That statement is a bit misleading, it refers to the thought that great apes may have all had more humanlike hands in the past and that knuckle-walking may have been something that co-evolved.

Strictly speaking, humans are a type of ape.  But very interesting anyway.

Well, I didn't mean for it to be misleading, what I meant to convey, and what I got from the article is that this newly discovered last common ancestor of modern day humans and chimps had characteristics that were more human-like rather than ape-like.
