Basically, if there are no GM posts due, players can post out of initiative order, until all are met, before I go, and resolve the mess. Usually, it works out well, though buffers tend to mess with things. *casts a playful scowl at Myr*

By the way, since we're all adults here, you can use any form of die-rolling you like; I trust no one is going to cheat. If I don't use an off-site roller, I just roll my dice on my desk. =P

Okay, dice sounds more fun anyway ^^

Oops, I'm going back to edit now, but I meant to say that Lyra is taking a 5-foot step back, Using Combat Expertise and fighting defensively. -.-

Edit: And I'm a dork because that gives me a really bad attack, too. I just miss, and get the +2 AC from the fighting, and +2 from CE, for a total of +4 AC

*chuckle* I rolled it, anyway, since you forgot to, and rolled a 4, so it was a miss. Don't stress too much. =P

I'm trying not to, but I woke up last night at 3:37 AM thinking about it. *wink*

By the by, to reiterate...Caline does not have an 'H' in her first name!  Grr!

Faeylin

Eeek, sorry Myr *hugs and promises to be more mindful in the future* Actually, I was coming here just to make a post to explicitly state that I'm not Lyra and Lyra isn't me. Myrleena has written a bit with me, and I play countless characters, each with their own personalities. If Lyra is off-putting at all, and this would mostly be towards the tiefling twins, I just want to make it clear that I'm not really, as a person, hostile to them. If it's making anyone grumbly, I apologize a lot!

I'm sure it's not a big deal at all, and I'm just overthinking (because that's a bad habit of mine), but I had to say it...even if it makes me look silly.

If Tahline's player is up for it, I can see the two being rivals of a sort, throwing rude comments back and forth for at least a little while until they come to some sort of an understanding. The most important thing, though, is that its fun for everyone. So if that doesn't sound fun, we can avoid. But I think Tahline's last reply, and especially the rude tail gesture, is adorable. Okay, bye now. :P

I'm gonna just say this now, because I don't have a voice ingame; the lot of you'd better play nice, together, because I'm not going to tolerate party-infighting and distrust. It's okay for the first few 'days' or so, ingame, but I expect, and anticipate, the lot of you cooperating better.

That's fine with me. But if we keep role playing the conflict out, we can't exactly move past it. I really was just roleplaying with Lyra from the start, but it's become kind of a big issue between the characters, it seems. Whether or not we keep focusing on the clash between Lyra and Tahline will probably affect how well they get along. We could just gloss over it, and assume they work out their differences (offstage) well enough to work together if this is really a big issue.

But as long as Tahline keeps calling Lyra out on it, they're going to squabble. She's just not going to apologize for what she did. If we both keep the characters from making remarks about each other, that would probably make the group seem a lot more friendly and inclusive.

None of this bothers me one way or another, so whatever works best for the game is fine by me. ^^

I understand the roleplaying bit, as that is what pulled me into Tahline.  The issue is, I don't see how we can move past the issue without some sort of resolution.  Myr is already more than willing to just walk away from the game and I'll admit I'm more than a touch frustrated myself.  Between the in character conflict and then being blatantly ignored, we're both a bit...touchy at the moment.

The problem Tahline has is not that Lyra abandoned her or threw them to the hobgoblins but the fact that she shouted for the others to abandon them, only scant moments after pleading to surrender.  She's picked up enough to know Lyra is being dishonest about something and trying to read into it.  If the others had taken her word that the ones in the carriage had changes sides it's entirely likely the carriage would be gone, her sister would be dead and their two servants.  She was one or two blows from death, fighting the hobbo leader by herself for all intents and purposes before she dropped him.  Stepping out and having the woman that had just barely stated you weren't worth the effort of saving immediately run away again and leave her with the enemy she had been fighting didn't do anything to help the case.

OOCly, I would love to see this resolved in some way, in character.  It's going to involve everyone giving at least a little.  Tahline is not the type to try to manipulate the group into being her friend.  She has a lot...broader of a hero streak than I initially intended.  I'm still fleshing out parts of her motivation and the how's and why's of things.  Most of them are pretty set.  (I've, apparently, been playing way too many good characters lately...)

Well, if this is a really big issue, I don't mind stepping away from the game as well. I'm super busy with other projects anyway. I have a strict no-real-life-drama rule, and if the game is headed there, I'm more than happy to bow out.

Was looking forward to this game, but I have to agree... that the best thing to do here, if personal feelings are getting involved, is to end it. I'm only here to RP, RL feelings aside. If that's not possible, maybe we should stop it before it gets too out of hand.

Thoughts?

Myrleena

Okay, I was waiting for Shammie to get home so that I could talk to her.  Unfortunately she had to go to another late-night work bit, so we only got to chat about things for a little while.  I'm going to try to summarize the issues we've had, and her suggestion.

