1.    Tell us how you found us, please? A link from another site, another member, a search engine phrase, etcetera.

Answer: I tried out a couple of RP AI things, and while they were useful in some ways, it was overall kinda lackluster. So I started poking around for better alternatives, saw this site mentioned, and it sounded like a site an old friend of mine highly recommended so I figured I'd try it out.


2.    Confirmation that you understand and agree to abide by our rules. You are responsible for bringing up any questions if you do not understand our rules, so please note any on which you need clarification here.

Answer: Everything seems pretty straightforward to me. I don't see anything that makes me do a double-take or anything.


3.    A confirmation that you are at least eighteen (18) years of age. You don't need to give your birth date, however we do need a clear statement that you are of age.

Answer: I am in excess of 18 years old. I am old enough to remember when Netflix sent you movies by mail. I'm old enough to remember an internet without Google. The first video game I ever bought for myself as a kid was Age of Empires I. Hopefully that's pretty telling.


4.    Your native language(s) and what region you are from. List your primary language first and include all others in order of fluency. Elliquiy is an English speaking community but it is also a global one.  We welcome members from all over the world, and we love to know where our members hail from.

Answer: I'm a native English speaker, and am not fluent enough in any other languages to really be worth mentioning.


5.    What are your reasons for joining Elliquiy, and what aspects of our community are you interested in? What do you look for in an on-line community in general, and a role-playing community specifically? Please be descriptive. Elliquiy isn’t just an adult roleplaying site: we have forums for storytelling, poetry, and art; places to socialize with other members; areas to discuss politics and religion; and so much more! You can check out our Preview of Elliquiy to get an idea of what you’ll see as an approved member.

Answer: Honestly, I'm really jazzed about the idea of getting to write with other passionate writers. I feel like lot of online spaces are dominated by the semi-literate, and to have a space to engage with folks who are more intentional in how they write is exciting to me. And the fact that you guys have other avenues to express creativity besides just roleplaying is pretty cool too. I'm an amateur poet, so that seems like a cool place to check out here too.


6.    Are you new to roleplaying? If so, would you like someone to help you get more involved? If not, please tell us a little about your past experiences. Regardless of your experience what are your expectations from a roleplay partner?

Answer: No, I'm not new. I've done this sort of thing before, but usually just writing with significant others or non-adult contexts of cooperative story writing. MY creative writing club in high-school did a group storytelling sort of thing, and in college I had some friends who did a kind of round-robin story writing thing I participated in as well.


As far as expectations go, I think I'm pretty amenable to most things. Life is crazy sometimes so I get that it's pretty likely folks will have different availabilities and post lengths and things. Generally, I think, if you can write pretty decently and communicate like a human being I think I'd get along with you.

7.    Elliquiy consists of a wide array of sexualities, personalities and enthusiasts of various kinks. How comfortable are you interacting in such a community?

Answer: Totally comfortable. Everyone's free to make their own choices in life and deserves respect and decency regardless of said choices.


8.    How do you feel about males writing as female characters or females writing as male characters? Please elaborate: do you do this yourself? Would you write with someone who is doing this? If you are transgender or intersex, feel free to adapt this question appropriately.

Answer: I don't have a problem with it as long as they communicate that's what's going on. Again, people can do whatever the heck they want with their lives; I'm not here to judge. I feel like, while I don't do that much myself, maybe it'd be cool to interact with folks who do and get their perspectives.


9.    Let us know about your pet peeves or other things that bother you. Fetishes you do not like, styles you cannot appreciate and attitudes that annoy you are all valid answers here.

Answer: I'm not a fan of intolerant and narrowminded people. Also, people who don't know how to let go of a disagreement or walk away from an argument are pretty obnoxious to me.


Optional Questions:
A.    Would you like to disclose your gender identity? ......

Answer: I'm cismale, and I don't mind people knowing that.


B.    What are some hobbies or activities you particularly enjoy? This can be anything you enjoy in your free time. For example: videogames, sports, cooking, crafts, traveling, reading, etcetera. As a large and diverse community, we often have social areas where our members can talk about their favorite things. Let us know what you like so we can better help you find boards, threads, or discussions that might interest you!

Answer: I really enjoy reading, videogames, and being out in nature. I really enjoy cooking too, although I'm definitely a cook and not a baker.


C.    What would you do if a writing partner suddenly, and without prior discussion, included one of your major offs in your roleplay?

Answer: I'd probably try to talk it over with them outside of the roleplay to clarify why they did that; after all, everyone makes mistakes every now and then. But if it turns out they're just not respecting my boundaries then I'll just cut the game short. Life is too short to deal with people who can't be bothered to respect others boundaries


D.    Please describe your writing style and preferences. Information such as preferred genre, writing perspective (first, second, or third person perspective), setting, and post length are great answers.

