It depends what sort of watersports scene you had in mind. Can you elaborate?
I think this is a publicly accessible thread? Then, we do really need an "interior" OOC. I'd like to have one apart from Characters, too. Oh, but I'm slightly curious about this too.
I got castrated once for moving a game from NC to extreme without consulting all my players.. That fact alone kind of upsets me so much I'm borderline insisting it all goes to NC, no questions.
I'm guessing it was the moving itself was at issue, and not where it started? Not to be pesky, but it seems to me one might
as easily get in trouble for having a lot of Ex references slip into the more "mundane" NC category. An effect I imagine of basing in NC might be additional click-steps when Ex-ish participants switch or translate their stories between categories. I think I would feel a little odd trying to keep track, and perhaps afraid of losing things. Is that just a spatial sense more than a real text issue? And presumably, starting in NC would ensure that the game "proper" would never be designated Ex. I don't mind that so much if there are workable spaces to expand, but your example does suggest that should follow.
If some people are falling squarely within Ex... I would think, if it's in Ex to begin with, we could make more subthreads within Ex for "softer" NC style. If we took that route, then we wouldn't need to create and toggle between boards in two separate sections. Unless the idea is to simply avoid viewing the other topics in Ex at the title level, or to encourage people to read it who don't normally look in Ex? Hmm... I'm not sure I understood everything you raised.
Myself, I don't know if I would directly participate in a lot of Ex... I'm just a little concerned that there might be some Ex, somewhere and in that case: Would there really be a practical place for it if the game were formally NC...? Wouldn't it be easier to move pertinent parts around, or peek between them, if it were all on one board category? I can use multiple tabs, but it's kind of nice to be able to click back and forth sometimes upon just opening things for a glance. Somehow, I tend to prefer a formal setup that is open to more at the beginning. My gut feeling is to compartmentalize within a structure, rather than making a more limited home and then pushing exceptions way outside. Is it just me?
