To each their own... I thought that game was an abomination that had little, if anything to do with the Shadowrun setting.

Fair enough.

No offense intended, Boggled.  :-)

I'm just a huge fan of SR and thought they could have done a game in that setting so much better.

Man, if I had millions of dollars, I would have the most badass Shadowrun MMO made... it would be glorious!

Then you probably know of the ( quite recently announced ) upcoming Shadowrun game(s), right? They sound promising. I'm not really a fan, as my only experience with Shadowrun was the  .. ahem, 360 version ( which I also think was pretty good, in its own way ... ), but ... well, it's a very interesting setting, anyway.

MMO or stand alone game?  I heard something vague about a kickstart project, but not much in terms of details.

Will it at least be set in Seattle?  (One of my main gripes with the 360 game)

I think a total of three Shadowrun games are in the works. The one that looks most interesting to me is Shadowrun Returns, the Kickstarter-funded one. I think most of the information that's currently available is there. It's not an MMO as far as I know ( it's supposed to ship with the mission / story editor they're using to make the game ). And apparently Seattle will be there, yes. They actually had a poll for backers of the project, concerning which city they'd like to see added next, and "More Seattle" was one of the more popular options.

So the reviews for Civ V: Gods and Kings are starting to come in and I read the Escapist's review. In short:

Religion was a plus giving peaceful players some more active ways to win.
Due to the schizo AI of the computer spying can be hit and miss.
The rework of naval combat is actually a bit too powerful now. Some ships are consider melee and can take cities. Also great admirals.

Pretty good from a reviewer I'm not a hater of.

Another thing. They've expanded the base unit rosters. Now when you get flight you get some WWI craft. Now flight doesn't give you the ROFLstomp.

I really want to try out the Steampunk Scenario they've said to have in it.

It looks really promising to me. Naval combat should be fun, as I like playing as the British and building a large navy ... that never really gets to do much of any real use.

I also like that there are now ranged units beyond crossbowmen.

I think the thing I'm most excited about is new civilizations, though. I'm ... simple like that.

Celts made me all fuzzy. Byzantium. I'm a Romano-Byzantine-Celtic nut. Rome is hands down the most-payed civ in my games save files. Something about watching Roman infantrymen march across America makes me all warm inside. :D

I'm going to write that book damnit! XD

Celts made me happy ( also in the pants ), and apparently they're quite good for religion-based games. I'm going to make a Buddhist Celt empire.

Now, the Hitchens-Dawkins disciple in me wonders if you must have a religion, or if it's possible to have a non-religious empire with its own advantages. Since apparently religion matters less in later periods, I suppose it would make sense that you can't not have a religion early on, and that it becomes less relevant with the Enlightenment and such, but ... the option would be nice to have.

With Borderlands 2 so close...does anyone think I should get Borderlands 1?

PSN has it on Sale for PS+ members at $20 with all the expansions....

Its a pretty forgettable game overall. The story is...not so great though the ending is a bit of a surprise unless someones spoiled it for you already (and I know the endings been written out in this thread at least twice). The DLCs are also pretty forgettable, if I didnt get the complete addition for christmas I would have been annoyed with how lackluster I found them.

To be fair it is up to personal taste. If you dont mind a kind of Diablo FPS in the sense of constantly trading out gear and selling the worse stuff then its worth a look. The humor is also there but not amazing

As much as I hate on the ending (both in the plot department and just how atrocious the actual end boss battle was) the games great if you can get some co-op going. I enjoyed it by myself though :) And to be fair, the game did kind of set us up to hate the ending... I mean, the entire narrative was screaming at you GET TO THE VAULT! GET TO THE VAULT! D= THE VAULT IS A THING! HURRY! And then just turns around at the last second wearing the most infuriating Trollface and goes LOL y u open vorlt? st00ped xD

Gosh, there is just nothing I can play right now. I'd love the thirty bucks to buy GaK but no such luck.

Play an older game. You dont have to go buy a new one everytime youre bored, you just need to go look into your game library and find something interesting

Well lets just say being a PC gamer has some perks in that regard. Nearly everygame has a graphics update mod of some kind. I can make Morrowind look like Skyrim in 5 mins if I want  ;D

Or I could go back to making my own mods again. I havnt done that in many many many years

Problem being I remember just enough of all the games in my library that it does get boring. Plus Gods and Kings is an expansion to a game I already have. What's stopping me from playing Dragon Age Origins. I remember every element that makes the Circle Tower God awful. Let's not even get into Orzimar, though that has that creepy horror in the end that makes up for it.

It's at this point that you play something large, like Fallout 3/New Vegas....or Oblivion/Skyrim, and just do a character that you've never done before.

Seconded. Im actually doing a full playthrough of the new vegas complete addition. I just finished dead money last night and Im going to be doing lonesome road next (and I walked out with all 37 gold bars that are stacked neatly on a desk in my lucky 38 room). Barely touched the main story too.

Actually on that note I find the story about the courier's past and courier 6 to be far more interesting then the main story

I don't think you have any idea how much time I put into all of those games. :\ The problem with those games is that I can put all the backstory and internal narrative into them I want, but at the end of the day I'm still playing the same quests.

Are you crazy? Lonesome road is the end of the main story.

That's like reading a book in reverse!

Huh, I was under the impression that you couldnt do lonesome road after the main story

I started doing a variety of quests and roaming the wasteland as an energy weapons, science, and speech expert for the game. Kind of a charismatic shock trooper if you will. I got into the lucky 38 then did everything besides the main quest line. I did honest hearts first (interesting take on tribal culture and evolution after the great war), then Old world blues(got tedious after a bit but still funny), then dead money (always liked the survival horror feel of that one) and I was planning to do LR next. After my experiences in the big empty and dead money I was looking forward to meeting courier 6

Oh and I forgot to mention my courier at 46 or something like that has every skil at 100 now. He did earlier but I keep finding it funny that I maxed him out

Sounds like a nine intelligence death run to New Vegas through the north while trying to collect enough junk and as few experience run so you can go to the casino and get the intelligence implant before level two to me. :\

Close. 8 Intelligence to start +1 from intense training. +Educated and comprehension with all the books in the main game. I did get the int implant early on but it was like level 6 or so. With 50 levels you dont have to get it at 2 to max everything out anymore

I actually kind of planned out my next courier already

Strength 6
Perception 6
Endurance 5
Charisma 4
Intelligence 5
Agility 7
Luck 6

Tag skills: Guns, survival, and melee
Secondary skills: Repair and medicine
Weapon of choice: Medicine stick (unique brush gun), mysterious magnum (unique .44 magnum) and chances knife (unique combat knife)
Perks: Intense training (perception), educated, comprehension, cowboy, hand loader, Toughness x2, comando, sniper, Finesse, better criticals, action boy, nerves of steel

and thats as far as Ive gotten

Diablo 2 is considerably more difficult than I remember it being. Andariel was fairly easy. Duriel was a serious pain. Mephisto, who I used to think of as a boss you just farmed for good loot ... actually took a while to kill ( and the bastard didn't drop a single unique item! ). I shudder to think of what Diablo will be like.

It might just be because I'm playing an Amazon and most my attacks are ranged and elemental. My previous playthroughs have been as a Paladin and Barbarian, which is more straightforward and not based on elemental damage.
