Romantic Rendezvous (Aequitas&Kirsas)
« on: January 19, 2010, 07:20:39 PM »
Damien was the younger of two princes, which is why it was him who was forced into marriage with the princess of another country; he wasn't the one able to inherit the kingdom. He was raised to do everything he was able to for his kingdom of Atlantia, and grew up to be a proper and responsible adult and here he was; his princely garments clean and well set on him with his dark hair neatly done as not to cover his blue eyes. He stood at the entrance to the castle with minimal bodyguards, standing and staring nonchalantly at the road waiting to meet the princess for the first time and give her a tour of the castle.

The young girl's raven tresses were thrown neatly across her shoulder, hanging just above her waist, since she utterly despised having it done in a chignon or otherwise. Her dress was fashionable for a princess of her time, a light creamy coloring with pearl jewels, the sleeves just above her wrists. Her brown eyes were that of a golden shade, and they moved every now and then, almost to the light twists and turns of the fancy carriage, drawn by two large coal black equines, which almost seemed to match her exact hair coloring. Her skin was soft and pale, no matter how much time she spent drawing in the opulent sunlight. Staring through the square window, Bethany waited ever so patiently to meet this young prince she was supposedly betrothed to.

As the carriage came rolling down the dirt road into view, his stature made no change at all, quietly watching and waiting for it to approach. When it finally got to the front of the castle, Damien stopped the carriage driver, informing him of where to park it and a place they can stay; only the had the benefit of actually entering the castle. He pulled a couple golden coins out of his pocket, handing it to the driver and then went to the carriage door, opening it and offering his hand to the girl sitting there.

Bethany's gaze traveled across the scenery and towards the large castle, a slight intake of breath filling her. No, this wasn't the first time she had seen a castle, of course. This particular castle seemed....different in a way. Taking her gaze off of it slowly towards the hand outstretched towards her, she took it gently, placing her own feminine hand into his, and stepping out slowly. Yes, this must be the prince. Now that she had finally set her sight upon him, she didn't seem to mind being here. If this was what her parents had wanted of her, she would do it ever so willingly.

After taking her hand and helping her down the steps of the carriage, he brought her hand up to his lips, kissing it lightly however robotically. "Mi 'lady Bethany, I presume." He said simply, giving a slight bow with his upper body. His eyes looked over her; her reputation had even reached his kingdom, known as a beautiful princess, but as he stared at her his image remained unfazed. "I am to bring you around the castle, as were the wishes of both our fathers..."

A small nod informed the prince that she had acknowledged this, although she was secretly looking forward to this castle tour. "Yes, Damien. That is their wish." Turning her gaze hesitantly, she briefly watched the large gates that was soon to open and lead her into the castle courtyard. Turning slightly, a gentle smile placed upon her rose lips, she observed how the prince had been acting....could it be he wasn't looking forward to this certain betrothing as much as she seemed to be?

Damien simply continued walking, holding her hand next to her and showing off the many rooms of the castle. His eyes always watch ahead of them; it would seem as if he was ignoring her if it wasn't for him explaining where they were and some history of the area, every now and then. "This is the main ballroom, where we hold our most of our special events. It has been used for two decades, ever since the inauguration of the current King Jesse."

Bethany nodded, enjoying the many sights of the castle, imagining a large dance within the room, although for now it was more than the eerie silence she would have enjoyed. Taking a hand, she gently brushed her raven filaments back behind her shoulder, taking a few paces towards a nearby window to take time to pause and look down upon the dirt road on which she had stood previously. "I love it here." She whispered silently, inhaling the sweet oxygen deeply, which contained many scents other than that which she had been used to back at her own castle. Yes, it was quite nice to be somewhere else for a change.

Damien followed closely behind her as she went to the window. He didn't understand why she was making so much of a fuss over everything. "When the marriage goes through, you will be able to stay here until the death of your king. At that point, we are both to return to your kingdom and I am to be king with you, the eldest daughter and rightful queen, if we are accepted." He said nearly monotonically. He wasn't sure if she was informed of the situation, but it was what was told to him by the kings and he speculated it would be best for her to know.

Bethany turned her features to watch Damien as he spoke, yet again, the same as always....it was almost as if a robot had inhabited him, and she was mostly disliking it. Of course, no one could force him into anything, but she had decided to try and change his personality....if not now, much later. "Damien...besides the marriage, is there anything you've wished for?" she asked gently, turning to lean out the window once more, although she continued to silently and patiently await his answer. Sure, he might think she was crazy for asking him that, but it was about time he opened up....at least sooner or later, if they were to become a married couple.

Damien just stood there, a slightly curious look on his face, blinking a few times. "Anything I've wished for? Like for the kingdom?" He asked. "Well. The strength of the kingdom and the comfort of the people is always the goal I'm told to have in mind." He explained. His eyes glanced over her for a moment before following hers out the window. He was taught not to disrespect a person by staring too much.
