to be a literal battle, dear. It can simply be something you have to fight for which, from what you are telling me, applies to this work situation you've mentioned." Shaking her head, she inhaled deeply before speaking again. "Sometimes a person asks one question, and gets the answer to something else in their life. I have found that the cards will tell you what is most important for you to know. So, while you may have wished to know more about your love life, the cards say 'no, no, we have something else to talk about, more important that what you want to know'."

Smiling warmly yet again, she continued. "I wish I had better news for you, something more optimistic, but I have to tell you what's there. The good news is that now you know what's going on, and can deal with it before it has a bigger effect on you." Removing her hand to brush her hair back momentarily, she clasped his hand once more. "Again, I can only point to that last card and tell you that you must cut ties completely to gain true freedom from this situation. If you feel she owes you an apology, then you should tell her this, and if she refuses, then get up and walk away. There is nothing more to say in that instance. I hope that helps you somewhat..."

Zoya stroked his fingers with her thumb lightly and met his warm gaze with her own. She enjoyed being able to help people, as she felt this was her true calling in life.

TL wonder whether after this reading someone else would dare enter Madame Zoia's tent. The news were harsh, but somehow he felt comfortable and safe in that place. Only this made him brave enough to continue seating there and bring moretroubling questions. After squeezing again her fingers and feeling her relaxing energy, TL asked.

"As far as I understood, there is nothing good, but the news of a kind of redemption, rebirth. However, this will only come after death, suffering. Will this process take long, Madame Zoia? I am willing to start as soon as possible, but U-turns like that are pretty hard to accomplish. One thing is to say goodbye, I do not what to see you any longer. Other thing is not to meet these friends when I visit the other friends...but are these friends also involved in this evil plot? Anything in the cards about the extent of this conspiracy?", he opened his eyes to spot her beautiful semblance and more than that, her intriguing, but comforting eyes. Deep inside, TL wanted her to read his thoughts to help him, somehow he felt safe and sound when close to Madame Zoia - after all, she seemed to be very wise and trustworth.

Before she could start, TL added.

"Sorry for going and coming, but the battles related to the Emperor. They are not yet clear. I think they can be at work and at love. And one more question... no real perspectives for a real love, the main reason why I looked for you? Please be honest!"

Zoya did her best to relax and comfort the man, but she knew it was a lot of harsh news that he had received today. Stroking his fingers lightly with her own, she listened as he expressed his main concerns to her, which seemed to be related to timing, and whether he would ever find love.

"Well, the way I do my readings, the 'near future' is anywhere from now up to six months from now. So, the 'battle' will commence soon. The 'far future' can be anywhere from six months to a year away. So, yes, it will take time for everything to transpire and come to a conclusion. I do not see that this conspiracy has gone any further from those two people. I would have mentioned it if I felt it was a larger group of friends. Still, I understand your concern, but you do not have to worry. It does not go that far."

She looked into his eyes warmly and adjusted her leg slightly so that it stroked against his. With a wink, she continued. As for love, I know that is what you asked about, and obviously the cards had other things to tell you. I see that you really want to know, so..." She withdrew her hands from his and reached for a different deck, gave them a quick shuffle and laid down three cards.

Looking up at him once more, she said, "I normally don't do this, you know. But, seeing as how this is so important to you...Before I say anything, remember that you will have your hands full with this situation anyway..."

Inhaling deeply, she breathed out quickly through her mouth and began. "I only laid out three cards, and asked what you wanted to know. If there are any prospects out there for real love for you..."

"The first card is the Devil...it represents anger, base desires, mass consumption...Again, you will have your hands full with these people and taking care of business."

"The next is the Tower...you see how it is falling apart from the bottom, but the fey inside is nonchalantly looking out the window? This is you...Your world is crumbling around you, but you have chosen not to see it...until today, of course." She winked and smiled, hoping he was not too worried at this point.

"Lastly, you have the Ace of Wands...aces represent new beginnings, they are the seed for change. So, again, I must tell you that you will have to start over, but once you do, you will have the power to make anything that you want happen."

Her eyes met his pointedly, one eyebrow raised. "Right now, no...there are no good prospects for real love. You will find it, and her, in the future. But right now, I would say it's highly unlikely that you will find the one you seek. Fix the rest of your life first. Then, you may see out real love." She sighed softly and leaned back in her chair, somewhat spent. "I am sorry, but I can only tell you what I see."

TL was happy to see Madame Zoya would give him an extra reading and his eys brightened with happiness. There was some chance of success, some chance of changing everything. Not only was he paying attention to her hands, but also to her face, her semblance, her cheeks, her lips, her eyes. A deep lustfull thought began to build inside the man but he would behave just as Madame Zoia expected him to do. Maybe that devil would mean something directed to that exact moment.

However, the worst was coming.

As Madame Zoia explained, TL's face saddened. He needed so much a good news that her account was almost despairing. Hope existed, but a man cannot survive only from hope - he needs flesh, he needs to meet his desires, he needs someone to look after his fire. There was no one around.

Sadly, TL grabbed her hands and closed her eyes trying to get that good vibe again.

"Thank you, Madame Zoia. Maybe it is time for me to leave.", he said with a heavy voice. He was trembling, the fortune teller could feel it for sure. Still with his eyes closed, he continued. "But I thank you for helping me. If I question on these cards, I believe I will only anticipate and increase my suffering. Anything else I should know, Madame Zoia?"

