Would have to be something small enough to not be a major character point, but larger enough to be something she thanks Doc for fixing/saving her for. I already have the idea of her having PTSD from surviving a station collapse, so I don't want to overwrite that trauma. Could have him be the one handling her long term physical therapy. Could also use that to make her more reliant on her exoskeleton; long term physical trauma means she needs it to function normally as a prosthesis.

Speaking of trauma, @Aethyrium, would Addison Hayes treat crew as well, or just criminals? Could have her handling the psychological side of Talya's therapy.

Sorry if that was rambling.

Cool, how about this?

Talyra was injured in such a way that it threatened her ability to walk again.  She ended up under some scrap with a back injury.  But thanks to Doc, she's on her way to a full recovery, using the exoskeleton as part of her therapy.

I think her passion and personal interest is in the criminals. That said I absolutely do think she was seeing crew and other personnel. She has all the training and what not, and the people who work the Charon are around the things that interest her, so I can imagine that it's all very overlappy.

tl;dr yes, I'm sure she does, and that would be great!

Quote from: Outcast on May 08, 2025, 05:02:35 PMAethyrium It looks as if Addison would be not just another nerd, but someone whose interests overlap - Helena looking at community-building and group identity, while Addison focuses more on individual identities.
Yeah! They definitely seem to have some shared interests. A like mind in a dark place is a good thing to have. I think we can definitely build something between them, seems like easy involvement with one another!

@Outcast and @Revna - are you still working on your CS? Or finished up? No rush! Just wanted to make sure you weren't waiting on approval!

Here are some potential connections.  Talyra and Van were discussed.

The rest have not been discussed.

@Fiadh @Aethyrium @Revna @PeachyPie @mainsnoires @Outcast - Please let me know what you think:

Connections:

If another character has gotten wounded or sick, Doc most probably attended to them.  If they're an attractive woman (or a really attractive man), he's at least attempted to be charming and flirtatious with them.

Ship's Crew

Talyra Grimsdottir - "The chief medical officer before me said not to bother trying to fix her back injury, just put her in a wheelchair.  Talyra didn't just walk, though - she really moved.  And I wasn't going to let her roll around when she could climb and jump instead.  I fixed her up, but now she just has to keep the therapy going.  Get that booty bouncing around again."

Livina Ketch - "I sleep a lot better knowing she's between me and the prisoners.  I've lost track of how many times she's saved me and helped me save others."

Prison Staff

Addison Hayes - "She's given me plenty of insight on patients.  Understanding their minds helps me fix their bodies."

Helena Montfort - "She attended a first aid course I offered to prison personnel.  And she's somehow provided me with info and data that I couldn't find myself."

Inmates

Jinx Holloway - "She comes in to see me even when nothing's wrong with her.  I think she just likes teasing me, seeing if I'll take her bait.  Not that I mind her trying."

Elowyn "Lo" Hunter - "I pulled some strings and got the plant lover a chance to do some work in hydroponics.  Even got her some soil to use."

Vanessa "Van" Kilrey - "She's quiet.  At least as strong as two men put together.  And possesses impressive anatomical knowledge.  Best orderly ever."

Cade Voss - "I turned around and there was an inmate, scalpel in his hand, looking like he was going to eviscerate me.  Then he just... dropped dead.  And behind him was another inmate.  Cade Voss.  We didn't say a word.  He just walked away and left me with the body."

Sorry - RL has mugged me.  I wanted to post in case anyone could spot somewhere that I'd screwed up, but had meant to have things finished by now.  :-[

You're just fine! Not behind or anything, we're definitely still running approvals and getting set up. Don't you worry about it one little bit. <3

Quote from: Fiadh on May 08, 2025, 06:43:38 PMPerfect, yes. They would have much more professional contact this time around with Helena's new tech position. I could see Liv coming around Helena's post at the securiy bay for briefings and if she wanted to send Liv any updates on the systems or other concerns she may have picked up. Liv is still floundering in her personal life so some literary refuge and company would be most welcome, too!

Sounds great.  As a comparative late-comer to the wonders of books, Helena will almost certainly still be gleefully eager to share the joy with other people who can appreciate it.  She'll very probably still be working on 'rounding out' her education, with all the references she missed out on in her childhood.  :D

Helena has probably had to try quite hard not to hit on the gorgeous XO - who is clearly in need of a friend and some stability, rather than more lechery.  ;D

Nerds of the world jail-ship in the arse-end of space, untie!   ::)   Someone who appreciates Helena in geek-out mode would be very much appreciated - especially someone who can push her to continue developing her ideas, and point her at topics to investigate and consider.

Perfect! They can share a lovely bond over books; and although Helena is reformed, that past won't be held against her by Liv at all. She's a smart enough woman to understand when someone is actually trying vs. the facade one might see on a lot of criminals back on the habitable worlds. In fact it will be very refreshing for Liv to chat with Helena during her spates in the library.

Well... much as Liv does not want to mix personal and professional, they are bound on a ship and have to work closely with each other to a degree. She won't say no to being hit on by the lovely librarian/techie! Liv's got a wall that needs chipping away at, is all.  ;)

Aethyrium

If you're currently doing a wait for an approval PM response, please do us a patience! Peachy has a long work day today, and early day tomorrow. So expect something tomorrow evening at the latest.

Aethyrium

Sending out some more PMs, and wanted to check in with some voices we haven't heard from in a bit!

@xPeachyPuff & @CyrodilicBrandy

Still hopeful to see your ideas, if you're still interested!

Can I add a half-dragon dual-wielding unicorn warrior grrrl?

Is she a half dragon dual wielding unicorns? Either way this sounds like a win-win scenario.

Interested in Balam having known Talyra? She could be the point of contact between the engineering team and the inmate 'volunteers'.

Welcome.

How about if Doc patches him up regularly, provides him with drugs and/or wins bets Doc places on Balam's fights?

Yes, it makes sense, was thinking the same thing. Talyra might have drafted Balam for some of the maintenance jobs... involving less engineering, and more duct-tape, hammering, or welding.

Taking a closer look, the two do share the quiet, no-nonsense characteristic.

Blood and Bone is among my favorites. I occasionally go on a fighting movie watching spree.
