Don't you ever insult the knight-lady with the French accent.
[Insert snappy insult about the knight-lady with the French accent here] :P

So I'm guessing Dragon's Dogma is pretty awesome then?

Damn, there goes my money. I'll have to start hooking or something.  >:(

It's a solid game with some issues, but you've probably played worse and enjoyed it.

EDIT: More importantly:

XCOM: Enemy Unknown E3 2012 Trailer [HD]

EEEEEEEEEEEH!

So I'm exploring this well for this guy and lo and behold, armored fucking lizards. I think, "Gee, it's nice to shoot them with impunity from my lofty perch of perchiness (true facts), what I don't realize is that there are about a billion of them. So goes the lengthy process of waiting for them to try and get me while I slice of their tails, because once their tails go they're pushovers. Still, they do regenerate like a mother (by the way, restarted as a strider, much cooler).

So just when I think I've gotten me some druthers, a wolf comes out of know where and one-shots me to critical, way to crap in my Easter basket universe. :)

I spent the better part of an in-game night fighting dire wolves. They just kept coming, pack after pack. Not just dire wolves, mind. It started with a pack of dire wolves, a chimera ambushed me as I was fighting them, and after I'd killed the wolves, I killed the chimera, but more wolves kept coming. I probably killed around two or three dozen.

I made it to Gran Soren (fucking wove D:) the harpies were fun because I've got a pervo mage who wears, get this, a white coat, underpants, and leather cross garters, a dinky little hair, and a kind of Orlando Bloom in pirates mustache, and he has the enchant fire spell. So I'd just arrow volley or three shot spread harpies and they'd writhe on the ground burning.

It's priceless. Tall, exotic amazonian archer, her fair haired right-hand she-elf who throws around sir in a cool Marcie and Peppermint Patty kind of way, a viking warrior with the highest pitched voice you ever heard, and pervo mage.

ADVENTURE!

Dragon's Dogma has got me pissed. If it's one area that it doesn't do well it's control of characters in your party. The pawns are okay, no it's the random incompetents you pick up in the most dreaded of missions: the escort. There's no wait or follow commands for them as far as I can tell, and when the only narrow mountain road leads straight into a cyclopes you're fucked. The guy is going to get crushed. So, I reloaded a checkpoint, which is about two hours gone I guess, plus I have to re-buy a lot of stuff.

Also, Dragon's Dogma's economy hates your guts so hard. I made it to the capital with seventy-thousand gold. However, the next gear tier apparently costs 10k at least now. Sheesh guys, money-sink, much? Don't try and figure it out. The capital is basically the second real town in the story, and it's got the most expensive regular gear. Uggh.

I have about 300K gold and nothing to spend it on. Oh, well!

Escort quests are a pain, that's definitely true. It's all because the game has an atrocious checkpoint system. I think if you die, you can retry from the last autosave, but if you reload the last checkpoint, that takes you back to the last time you rested or visited the rift.

Well, you can make constant saves, but I wasn't gong to take this near-dead guy up a narrow ledge, past an armored cyclopes or two, through a man-hating bandit fortress. Nope. I just have to re-buy the gear and avoid that quest until much later, because you can't just meet the guy somewhere no, he starts following the second you take the quest.

EDIT: So I figured out how to multiclass, err... change vocations. Seriously, don't rob the inns of Gransys, the guys are all blackbelts of the highest level. They let you learn anything if you have the experience to spend on it. Made my diminutive elf chick a big old two-hander, and ran out of money... other than that I picked up another big guy, his name is Tyrone, and I traded in pervy mage for Eskimo-mage.

Went outside killed some saurans (the cloaking lizardmen). You can't hide if I can fan out seven arrows. :)
Rangers are like snipers, a lot of animals just fly back, and you keep most of your average blade skills.

Sounds like Diablo 3. There are so very few checkpoints that you end up running all over creation to get back to where you were when you ate it. >.<

Is it different from the way it was set up in Diablo 2?

Welp, seeing as how I'm in the minority of people who liked Splinter Cell Conviction, I am not at all surprised to see people raging over SC: Blacklist. It seems to perfect the system Conviction had going, and I am REALLY excited to see how it plays it. But no, people want to squat in a broom cupboard and watch the guards to memorize their routes, the second things start moving it ceases to be stealth. Did it ever occur to these people that there may be different ways to handle a stealth game? We've had the old Splinter Cell, we've had Hitman, and the new Splinter Cell is trying something totally new, a more Jason Bourne approach, and it's friggen working.

Splinter Cell Blacklist - First Gameplay Demo

Everyone's mad that it's not old school xD

*shrugs* Ive never really been into Splinter cell and I dont think that particular iteration will change anything for me.

I havnt seen everything from E3 yet but the most interesting for me was Planetside 2. I like the idea of a battlefield style game only with futuristic elements and in a persistant, living world where logistics play a big part. I also like the idea of constantly shifting front lines and even assaulting far off areas to gain new foot holds for your faction.

Although, maybe its just me, but I think it would be nice to see up to 5 factions rather then 3

The only thing that I'm mad about in Blacklist is it doesn't sound like Michael Ironside isn't doing the voice anymore. D:<
Otherwise, it looks awesome. It's a lot more fluid than Conviction, I like the idea of "Dynamic Stealth". In the old school of stealth it was passive. You watched and skulked around in this new one you're not hiding so much as not getting shot. It's about dominating the room without ever getting the bead drawn on you.

Also, Brandon... XCOM... that is all... >:|

I've moved back to playing Skyrim as I never got around to finishing it and D3 interrupted that.. I'm a bit tired of constantly dying on Inferno mode so I think I'm going to give D3 a break for a little while ><

Sort of. There are still waypoints, but you don't always start back in town. There are certain checkpoints in the game quest where if you leave in the middle of a map, you'll start back at the checkpoint (Usually at the start of a certain map).

Partially.

For one, porting back to town doesn't checkpoint like it used to.

The checkpoints themselves are so absurdly few and far between... >.<

Splinter Cell is dead to me. I liked Conviction, but Blacklist... Whose idea was it not to have Michael Ironside as Sam Fisher? He is Sam Fisher!

Well, that was a demo, for E3. So maybe they're going to bring in Ironside later. That could have been placeholder V/O. I don't really know.

Still, OUTRAGE! :D

Didn't they say they wanted to do motion capture with all the actors there, interacting, and recording voices at the same time? I think that's the reason. Ironside isn't exactly young, or in great shape. And he's short. I just wonder why they couldn't create a new character. I mean, it wouldn't be the same as playing Fisher, but neither is playing a character who's Fisher in name only.