Zoya saw his hope build and then come crashing down. She was saddened by this, of course, but felt she had done all that she could. There were times when all one could do was show someone that there was light at the end of the tunnel. You can show them the way, but you cannot lead them there yourself. She sighed sadly, for her heart went out to him and she wished she could comfort him more. As he took hold of her hands, closing his eyes, she smiled and did her best to send good thoughts his way. She silently asked the deities she prayed to to comfort him and protect him from undue harm. She could feel his trembling hands, and as he spoke, she nodded softly, even though his eyes were still closed.

"It was my pleasure to assist you, my dear. I hope that I have provided some clarity for you. I am sorry the cards did not have better news for you, but I think you can see that what they showed you was for the best. And remember, nothing is set in stone. You can change your life for the better." She released his hands and rose from her chair, moving to stand behind him. She leaned down and wrapped her arms around his shoulders gently, her cheek pressed lightly to his. She closed her eyes slowly and whispered in his ear. "Know that you are better than them, know that good things can and will come to you...Continue to walk the path that you are on, and good things will come to you." Kissing him lightly on the cheek, she straightened up and moved to his side, one hand still on his shoulder. "You will be alright, TheLegionary. I have faith in you." Zoya smiled once more, hoping she had helped the man at least a little.

TL paid attention once more to her last words and was surprised to see her approaching him. That seemed to be an unexpected breach of protocol. Even more surprisingly, the fortune teller came closer to him and hugged him tightly, comforting him in a way her hand had not done before. It was almost as a purifying blessing, a new rebirth. Whatever deities she prayed for, Madame Zoia was definitively a blessed person, at least that was TL's sincere impression.

"Know that you are better than them, know that good things can and will come to you...Continue to walk the path that you are on, and good things will come to you." That sentence TL would try to imprint as deep as possible in his soul. However, there was something else. Her whispering in his ears only sent goosebumps done his spine. He tried to control himself, since the lady had behaved so professionally, there was no room to any slip. He grabbed her arms and then his hands roamed in her back, wrapping around it the lower back. For a moment, their bodies were almost glued, melting one to the other. Again, one moment which seemed to last forever. He was a man, a stallion who liked girls, and Madame Zoia was such a woman!

When her lips touched his cheek, his reaction was immediate. He gasped for air and a sudden move erupted inside his trousers. their bodies were so close to each other that it was difficult to say. Hopefully Madame Zoia had not felt anything. But Madame Zoia stopped hugging him and landed her hand on his shoulder. Instinctively, TL's hand grabbed the other side of her waist and pulled her closer, making her curvaceous hips to touch hie thighs.

"Thank you for everything Madame Zoia. You did help me", he replied walking slowly towards the tent's door.

Zoya was surprised as he pulled her to him. She knew that her hug was most unprofessional, but still she had felt the need to try and comfort the man. She felt him react to her kiss, but she merely blushed and looked down at her feet. Zoya had learned many years prior not to become involved with clients.

"You are most welcome, my dear. I'm so glad to hear that I helped you...Feel free to visit me again anytime!" Her warmth and her sincerity was in her eyes and her words as she spoke. She knew he may need her assistance again, and she would be happy to provide it. She walked him to the door of her tent and reached up to give his arm a squeeze before he left her. Waving from the doorway as he took off, she watched him walk away with just a hint of sadness in her heart.

Turning the sign over the door, she went back inside and chuckled as she caught sight of the chocolates he had brought her. I guess it's time for dinner, she thought, as she grabbed the box from the table. These will be the perfect after dinner dessert...

Madame Zoya is IN

Madame wanders about her tent, removing years of layers of dust from every surface. Shaking her head and coughing lightly from the dust storm, she talks to herself out loud.

"I don't know why they kept me so long, damned soldiers," she grumbled. Accused of sorcery and witchcraft, she had been placed on trial that seemed to last for an eternity.

After sweeping all the dust out of her tent and straightening her table, she sat in her plush red chair and waited. She had always loved this location and did not want to have to move. Finally vindicated, she knew she had to open up shop right away, but worried that she had been long forgotten. Will they come?, she thought.

Idly shuffling her cards, she started laying out her own reading, curious to see who or what might appear...

He stumbled into the tent half dazed with a look confusion on his bearded face. His hands fumbled with the three piece suit, more out of habit than anything else. His eyes darted around until they finally settled on the woman in the red chair.

"Are you Madame Zoya?" He took a step forward his breath catching in his throat. "I was told you can read my fortune." He placed a hand on the back of the chair across the table. "I uh...don't have to sell my soul or anything do I?"

Madame watched as the stranger entered her tent somewhat clumsily. It happens during the day, the shock from bright day light to dusky tent causing the eyes to strain to adjust. A suit? she thought. I wonder what sort of trouble he's in.

She tried to keep her face stoic, but couldn't help one corner of her mouth lifting at his obvious distress.

"Yes, I am Madame Zoya. Welcome to my tent...I can certainly read your fortune, good sir, for a price much smaller than the cost of your soul." At this, she smiled, a twinkle in her eye as she debated toying with the gentleman. Sighing softly, she continued, "I leave it up to you how much you pay me, sir, but pay you must. Even if it is just a penny, my services must be paid for...I assume you're good for it."

