Need assistance with D&D resources
« on: April 09, 2006, 02:58:22 AM »
I'm going to be running a D&D 3.5 game and I wanted to know what some of the best resources were for alterantive rules, some races, equipment compendiums, etc. etc.

I've already got a number of my own races, though I'd always love to add more.

i was also wondering if anyone had any resources for constructive writing and generally inspirational things, be it photographic, etc.?

I'm going to be making maps by hand and scanning them, or if anyone could point out a decent program, I'd be much obliged. I'm already probably going to be putting Photoshop CS2 to some good use..

Unfortunately, I dont have a forum for my game anymore, since someone deleted it and I need it back up, else I'd invite people to go ahead and add thier ideas directly to there so I could at least make some attempt to organize this whole mess.

If you're interested in playing, PM me, but beware I'm looking for people interested in at least exploring a realm of nontraditional happenings. ^^

The Completes are always a good way to flesh out your game.  I like the Races series, too, especially Stone and the Dragon.  Spell Compendium is either a treasure trove, or waste of money, depending on your players.  The Book of Exalted Deeds, and Book of Vile Darkness have some decent material, as well.

What sort of theme is it? *curious* If it's fantasy-themed I have a pdf of Aurora's whole realms catalogue, from Forgotten Realms, converted to a 3e version, sitting around somewhere for an item database. :) I mostly only have things like character generators and lists of feats and stuff, online.

Map wise, RPG Maker? Campaign Cartographer? Though I'm not too proficient at making maps, and I couldn't figure out how to use the latter yet. Also have a ton of cutout-style pdf token sets, though. Inns, dungeons, monsters, and the gods know what else.

The 'age' you'll be dealing with in the game is from Roman to near imperial. Which means I get to do my homework. @.@

But don't worry, it'll blend. You, as players and characters, need not know every lil' thing.. but it would be cool if I could get people to agree on a commonality.

I'll see about huntin' down some of the complete guides. I know I have some good ol' resources from 2e I intend to use.. ^^

It's not deleted honey, I put it in the archives as it hadn't been used.
(Take it you didn't get my pm about it?)

I'll drag it back out and you can then start a thread there for your discussion.

My forum board thingy is up!  And being added to slowly, because I have letters to write to various legal people, and a 3d project to do, and porn to work on (Goddamnit, if I knew how to draw better I'd already have some interactive flash games under my belt..), and Suikoden V to play..