Answer: I like historical fiction, fantasy, and science-fiction most, but I'm comfortable with others as well. I definitely prefer writing in 3rd person, and I feel like I can generally write a few paragraphs at a time for this sort of thing.


E.    Please describe your ideal roleplaying partner and their character.

Answer: I feel like that's going to depend almost entirely on the story that's going on. I don't know that I have an "ideal", and I would (gently) argue that that's a good thing, because it makes it easier for me to engage with others at their level without constantly trying to measure them against some personal ideal standard.


F.    As part of the application process, our members like asking fun questions of applicants. We want to get to know you and entertain you during your approval process!

            F1. Please let us know if you would you prefer: fun/silly questions, writing prompts, both, or neither.

Answer: I will answer literally anything. I won't promise it will be the most incredible answer, but I will at least attempt to answer whatever you ask.

            F2. If you would like fun questions or a writing prompt, please start by treating the following as either a question, writing prompt, or character building exercise, and remember to keep it PG13: People start waking up with superpowers, but they are mostly useless. For example, the power to be immune to every third bullet, or the power to force people to do the chicken dance whenever the song is played. What would your ‘mostly useless’ power be, and how would you use it?

Answer: Oooh, that's a good one. I think it would be the ability to make people hear their most hated earworm song on the next radio/ad/etc. they go by. And I'd use it to cope with my irritation with other drivers on the road. Like, sure buddy, you cut me off and saved yourself a whopping 3 seconds of driving time, but you know what? Now you're gonna have that annoying song in your head the  rest of your day, so enjoy that. And that would bring me great joy.

            F3. If you prefer no crazy questions or prompts, you can still include a sample of your writing, if you would like; we would love to see your writing style and creativity! As with all areas of Elliquiy you can see right now, please keep your writing sample PG13.

Answer: Vassa pressed his back against the wall, his hauberk dragging slightly with a soft whisper against the rough stonework as he listened tentatively to the hushed talk going on in the next room. Though he couldn't make out all of the voices, he was certain that High-Prince Oryk was one of them; that thrice-accursed cur's nasally whine cut through any conversation like a butchers cleaver through yesterday's hog. But despite being able to hear that there was conversation happening, he couldn't quite make out the gist of the topic until, loudly and without any warning, an object was thrown across the room with a crash and the High Prince shrieked, "I don't care if he's my father! I want the old codger killed and his crown upon my own head by the end of the week!"

Answer: Is cake or pie superior, and why? Also, for any of you who are parents: someone is collecting maxims and advice for a "parenting guidebook". What is your submission to this guidebook?

Pie primarily because, while I like both, pie just has more options that I like. :)

- Replace the road with pie or cake? I feel like pie, because it's denser and more structural, and so while there would obviously be some necessary trial and error in adapting our driving techniques to the new road surface I think that, overall,  the impacts on day to day travel would be minimal
- Friend who recommended this site: I do, but I haven't talked with him much in a couple of years and out of respect for his privacy I'm going to decline giving his name out until I can at least check in with him about it.

Hmm, I have a funny answer and an honest one.

The funny answer is: the first one would teach me how to be smarter with money, the second would teach me how to bake bread without messing it up, and the third would teach me how to dance without embarrassing myself.

The honest answer is: the first one would teach me to be better at listening to others, the second would teach me to take more time to think about my choices, and the third would teach me the value of being more decisive in life.

And that is my favorite feeling in the world.

Answer: You have two doors before you, both are closed and both are unlocked. You can hear sounds on the other side of each door.

The first, rushing water.

The second, a crackling fire.

Either door is safe. But leads to different mysteries. Which door would you choose?

Oooh... I feel like it would depend a little bit on how we define rushing water, but my mind went to something akin to a waterfall or a river in full course so with that in mind I'd say the door with the sound of fire behind it. "Crackling" evokes to me memories of fireplaces and campfires, both of which I have a lot of positive feelings toward so that's why I feel pulled to that door.

Ok, One, I love that you moved toward comfort. The evocation of that word was specific for you and the imagery is lovely. 

I am a firm believer that water and fire are the elements that give us the closest identities that we as human identify with. And depending on how you hear and answer the question it tells me a lot.

Fire crackling giving you comfort shows that you do not immediately jump toward a solution to the blaze, but what the blaze is used for. Gatherings, food, family, comfort. Function and purpose, nested in experience.

Not just light, or destruction, but warmth. 

I look forward to seeing if your writing is similar.