She waved her hand toward the chair across from her and picked up the deck of cards before her. "Please, have a seat. Tell me, do you have a specific question you would like to ask? Or shall we leave it up to fate?" She grinned brightly at this, flashing her straight white teeth at him. "You may tell me what troubles you, but I do not need that information to give you a reading." She began to shuffle the cards, awaiting his reply.

"I'm good for it." He said as he pulled the chair out. He looked down at the cushion. It looked clean so he sat down. "I just need to know if I should stay or go." He scooted himself up to the table. His fingers ran through his dark hair.

She almost took offense as she watched him regard the chair before sitting. Had he seen this place prior to my getting here, he would no doubt have left immediately, she thought. Watching as he combed his fingers through his hair, she had to admit, she liked the looks of him. Continuing to smile as she shuffled the cards, she flicked her hair back with a flourish.

"Of course, you may stay! Why would I turn away a paying customer?"

She gave him her most gracious and benevolent look and laid down the cards. "So, my good man, what can I do for you today? A quick reading? A fortune? What say you?" She cocked one eyebrow, the candlelight illuminating her hazel eyes, all as she toyed with the cards at her fingertips.

"No, you don't seem to understand. I need to know if I should stay or go. Not here, but in general. That's really all I can say." He didn't know this woman, and frankly some of things he had heard had him unsettled. If the situation wasn't dire he wouldn't have come at all, but here he was. "Please, everything depends on the answer. Should I stay, or should I go?" He shifted in his seat. His eyes looked right into hers before darting away. No telling what would happen if he looked her in the eye for too long.

Her eyes widened as understanding took hold. "Ah! I see, forgive me...It's been a long day, already." She sighed and picked up the deck. "A reading it shall be, then. If you need clarification, we can always draw more cards."

She watched as he shifted in his seat and was tempted to offer him some tea to relax. Sensing his hurry, however, stopped her. Shuffling the deck three times, she laid it down on the table and spread the cards facedown in an arc. She pulled three cards from the deck, leaving them face down on the table. Looking up at him, she wanted to ease his worry, but there was no telling what would come up.

"Are you ready?" she asked. Her hand hovering over the first card, she looked at him closely but could not discern where his fear was coming from.

He gulped and nodded. "I guess so." He really wasn't sure if he was, but it was too late to turn back now. Stay or go, Alex or no Alex. He watched intensely as her hand hovered over the first card.

She could almost feel his fear as she got the go ahead to begin. Flicking her hair back once more, she turned her full attention to the cards before her.

She turns over the first card, revealing the Eight of Pentacles.

"I see you working very hard at your craft. You have a solid understanding of what you need to do to get the job done. And you do it. You are diligent and a very hard worker. Your boss appreciates you for the work you do. This may actually cause you to draw ire from those who work with you, however. You do so well, that you make them look like they do poorly."

His expression is immutable, so she turns over the next card, revealing the Three of Pentacles.

"Despite how well you perform your duties, I see that you wish to return to schooling for it. You have the desire to learn more, do more, and eventually be in your boss's position. But, you know that you cannot do that without the proper instruction. Taking your time at it, being the "apprentice" is not enough and will take too long in your eyes."

Moving quickly to the next card, she turns it over to reveal The Star. Her expression here looks significantly relieved.

"Ah, now this is one of my favourite cards! Here we see someone willing to cultivate the seeds they have sown. There is hope here; hope for a brighter tomorrow. You will definitely see your dreams come to fruition, so long as you keep them well tended to and fertile."

"To sum up, I would say it would best benefit you to go. But, should you go, you should seek out higher learning. Do not waste the time of those who would support you on your journey. Make good use of it. And, indeed, I would take any support you have with you. You will do better with their support."

She paused and regarded the cards once more and satisfied with her reading, she looked back up at him expectantly, looking for that "aha!" moment to cross his face. Relaxing slightly, she casually stroked at her chin, her fingers tracing the line of it slowly, yet deliberately.

He nodded and took everything she said in. "That clears a few things up." He seemed very calm. Much calmer than he had when he came in. "Thank you very much." He pulled out his wallet and placed twenty on the table. Then he stood up and turned around. He simply walked out without a word.

Madame was happy to see the man had calmed significantly from the moment he had entered her tent to now. She nodded gently as he thanked her and paid for her services. As he walked out of her tent, she called out to him, "thank you and feel free to come back if you need further assistance!"

She quickly plucked up the twenty and put it away. Pulling her long black hair back with both hands, she let it drop over her back, fanning out slowly. Well, he was an odd one. But, isn't that always the way? she thought.

She returned to idly shuffling her cards, wondering who may wander into her tent next...

Tabitha meekly entered the tent, still debating on if this was a good idea. Her whiskey-brown eyes scanned the surrounding area before they landed on Madame Zoya in front of her. The first thing she noticed was the her black hair. She would've ran her hand through her own but was reminded of the scarf she wore to conceal her hair color.

"Psst!! Sit down already!" a voice from outside the tent hissed at her. Tabitha turned and glared at the opening, her medium brown skin becoming slightly rosy.

"I ain't like you; I got manners! S-S-Shut up!" she returned the hiss. Tabitha cleared her throat and gave the Madame an apologetic look, "S-S-Sorry 'bout that. So... I, well, hi. I got this question that I'm hoping you'd be able to answer..." she stammered. Not knowing what to do with her hands, she stuck them in her front pockets, waiting on Madame Zoya's response.

