Still a bit miffed they replaced Rhodey. I like Don Cheadle but he's no James Rhodes.

Is that supposed to be Omega red in it? Even if its not I say awesome, because the first Iron man was actually good and it feels like it has the same chemistry that the last one had

Whiplash/Blacklash (with certain elements of Crimson Dynamo).

One of the advantages Iron man has is that while he has a fairly extensive classic rogue's gallery most were never that iconicly developed so you can merge aspects of them in the way say Spiderman never could. As long as if/when the Mandarin shows up he's got his rings (and they recently did a cool and inventive take on this in the comics) I'll be happy.

Mathim

They're not going to do the Mandarin because they said he would take too much to develop. The closest we got was the terrorist group 'The Ten Rings' that kidnapped Stark in the first place.

As for Whiplash, I was kind of disappointed when I saw him, since his suit didn't have any real protective covering, or so it seemed. He didn't even have a mask, I imagine a sniper could have picked him off easily and I can't imagine Iron Man not having an armed escort when not in armor. Whiplash probably has some electromagnetic thing to catch bullets, I'm guessing, he wouldn't leave himself vulnerable like that.

But toward the end of the trailer where Iron Man and War Machine were blasting away a bunch of what looked like android copies of them, that looked like a major plot twist nobody would have expected to see! I just wonder what Sam Rockwell's role as Justin Hammer, a rival businessman of Stark's, is going to be up to.

You gotta be kiddin' me.  You prefer L.L. Cool Jay over Don Cheadle?  You crazy, lady.

Anywho.  Some new footage, but not much that I didn't already know.  I still prefer the earlier trailer, the one that ends with War Machine in silhouette.

No matter how boring or dull they are on the outside, inside them they've all got unimaginable, magnificent, stupid, wonderful worlds. Not just one world. Hundreds of them. Thousands, maybe." Uh.. LL Cool J WASN'T the one playing Rhodey in the first movie. Terrance Howard was.

It looks like it's going to be very good.  I will definitely be going to see it.  ;D

As I understand it (and I haven't been following development that closely so I ay e outdated with this) they wanted Mandarin for the first film ut Miller convinced the director that he was too fantastical as a character. Instead they're going for a more Vader/Emperor dynamic with him... yes the Emperor is the one in charge... but the one you want to see in the fight scenes in Vader. It also builds up the Mandarin so when he finally does fight it's a big deal. The people involved have name-dropped Mandarin repeatedly so I expect someone called that will show up either in this film or the next... whether he's anything like the "classic" is a whole other question. If he appears and he has 10 rings on his fingers I'll be happy... it can't be worse than the Marvel film versions of Doom and Galactus...

That said, it's supposedly a trilogy and with this movie introducing a (young) Justin Hammer in a minor role he'll seemingly end up as the antagonist in the third... which leaves remarkably little space for a Mandarin character. It seems to me he's more likely to end up as a concept... which could work...

IM2 looks sexy.  It's on my list.

Russian, Electrified Whips...  And it's NOT Omega Red?  Consider me confused.

However, Warmachine looks good.

Omega was Russian with tentacles..

Blacklash is a MOBSTER with whips (just now he's a russian mobster instead of part of the Italian mob)

Have you forgotten that Disney now owns Marvel Comics? That's like asking every new film in the making to become the next Fantastic Four fiasco. Not ironically both of those portrayals you've chided are from the F4 movies.

Again, the Mandarin sounds like a guy who could have his own movie, not be an Iron Man rival. Iron Man is technological, so his enemies should be also, and that's basically the premise they're running with. And I like it. It's better than the Transformers movies.

I'd also heard that both Black Widow (SJ's character) and Hawkeye are going to be in the film. Possibly because both characters would be relatively low-tech to introduce as Avengers and not require their own movies to give any backstory. I wonder who'd play Hawkeye in that case? Any guesses?

PLEASE don't mention the FF movie

RubySlippers

Whiplash is Russian with a grudge and looking at the movie poster thingy he has full armor and a shoulder gatling gun. He will be kicking ass and taking names, add to that its a Russian tech suit its supposed to be simpler. But ever see their shit IRL its fraking nasty and practical.

Plus there is another opponent he has to contend with and its not likely he will be in armor when he is expecting to get lucky.  ;)

And Manadrine might show up in the Avengers movie but that is according to rumors but the Avengers Trilogy would be perfect toset him up properly. Must I add in this movie if Warmachine and Iron Man have to team up this Russian team must be wrong on so many levels.

Mathim

What do you mean? That Whiplash is going to have way more going for him than what we see in the trailer? Considering that Stark, with all his resources, only made Iron Man and War Machine (that we know of), it's unlikely that Vanko (Whiplash) will have been able to produce that much more. It's got to be a team effort (Vanko and Hammer) or something else is afoot. We're just going to have to wait five months to find out and before then we'll have lots more information and probably another trailer or two.

Metal 'tentacles'.  Which could have been changed for the Movie.  It's not like it's the first time they've taken artistic license.

But that also means, it could be 'Backlash'.

Only thing is, Backlash was usually portrayed as a mob soldier, doing jobs for everyone else.  While Omega, while a former Russian operative, was also the type to take matters into his own hands, which would fit the clip better.

Unless, of course, they've confirmed that Mr. Whips IS Backlash...

He has been used as the inspiration. (along with the Titanium man). Interesting point: Blacklash was a Stark Engineer who worked for the Magia (Mob). I wish I could find the article. The wiki page covers it as well.

The first movie was quite good and I was sold on this one the moment I heard Olivia Munn would be in it. Mmmm :)

Starkweather

Very excited about War Machine.

Don't think he'll turn villian 'till the next movie, if at all.

Mathim

Doubt they'll touch on that; I think it'll be tough enough to touch on Stark's alcoholism like they said they would. He is going to need to be clear-headed to take out his nemeses in this flick. Plus the reason WM went evil is because he was using IM's original armor and it screwed up his mind. Hopefully the third film will be all about some kind of World War Iron Man type of deal. I still hope we see some of the more low-tech Avengers in this, even if in name only (like Hank Pym and Wasp).