For one, while my character is very...annoyed with others, she's very much a follower, and will do what Tahline tells her.  So making her go along with things isn't difficult.  Honestly, I think the root of the problem, such as it was, was that there was a job offer, and within seconds it grew way out of proportion.  I'm honestly not sure how to get past it.  When Shammie said that I was 'more than willing to walk away', I meant it in character.  Honestly, if my character refuses to work with a group, I'll just have my wander off and build a new one.  I've done it before.

The other problem I saw was when Tahline said something to the group, and people acted like the post never occurred.  It was really upsetting to us to a point.  I know I had my character ignore a few things in character, but I made certain to point out that I was ignoring them in character.  That way people knew I didn't skip their posts.  That was one of the things we noticed.

Shammie's suggestion is that we keep characters and all, and essentially push the reset button and actually have a reason to play together, and I kind of agree.  The way we met wasn't a good way to get together for anyone but heroes, really, and most of our characters aren't that.  I don't want to just abandon the game myself.

DreadD

Might I ask what post was treated like it never happened?  I did my best to respond to each post that somehow related to my character, responding as my character would.

As for the IC conflict, I'm, honestly, interested in seeing how it plays out.  Perhaps making sure it does not come to IC blows is an appropriate OOC restraint, but this talk of quitting or people leaving, or whatever, seems incredibly premature.  And honestly, I think a scenario in which we end up having to work together, because we're endeavoring towards the same goals, even if we aren't all hunky-dory IC is likely a good and interesting RPing experience.  Some combat may be harder because we aren't functioning as a unified team, but that can be fun too.

Also, and I'd like to apologize for Myr and Shams for this, I have a lot of trouble reading IC posts written in first person, so it is possible I overlooked something I should have responded to in one of theirs due to my particular difficulties, my apologies if that is the case.

But really "Being the only competent people who can deal with the problem" is plenty of reason for us to work together and not kill each other...  Being able, or unable, to tolerate each other just adds to the RPing ^_^

Myrleena

It wasn't you that ignored her, DreadD.  I'm not going to point it out at the moment, either.  As for the other, Caline is currently of the opinion that she should show the map to the town guard, turn around, and head for Brindol to tell them before getting the hell out of town.  She doesn't trust Fae's character, nor does she want to work with her in any fashion after the declaration that they weren't worth saving.  She nearly saw her sister die, and if Tahline had gone down, she would have had a high level fighter in reach on one side, and a hellhound on the other, which would have killed her.  So she's not just being paranoid, considering what a single raiding band nearly did.

As for the First person bit, I'm sorry you have issues reading it.  It helps me get into character, so I tend to use it a lot more than not.

I really don't mind one way or another. I like the game, and I enjoy playing Lyra. I'm looking forward to doing more, and I'm actually loving the focus on action in the game.

What I'm hearing, and what's making me stop to say, "Maybe we should call this," is that people are OOC upset or frustrated with how things are going. Shammy said something about you being ready to walk away from the game, and being frustrated and touchy. The way that came across was that the players, and not the characters, are having those feelings. That's kind of no-no land for me. If people are having bad real life feelings, I'm ready to bow out.

I'm totally cool with glossing over things. When I posted via Lyra that the other two weren't worth saving, Lyra was really upset because she was being ganged up on and the others were not helping. She had good IC reasons for saying what she did. Afterwards, Tahline's character was very adversarial, so this is something that's been developed, and brought up over and over again. After Lyra's initial outburst, I really wanted to tone things down a bit, because it seemed like it might be a problem (and I got a PM to that effect). At the same time, she's not the kind of character who's going to back down to Tahline. If Tahline continues to rudely pursue the matter, they're going to squabble.

As far as not responding to Tahline's post, they were having some incredibly rude banter back and forth. I felt that she wouldn't really go out of her way to respond to Tahline at that point, so I left it to the other two characters to handle it. I was mostly just trying to avoid any further confrontation between the two of them, if that makes sense. I wasn't, as a player, trying to ignore anyone.

Again, if it's an OOC problem...and it can't be settled easily, it's probably just best if I step away. I really don't mind doing it, and I have no hard feelings any which way.

Alright, good. Everyone agrees that this is just in-character aggression, and that the two rogues dislike each other. Play it out in character that you don't like each other, fine... just work together, the lot of you. And if you need an arena to play out your anger, it turns out that, due to a mysterious, underground stream, the square in the middle of town in a muddy mess, perfect if two women get angry with each other, and need a place to fight. >_>

The real question is, can you sneak attack with mud?

Oh, I suppose it could also be a worthwhile question to ask if there are any particular 'mysterious' or 'mystical' effects on the mud wrestling puddle?

I love RP conflicts, myself. It makes it more interesting.. I remember playing one of the Dnd based games... Bauldar's Gate maybe.. and depending on which character you took, they had different sayings and such... their alignments had something to do with that.. it was more interesting to me...

Anyway... glad we could come to a resolution.

Myrleena

I don't want to go into it, but I'll just say that I'd appreciate people checking my A&A.