Zoya watched as the girl entered the tent, making note of her timid mannerisms. It was part of her job to pay attention to the little details of every client. Her hearing was excellent, but she could not see the person outside of her tent talking with the girl. She noted the interaction between them as well and smiled her most gracious smile to her as she turned back to her.

"No, no. No apologies necessary my dear, it is perfectly fine. Madame Zoya is here to answer any and all questions you may have."

Noting how nervous the girl seemed, Zoya was determined to put her at ease before attempting to read her cards. Gesturing to the chair in front of the table, she smiled once more, "Please, sit down, child. I'm happy to have you here as it has been a little time since my last client. I was starting to get lonely."

"Relax, and tell me what you would like to know. If you would rather I just pull the cards, I can do that as well. I do not need to know your question in order to answer it. Did you need a fortune or a full reading?" Picking up her deck, Zoya started to shuffle, then put the cards down again. "Would you like some tea before we start?"

The offer of tea made Tabitha relax a little.

"Tea? Yeah. That sounds... pretty good, actually. Doc doesn't do hot tea; I think her sis does, though. O-Oh... not that she matters; this is supposed to be about me..."

She cleared her throat and nodded as Madame Zoya gestured to the seat and sat down. Tabitha took a deep breath to calm her nerves, "All this is new to me. I mean, I've seen fortune tellers in the movies. They were mostly like... Twilight Zone, y'know? You get that death card and then you... never mind. Okay. There's this... guy... if you wanna call him that. I mean, he ain't human. A-And... we've been dating for a while. I wanna know; should I tell our friends about us... or should I just wait and let him do it...? I guess that counts as a fortune? Yeah... a fortune is fine."

As soon as the girl agreed to tea, Zoya rose to put the kettle on the fire at the back of the tent. She pinned up the tapestry hiding a small kitchenette behind it and got two cups out, readying the tea while both listening to the girl and waiting for the water to boil. She liked to serve her guests jasmine tea which came in balls that would unfurl as the hot water was poured over them, seemingly infusing them with life. After a side question to her guest as to whether she wanted sugar or not, she brought the cups over. They were smooth cream coloured china, with english roses in the pattern.

"Drink up, my dear, just be careful as it is hot."

Zoya blew on her tea and took a sip, slowly placing the pretty little cup on the edge of the table nearest her.

"So, as I understand, you wish to know if you should reveal your relationship, or keep it clandestine until your beau feels the need to reveal it himself." Nodding to herself, she looked up into the girl's eyes. She could see the girl was nervous. Noting her commentary on things such as the Death card (one most often maligned in movies and such) or the fact that her boyfriend was not human. Interesting case, she thought. A fortune...let's see what comes up.

Zoya took another sip of her tea, gesturing to the girl with a tilt of her chin to drink up. "I'm very glad you came to me today. I truly believe I can help you..." Zoya's voice trailed off as she realized the girl had never introduced herself. "I'm sorry, my dear, but what did you say your name was?" Zoya waited, interested to see what else this girl might reveal before she read her fortune.

Tabitha watched as Madame Zoya prepared the tea. She remembered that she didn't mention what type of tea she preferred but it really didn't matter; she was never the one to turn down a gracious offer.

She nodded slightly as Madame warned her of the temperature, being grateful for the warmth to her fingers. She followed Madame Zoya's lead, carefully blowing before taking a sip. Mmm... jasmine, her thoughts echoed in her head.

Tabitha listened to her words and gave her another nod of approval, "Y-Yeah. I'm just... I ain't got no problem tellin' the world, y'know? But... he keeps tellin' me that it ain't the right time. He says he ain't ashamed of me. But... I dunno..." she sighed as she explained a bit more. As Zoya gestured for her to take another sip, she did so, savoring the favor, "Oh... this is good; thank you..." she was starting to feel more at ease. Her cheeks ached a little at the mention of an introduction; she had been so nervous, she had forgotten to tell the woman her name!

"Oh! It's... Tabitha. Some people just call me Tabby. Doc likes to call me Tabs but I guess that's cuz I call her doc... ah... yeah, I'm Tabitha..." she trailed off; she had an awful habit of rambling whenever she became nervous.

Zoya nodded towards the girl once more. "Tabitha. I like Tabby, so if it's ok, may I call you that instead?" Reaching for her cards, feeling the girl had relaxed sufficiently, she began to shuffle the deck. "So, let's see what we get now, shall we?"

Slowly, and methodically, Zoya shuffled. She had chosen her Fey Tarot, as they seemed more appropriate for this client. The oversized cards, which often gave other people trouble, seemed at home in her hands as she split the deck over and over, shuffled them together, and bridged them into one deck. Finally, feeling as though the deck was shuffled enough, she spread the cards across the table in an arc.

Choosing the first card, she set it aside, but another card tried to come with it, poking out of the deck. She also chose this card and one other. Three cards for a fortune...She turned over all three at once to reveal:

"With the Eight of Wands there is great impatience. You want things to move, you want to bring about change. But, it is at your own peril. Do you see the look on her face, as though she is being chased? You do not want this feeling to prevail over your life."

"Next, we have The Hanged Man. He is not hung by the neck, nor is he about to die. You will see this fellow is merely holding his breath underneath the water. This is telling you that you must be patient, but that you also must look out for yourself and your own interests at this time. What happens if he holds his breath for too long? He surely will die then. So, be cautious, be careful, and think before you act."

