Second Life
« on: July 01, 2006, 09:28:55 PM »
Ok, so I've signed on, and spent a few days on Help Island, getting used to the controls, and talking to a few mentors... I'm ready to wade in the big bad world. But what ever shall I do? I'm thinking of doing some freelance scripting, but my skill are a little rusty. Maybe stand up comedy?

For reference, the in game name is Xerial Towradgi. Feel free to toss me an IM.

Well, i am Ulrika Berger and i will gladly find time to assist you.
I can share some 'freebee' items i picked up along the way so you won't need to waste time picking them up. I can show you places of all kinds, i guess. I can explain stuff.
As far as doing some work, i have no experience with this. Scripting probably can't be harder than any other programming type stuff. And probably not easier...

Help would be appreciated...  ;D I've got a handle on the interface, and I've actually managed to find a semi-decent form of work (camping as Casino security), so there's a wee bit of money coming in. That's the big one, though, revenue. I've got to fine some form of macro tool, to rotate my view or something every once and a while, so I can have my guy camp during working hours, and earn without the auto-logoff kicking in...

I've got another side project on the go, though. One for a RL application that I might be able to spin into SL. Tattoo art, though I imagine the competition's tight.

After seeing probably the most beautiful avatar I've ever witnessed in Second Life... I'm kinda bummed out about the ones I have. x.x;

So I signed up for Second Life, under the name Nothing Xiao, and I'm completely and utterly lost....

I also signed up, and while I'm not exactly lost, the game keeps crashing for me every couple of minutes for some strange reason. It looks quite interesting though, and hopefully I can actually explore a little bit.

Nothing: The initial tutorial boards should help with basic controls, my advice beyond that would be to hang out on Help Island for a while, and to talk to a few Mentors. Not only will they help with any questions you have about the game, and provide landmarks to helpful places off the island, but they'll often give you free goodies as well.  ;D

Arander: What kind of system are you running? I know mine's got the specs, but the game causes my laptop to heat up and crash something fierce... well it did until I cooked up a combo DVD case/floor fan cooling system...

Yea mine was a simple problem: I just hadn't updated my video drivers. Once I did that I was good to go.

On the lighter side, I am now the newest reporter for the Metaverse Messenger found at http://metaversemessenger.com/

Look for insightful reports under the name of Jacob Neely coming soon to the paper (I am a little freaked though as I have no journalism experience whatsoever. We'll see how things work out)

I'm working angles to become a strip club bartender... *l* Of course I'm also beefing up my library of music, and thinking of a foray into the world of DJing... there seems to be a distinctive lack of Techno/Trance music goin' on in the game...

Once you get a gig let me know. I'm all about that type of music and mixed with a strip club, well you can't go wrong there.

You haven't been to the goth clubs yet I take. But, odd as it is. You'll find a STRONG surge of BDSM and Goth in SL more then anything else.

It'd be nice to get some Neu-Goth [You know, Industrial, synth cyber goths] in the mix. I'm getting sick of all the black, vampires and crap. I love the color black and vampires! But enough is enough.

As well, I've seen that techno seems to be more prevailant amongst the furs. Only problem with them is there are quite a few speciests and drama is like an STD to them. x.x

Heh, I haven't been much of anywhere yet. Later tonight I'll have to put around and check out the music scene, see what all that is like.

Hah, specists, now there's something so modern it's bleeding edge...  ;D I'm still defining my look beyond "bald dude with shades" at this point... of course being down to L$9 doesn't help so much...

Heh, so far my whole looks has come from freebies I can find. Haven't gotten around to getting any money and it might be a week or so until my job starts paying.
