One of the most iconic movies for adult-based science fiction and fantasy was Heavy Metal, which was itself based on the adult illustrated magazine. It consisted of several short stories that ranged from horror to post apocalyptic fantasy and everything in between. Each story was linked to the others through an overarching plot, which revolved around the source of all evil: The Locknar, a glowing green globe.
This is checking to see if there's any interest in getting a group together to do rps of any and all kinds, linked together by the appearance of the Locknar and how it's dealt with. All setting and genres and pairings work for this, since heavy Metal Magazine runs the whole gamut of ideas.
In general each thread would be it's own self-contained story, with a definite end-point; however, characters could freely jump to new stories, across genres and the like. Perhaps the old-west gunslinger falls through a rift in time and space and finds himself in the middle of a futuristic war after dealing with the Locknar, only to find that it has once again entered his life. Or maybe the Amazonian warrioress wakes up to find herself trapped on an alien planet at the Locknar's bidding.
There are countless possibilities.
Players would need a pic of their characters (or some good description), and maybe even some theme music for them. A short background, including name, gender, sexuality, genre, as well as personality and history would also be helpful.
Example of Character:

Name: Claudius Rhavion
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Straight
Genre: Science-Fantasy
Personality: Enigmatic and quiet, Claudius is a man who laughs little. His thoughts are usually kept hidden, and he tends to digress when he speaks, his mind always working on three or more topics. He can be personable if he tries.
History: Born as a serf under the rule of the Technocratic Dominance, Claudius grew up in an almost feudal society where the ruling class possess technology comparable to our own current level, but the lower classes are not allowed to even handle it. Glittering research labs can be found next to field still plowed with horses; warriors in armour are led by officers with machine-guns; techno-shamans use modern medicines and a good deal of showmanship to treat ills.
Claudius is tired of the way his people are treated and has joined a rebellion against the Dominance, seeking to make their wondrous technologies available to everyone.