"Finally, we have the Five of Swords. You will note this fey seems particularly loney. She is alone, atop a sword, blowing fairy dust into the wind. Her own energy seems to be leaving her through the top of her head. This is saying, be careful of your thoughts and be careful what you wish for...for what you want the most may not be what is best for you. You may end up alone, with no one to turn to, and no one wants that."

Looking up into the girl's face, Zoya managed her best sympathetic smile. "It would seem the cards are cautioning you to wait and leave it up to your boyfriend, my dear."

She nodded and gave Zoya a light smile; she didn't mind being called Tabby at all.

Her eyes became affixed on the larger cards Madame Zoya selected; she had a feeling that they may have been for a special cause. She had to admit to herself that her case was indeed... special.

Her expertise on fortune telling was all due to what she had seen in the movies; she knew that she would only get one card for a fortune. However, after Madame Zoya selected her first card, Tabitha noticed that a second tried to follow. She kept her gasp to herself as Zoya not only selected that card but another. When she turned all three over, she saw that they were different indeed. She marveled at the illustrations but took note of the titles: Wands, The Hanged Man and Swords.

Tabitha lightly chuckled at her own thoughts; at first glance, it seemed fitting that she would get something of the likes of wands and swords! The character on the Wands, although clearly female, was a slight reminder of her love. The Hanged Man looked as though he was drowning; that was one of her fears seeing as though she didn't know how to swim. She didn't know what to make of the third: a fire faerie? She studied it more; no, a sand faerie. If it was a fire faerie, it made sense, she reasoned: all three would be symbolic to the things in her life at the moment.

Her eyes widened as Madame Zoya began her fortune, explaining the cards' meanings. Impatient; she was definitely that! She didn't like the idea of being chased; and the faerie did indeed look terrified...
The Hanged Man made her sit back and wonder. Lately, she hadn't thought before she made her decisions; she knew that she definitely had to work on that!
The third one made her eyes mist over. The one thing she didn't want to happen: to be alone...

"...... I understand. Patience. Yeah... I'll leave it up to him. He's... level-headed. So, whenever he's ready to... right. I... thank you. Those are... beautiful cards, by the way." she almost mumbled. So, there it was; she would have to patient, keep her mouth shut or she would end up alone. Tabitha sighed; it wasn't what she had expected to hear but she was glad to have some light shed on the situation, "Oh; payment! You... you gave me a full reading. And tea. Here." she went into her pocket and pulled out three bills: two twenties and a ten.

"Psst! Sorry but they're calling you. Something big; you gotta go!" her friend's voice right outside the tent interrupted her thoughts. Tabitha let out a sigh and gave Madame Zoya an apologetic look as she got up.

"Thank you so much, Madame Zoya. I... gotta go. Heh; duty calls!" she had wished she could stay however she knew that once the message was sent, time was of the essence. She pushed the chair towards the table and walked out, not before giving her a slight farewell wave.

Zoya noted the girl's reactions as she read the cards and felt she understood the meanings well without needing further explanation.

Gathering up the bills, she smiled at the girl and said, "Thank you, Tabby. Please feel free to visit again. You are welcome to stop by anytime, even if only for a cup of tea."

Waving to the girl as she left, Zoya put up the cards and finished her cup of tea. Never could tell what sort of customer you were going to get...

There is a short squinty-eyed man standing by the entrance, who tries his best to look idle and bored - and yet fails miserably; the kind of man you'd hardly want to look twice at. "Up to no good" is the general impression he'll give to a passer-by. As the last customer leaves the fortune teller's tent, this man adjusts his cloak, takes the last wary look around and dives inside without a sound.

"Oi. Knock-knock! The forchun tella? Ma'a.. I mean, Madame?" The man's eyes greedily dart around the room. "Name's, uh, Bob. I'm a big fan of this, this abracadabra thing. Nice candelabras."

The man apparently called Bob walks towards the chair and stops near it, unsure.
"Nice weather we're having. So, yeah. I got this, this 'interprise' thing going on right now, and, well... could really use some fortune, right? Draw me some fancy ones, will ya? I mean, please?"

Bob sits down in one smooth move and casually puts his hands on the table. Right near the candelabra. "Cheers."

Zoya watched as the small man entered her tent. The general impression he left her with was "shifty" upon first glance. The nature of her job required that she be able to size up each client quickly and she wasn't sure this one was as harmless as he tried to portray himself to be.

Madame remains quiet as he speaks, relying on an old rule taught her by her grandmother. "Only fools run their mouths, so if you speak, make sure it's with purpose." However, she caught the comment on her candelabras and made note. Thankfully, her tent had long been protected from thievery and burglary due to a spell from a very well known sorceress. She had no reason to worry.

Smiling a cooler smile than usual at him, she waited for him to stop speaking before saying anything herself.

"Hi Bob, very nice to meet you. Yes, the weather has been lovely this time of year. I can certainly read your fortune, that's no trouble at all."

Zoya starts to toy with another one of her decks, just moving the cards around slowly with her fingertips, not actually shuffling them. Keeping her eyes on him from beneath her lashes.

"But, I'm rather curious, if you don't mind. So, you say you're a big fan of this "abracadabra thing" as you put it. How did that come to be?"

