Just a Dream

Was is the thought of safety that entered my heart, from so long ago that drew me close?  Or the promise that you would never leave my side?  Was it the way your eyes pulled me near with their surety that I would never be alone, no matter what happened? 

That I grew to love the tightened hand on my arm, guiding my every move, was strange to me at first, but only when it was gone did I realize how much I needed the guidance and reassuring touch.  What was I without you, but a girl who had lost her way?

My heart breaks every time, but like the girl that I was, I still cling to you, wishing for something as simple as a smile, a touch, a kiss.
