I'm not sure if this is a debate but it feels very relevant to both this website and the subject of politics.

There is a very, very, long and well-documented history of ultra anti-LGBT politicians being outed as leading secret double lives that include gay lovers. Secretly writing smut online doesn't seem nearly as hard to hide from everyone. Most E users ignore PRoC (as they should) and never express their political views. There are definitely Trump supporters here.

Also not everyone who voted for Trump is a rabid clown who agrees with him on everything.

Yeah there have been a few people on here who have openly supported trump in the past, some were polite, others I recall got the door for an interesting(?) level of idiocy.

Actually despite what the far right religious ideologues would have you believe, conservative folk are actually quite sexual, perhaps repressed by the ideological demands of those segments of society they principally take part in, but as a matter of fact sex is just a normal and fundamental component of the human experience. Participating in an overbearing ideology won't undo that.

I have fears and anxiety for all our American writer's here on E. I have a deep existential feeling of dread for the future of Elliquiy. Even if the madness can be quieted, I wonder how long it is going to continue for. My paranoid side makes me want to suggest that the forum itself start to lock itself away from prying eyes so much so that only members can see what it's about... whatever it takes to shelter you all from the puritanical madness of MAGA and Project 2025

But I also realize that on the outside (here in Canada) all we see is all the crazy and unhinged stuff going on. All that dark stuff that paints the USA in such a hellscape like vision. Of course when our people are being detained and locked away for no reason and no cause as they do nothing more than cross the American border... it's hard not to see it in any other way.

I begin to wonder in my paranoia if the American company that runs my internet service will turn all my personal information over to the American government and it's army of puritans so they can try to punish me for typing words on a website for adult fiction.  What will my country say when America decides it's illegal to write words and they ask for my extradition... Will we deny it? How can we? Could we even stop them if they came for me? Would my own government acquiesce to this request as is currently in our extradition treaty?