The short man, more interested in gawking at the curiosities around than looking at Madam Zoya's cards, was clearly not expecting such questions. Startled, he blinked slowly, opened his mouth, closed it and opened again.

"Ma'a...dam, see, I'm just yer ordinary little man, trying to make ends meet. All this magic thingamajig," Bob waves his right hand in the air, casually moving the left one over the table - ever so slowly, as if consumed in thought. "it's all bit way o'er my tiny head, eh? But there's this bloke, right, a really talented kid from my ban... I mean, yeah, band, like musical one, right?" - ever so slowly, the hand moves closer to what seems to be a tiny pouch on the table. "The brewer. And he sells those mean elixirs and wands and all that, too. Gets all the wee ladies, this guy does, right?"

Bob sighs. After a short pause, he continues. "And I says, I says, "hey lad, now why don't you share some of yer shinies with poor ol' Bob?", yeah? And he says, he says, "Bob, you old cutter, shoulda go straight to Madam Zoya, she got all the fortune ye need," and I says, "why, lad, 'tis a good thing I am a fan of this abracadabra thing, right?"

The man casually looks up and realises the fortune teller is not distracted by his gestures nor by words. He shudders and removes the hand from the table, scratching his head instead.

"Yeah, hheheh. A good lad, he is. So, uh, what do those lil' buggers say, then, Madam?"

Ever watchful, Zoya noted how the man's hands wandered. If she had any concern with thievery, it may have come up then. But, as it was, she was becoming more and more amused by this strange little man.

"Very well, Bob. Thank you for answering my question. Let's get to that reading, shall we?"

Picking up the deck of cards, she began to quickly shuffle them, all while keeping an eye on the man before her. While she had no concern with regard to thievery, she didn't want him to attempt it, either. The consequences for him would be most dire, indeed.

She spread the deck across the table before them, carefully examining them before selecting three cards and placing them to the side. She collected the remaining cards and put them in a pile to her right and turned over the three cards, putting them between her and Bob.

Nodding slightly, Zoya almost had a little chuckle to herself before telling Bob his fortune.

"Well, Bob, this is quite interesting. The first card is the Ace of Swords. Aces are all about a beginning; it is the seed from which new growth emerges. Swords are all about thoughts and the intellect. So, I would say that you have, or will soon, hatch a new plan, or idea, or plot, to get ahead. This will be a plan that truly catapults you to the heights where you want to be. Just be careful, as you never know where you will land once back on solid ground."

"Next, we have the King of Swords. Again, Swords are thoughts and the intellect. This tells me that you are an old soul. Once who has experienced many battles, more than most for your age, at least. You are skilled at things to do with the mind. But, you may not always use your best judgment to your advantage. This is telling you that you must take your time to ensure a victory."

"Finally, we have the Eight of Wands. Wands are all about taking action. But, the eight indicates great haste. It indicates a need to move fast, whether or not that is to your advantage. Your actions are already on the wind, but do they mesh well with the plans you are making? Or have made? Be careful that your haste does not put all that planning to waste, as the saying goes."

Zoya looked into the man's eyes. At least he was finally quiet, for once.

"So, from what I see here, it would seem you will be able to hatch your ideas, but that you should weigh your actions against past experience to guarantee success. Also, that you should be careful not to act too soon. Does that ring true for you?" She placed her elbows on her table, tenting her fingers above the cards there, watchful of his reaction.

Does that ring true for you?

It seemed as if the power of the fortune teller's voice hit some string in Bob's tiny black heart. Or at least that's how the young man felt in that moment. He stood still, a fancy candelabra clasped tightly in his hands, staring at the King of Swords with the unexplainable feeling of kinship. Not that Bob was a big fan of royalty, in the moment it just seemed... appropriate.

"I... uhm..." the young man awkwardly releases the piece of home décor he took strange liking to. "I-I be damned, madam... 'Tis be some mighty spell in those pictures o'yers. Thought I saw me old man fer awhile."

Bob carefully glances at Madame Zoya, not quite daring to meet her eyes, grimacing as he tries to find the right words. Soon he continues: "Madam, my name's no Bob, an' I chanced upon this place with no good in me mind. But yer words made me think, aye they did, an' I swear!.." "No Bob" raises his finger dramatically, "I'll take not a copper from ye house, an' who tries tae, Madam, 'e's a goner!"

The young man jumps from his chair and swings the air with imaginary swords, making loud "woosh"ing sounds and describing with passion how much of a "goner" he'd make the would-be thief. The spectacle goes for a while, until the noises from outside remind him where he is. "Bob" freezes in place.

"Ahem. But I must've taken much o'yer time, madam, an' the folks are waiting..." the man reaches in his coat and drops all the riches on the table: a copper pendant, a cheap glass earring, some old pocket watch, a couple copper coins and even one shiny silver. " 'Ere, madam, not much, but as bards say, "right from me heart"! An' if ye ever in trouble, just ask for Phix on the bazaar down th' road, an' I'll be there!"

With these words the young man takes a peek outside the tent and makes a wild gesture. Two very confused cloaked men across the street immediately leave in hurry.

Zoya knew that, in the end, she would have no trouble from this fellow. Usually, once someone had received a reading, they had some sort of change of heart if there previously had been ill will there. She had noted when he picked up the candelabra, but hadn't said a word about it. She knew it'd never leave her tent, either way.

