So, several times over the past few days, but most notably in the last hour or two, I have been receiving e-mail notifications of replies to threads I am tracking, but when I go there, there is no new reply. This has happened to multiple threads, and they are all active ones with multiple daily replies. But for example, I got a notification at 9:12 PM (Pacific Time) that RainyHigh had posted to "Guilty or Not Guilty II." But when I went to the topic, the most recent reply was mine at 8:12 PM, and RainyHigh had responded at 7:48 PM prior to that. This is not the only topic where this has been happening. "What's a Dealbreaker" has also been doing the same thing, sending me notifications every hour or so that there's a new reply, even when there's not.

I'm starting to realize other threads over the past few days have been doing it too, but I've just been assuming that I've seen them here on the site before receiving the e-mails... and that is not the case now.

EDIT: And again, just now, 9:24 PM in the Guilty or Not Guilty II thread, a notification of a reply by KittenTrix (who last posted at 7:23 PM) that doesn't exist.

Could you go to your notifications and temporarily toggle them to 'receive message body in notification'?  That would probably clarify what post you're being notified about (like if the post is one you've already read and the notice is lagging).  That would narrow the culprit down.

TIL I could do that. That would normally be my setting anyway. Done.

It defaults to off because people keep replying to them.

Can you post the exact links that were sent to you?

For the Guilty or Not Guilty thread it was always https://elliquiy.com/forums/index.php?topic=306193.new#new

And for the Dealbreaker thread it was https://elliquiy.com/forums/index.php?topic=356365.new#new

Which always took me to the latest new reply, which several occasions in a row was mine. (There was a new reply just posted in the Guilty or Not Guilty thread for which I did not receive a notification.)

Edit: I just got the Guilty or Not Guilty post notification, almost two hours after the post was made. Maybe that's what's happening?

That's what I was suspecting.  There's a delay somewhere between the notification being generated here and it being received at your end.  It might help to whitelist anything from elliquiy.com, so that it doesn't tumble around the 'is this spam' algorithm any longer than it should.  Rapid-fire threads could be a bit of a red-flag from a machine's point of view.

I have all communications from Elliquiy marked as "important."

I haven't received an e-mail notification of your post from this thread yet though.

It's now happening for PMs as well, where I don't get the notification until hours later.

Update: Okay, so after going over prior notifications with a fine-toothed comb, it appears that there is a delay of roughly two hours to e-mail notifications of replies that started about a week ago. I'm using Gmail, Elliquiy replies are not just white-listed, but noted as high priority, so there's nothing that SHOULD be slowing down notifications on my end. But obviously this is just a "me" problem and not the site in general so.... I'm at a loss. But since I check the notifications at the top of the site every time I visit, and I visit more or less every time I come to my computer, it shouldn't cripple my ability to reply to posts.

Still, it's curious.

Take a peek at this thread for a potential explanation, Lost?

Delay might be due to some of the repairs Veks had to do? Email queue was backed up, it seems?

That would likely explain it. So it will likely sort itself out soonish. Thanks.