As the young man made his confession, she had a hard time not giggling, and had to conceal her smile behind her hand as he got up and went slashing at the air in the tent.

"Well, feel free to pop back any time, sir. And thank you for your payment. I appreciate it greatly. I will keep your offer in mind, as well. Thank you."

She watched as he made his exit and pondered whether or not to take a break. It had been a long day, after all. "One more reading," she said softly to herself. "Just one."

Yugi had attended fairs like this one ever since he was a little kid. He attend them cause he enjoyed what the fairs had to offer in terms of food, shows and attractions. This was no different than any of the other fairs he had been to.

He saw a mysterious tent with a sign that said Madame Zoya and walked towards it not knowing what would be store for him. As a kid he'd always enjoyed getting his fortune told ot because he believed in them but because it was a way to kill time but he couln't help but wonder at all the coincidences the happened in his life. As he grew older he learned that the cards were indeed guiding his actions and that fortunes were nothing to be laughed at.  Upon reaching the tent he peered inside wondering if Madame Zoya would be up for a reading. Seeing a woman sitting in front of a crystal ball" he asked "is now a good time or should I come back later?"

Zoya had just made herself a fresh cup of tea when the young fellow poked his head into her tent and asked if it was a good time for a reading. "Yes, of course," she called out, waving him in with one hand. "Please come in and sit down, I'm just having a cup of tea."

She liked to keep a fastidious place, and after all the waving about her last client had done, she felt he had kicked up way too much dust. So, she had spent a good 30 minutes afterward just dusting everything in the tent, making it nice and clean again. She had had to rearrange a few things the fellow had picked up, but now everything seemed in order.

"Would you like a cup of tea? Or would you rather get right to your reading?" she asked of the young fellow. To be honest, he looked a bit lost to her.

He smiled as she waved him in. Looks like this might be the most interesting thing he would experience here today. He walked in and took a seat. "A cup of tea sounds nice."

Taking a look around he could see how clean this place was. Not like you can get this place dirty with the few things inside this tent. Even if it did get dirty it would be easy to clean.

"Well since you are offering a couple of tea would be nice" he said with a smile to her.

Since she had just made a quick cup for herself, it was no trouble to make another cup for the man. Pouring the still boiling hot water over the jasmine tea ball, she waited as it unfurled and then handed him the cup. "Here you are! I hope you like jasmine tea, it's all I keep on hand, really. If you'd like some sugar, I have some cubes in that little pot over there." She pointed to a small porcelain sugar bowl that perfectly matched the cups she had on hand.

"Now, sir, please tell me what I can do for you. I can only assume you have come here to have your fortune read." She smiled warmly at him and took a sip from her cup. "Do you have a question you would like to ask, or would you rather we just see what comes up?" At this, she raised one eyebrow in curiosity, wondering what he may choose.

He watched as she poured the boiling water carefully into a cup with the jasmine tea ball. Seeing the steam rising from the cup meant that the water was just boiled. He took the cup as it was handed to her and set it done gently on the table being careful not to spill any or burn his hand. "I like all kinds really and thank you for your generous offer. I think it's best to enjoy things the way they are but maybe next time I'll try it with sugar should I happen by your tent again."

"Being a fortune telling you should know that I have come for a reading." He smiled back at her and took a small sip of the tea before answering her question."Well I just want to see what the cards have in store for me. I may have questions during the readings as the cards are drawn."

"Well, of course, I know you came for a reading, I was more curious as to whether you wanted to ask something or see what would come up," Zoya remarked coolly. "So, since that is your aim, let's see what you get! And please hold your questions until I am done."

Shuffling her cards quickly, she seemed intent on the practice, her hands deftly separating the deck, blending them, and tenting them back together. Zoya cut the deck this time and drew 5 cards in rapid succession.

"You have two of what we call "Major Arcana" here. I generally interpret these as the fates having more of a say in your life than yourself."

"First, there is the Hierophant, sometimes called the Pope. This is saying that in the past, you may have had a tendency of being too stubborn, too fearful of change, especially in matters of theology, ethics or traditions. It is important not to fear change, as it is only with change that progress is made."

"Next, we have the Two of Pentacles. Twos are all about choices. In this case, you are juggling two things that are apparently quite opposite from each other. It is up to you to decide whether you wish to continue "juggling" the two, or whether you would really just prefer to focus on one versus the other."

"The next Major Arcana card is the Hanged Man. As you will see, he is not hanging by the neck, but rather from one foot. Therefore, he is not in dire straits, but rather, stuck in contemplation. In fact, this card tells us that there is to be a pause. A time where you will contemplate your next moves before acting on them. In fact, the contemplation process may even take longer than you expected, but movement will only take place when you are ready. And only the Universe knows when you are ready."

"Then, we have the Knight of Swords. This card is all about action! But, swords are about the intellect and mental action. Finally, you have spent enough time in contemplation and you are ready to go, Go, GO!!" Zoya laughs at this softly. "Often Knights indicate change. This may be telling you that it's time to change your thinking. That it's time to make your choice, finally, and move on it!"

"Finally, we have the Ace of Pentacles. Aces are the seeds from which all other things grow. Pentacles are about both money and family. So, this is telling me that you will have the opportunity to grow something new to you. It could be a business venture. Or, if you are settled with someone, it could even indicate a new addition to your family. In either case, you will be ready and willing to take this seed up and make it grow for you. More so, you will be happy for it. It is something you want very much, and the promise is there, so long as you tend to your seed and give it all it requires to grow."

Zoya sits back calmly, looking over her guest. "That is your reading. Do you have any further questions of me?"

"I wouldn't dare interrupt during the reading" he said with a smile.

His eyes moved to the cards as Madame Zoya shuffled them quickly then cut the deck and dealt out five cards in succession. Seems like she had had lots of practice doing this.

As she started to explain each of the cards the rest of the room grew quiet with only the sound of her voice able to be heard.

Fearful of change? he heard her say. It was true that he liked to keep things the way they were. Why change something that doesn't need to be changed?

What could she be referring too, he thought to himself as she said he was juggling to things that were opposites.  He had no clue what she was referring to and would ask about that later.

The Hanged Man hanging like that was something he never saw before. Usually it was hanging from the neck so this was something different. A sigh of relief escaped from his lips as she said that he wasn't in dire straights. Contemplation sounds like something he had been doing a lot lately. Has been stressing out a lot about it. Whether or not this was something she was referring to or something else he did not know.

The Knight of Swords following The Hanged Man was something he didn't expect. Hearing her explanation he thought about it for a while and settled on something that made the most sense to him. He waited for the last card before forming the conclusions as so far the cards seem to connect with one another.

He listened to the last explanation of the cards. He had no experience with starting a business so it must have been the family thing she was talking about although he didn't really have anyone in his life yet. He started to realize something as she continued with the explanation. His eyes began to focus on hers as she finished with the explanation. As he thought about the other cards and everything that has happened so far in his life and came to only one conclusion but he had to ask to make sure.

"In fact I do. The cards you drew for me seems to be connected in some way. This change you speak of? Could you possibly know what that might refer to and is that in any ways related to the contemplation I may have for a long time. You mentioned something about a business venture or new addition to the family. II highly doubt it would be anything related to a business venture but as you can probably tell I'm currently not settle with anyone. To tell you the truth my shyness prevents me from settling down with anyone. Perhaps I should do something about that right away?"

Zoya smirked at the multiple questions and inhaled lightly readying herself to reply.

"Well, of course they are interconnected, this is your story, the path that you are on presently. One important thing I must remind you of, however, is that no one's path is set in stone. Even knowing of what may happen could alter that outcome."

She sat back a little, touching the tips of her fingers together like a steeple before her, she smiled as she continued. "Remember that we are dealing with situations that are outside your control, the Hierophant and the Hanged Man. The Pentacles can relate to either family or business. Or even both. Do you feel that you are often having to choose between work and your family life? This does not have to be a romantic family thing. But, merely family, where you may have more responsibilities, et cetera."

Leaning forward once more, Zoya's brow furrowed slightly. "I would not rush into anything. I think what will happen is that, when you have spent enough time in contemplation, that things will suddenly fall into place and you will be able to make whatever moves you've been think of all this time. Whatever the situation is with family or work/career will also resolve itself as a choice will be necessary, hence the "seed" I spoke of earlier."

"You will finally be able to choose between family and work, and move on from there, starting something new for yourself instead of doing whatever everyone else wants you to do."

Zoya smiled at the young fellow once more and inclined her head towards the cards, "Does that help at all, or did you have more questions?"

Take another sip of his tea he listened intently to what she had to say.

He nodded as she said that no curse is set in stone. He knew that all too well. One little thing could change everything.

As she talked about business and family  he thought about what she said. Sometimes I feel like that but I wouldn't say it's often though.

If not for what she said next rushing is something he would have definitely have done. He breathed a sigh of relief when he heard that things would fall into place with time. "It makes me happy to hear that."

Hearing this has certainly made me feel better."

He smiled back at Zoya. "Oh yes that helps a lot. Thank you."

Zoya sat back once more and stretched slightly, stifling a yawn. It had been a very long day, but she did not want to be rude to her client.

Gathering their empty cups, she put them on a back table in the tent and quickly returned to her seat at the table.

"So, was there anything else I can do for you, sir?" Madame looked at him expectantly. "I'm glad you feel better about your situation & hope I was helpful in some way."

Zoya smiled her most charming smile, hoping the client picked up on the hint that she did expect payment for services rendered.

Seeing the stretching and yawning meant it must be time for him to leave. She must have other things to tend to and he didn't want to keep her for any longer now that the reading was over.

As she gathered the empty cups he cleaned up any mess he may have made and sat back down looking at her for a moment.

"Well you've done more than enough for me today and I thank you for that. I wouldn't want to keep you here too much longer as you should probably get some rest."

Seeing her smiling was something he couldn't resist and got up and did something quite unexpected. As he got up he walked towards Madame Zoya reaching in his pockets he scrounged up a few rare coins. "This is all I have as payment for your services at the moment but the next time I shall have something more for you as you deserve much more than I am giving you right now" he said as he leaned in and hugged her thanking her for the excellent reading. With that he walked out of the tent waving goodbye and smiling at her as he told her that he would return sometime.

Madame Zoya was more than happy to give the fellow a hug, thanking him for his payment. "I appreciate the payment. It's not about the amount, it's about what it means to you. So long as you got something out of the reading, then I am more than pleased."

She waved goodbye to him, and closed the tent flap, hanging up the sign that she was out.
