RFK Jr.'s autism study to amass medical records of many Americans

As someone on the spectrum, this is legit the time I feel it right to be scared considering RFK's words and thoughts.

Aiden

Im sure the Trump team will respect Hiipa and make sure the data doesn't end up on Musk private server back in Russia.

Regardimg RFK's study: is he even allowed to this, legally? Can the federal administration just demand that doctors give up patient's medical records?

Also, I have a general question: what's the public opinion re: Trump like now in America? He's been in power for 3 months now. So far, he managed to cause a lot of chaos with DOGE, his boasts of being able to end the war in Ukraine turn out to lead to nothing - and the tariffs are a mess Trump is obviously trying to backtrack on. What are the Trump supporters saying right now? Do any of them start to realize that they've been swindled and this guy doesn't know what he's doing?

Aiden

No because the trump voters are either too stupid to realize how bad it is.

To poor for it to matter and their hate overpowers any empathy (temporarily embarrassed millionaires)

Or so rich they only want to make more money.

Or so racist and/or anti women they would rather vote in a rapist who has bankrupted numerous companies over a educated black woman.

Racism has become mainstream and has been evolving

Black people, asian people, “gay marriage” , latinos, Muslims, trans people, migrants (latinos again) now they are getting to autistic people

Also lets talk about lack of due process and being shipped to a county with death camps (concentration).

More relevant question: who's to stop them?

It's an important point. At the end of the day it doesn't really matter what the law does or doesn't say. If they are pulling it off, and no one is willing or able to stop them than it.

And some people are just so used to people playing by or at least pretending to abide by the rules that many just don't know what to do when someone comes along and starts deliberately setting things on fire.

It's not necessarily complacency or endorsement of what's happening. They genuinely just don't know what to do because it's such a weird situation. The people supposed to step in and stop this are the ones doing it. You can't threaten to go above the president's head and appeal to a higher auauthorityalot of peope are just at a loss for how to proceed

See, the problem with your statement is: He told them he was going to do all this. They voted for him. So, that makes it endorsement of what is happening.

If somebody says 'Vote for me, and I'll burn your house down, and you vote for him, you don't get to complain when your living room goes up in smoke.

The big problem is that the fire is taking out their neighbors' houses too.

Well I mean it's really just one of the defining features of Fascism is that the regime (or some component of it) is effectively above the law and all rules that would apply in a healthy system - or even just the system that installed the regime itself. Fascism in practice is a system of usurpation.

As for the question of Conservatives, there are some who have questioned, whether or not it's enough or if that will play out in the standard American response of withholding in the midterms remains to be seen.

There's a very good reason the GOP is telling its elected members to avoid hosting any public meetings or town halls that don't have curated, pre-approved member lists and questions.

I mean, have you seen the price of tomatoes this year?  (But wait until August.  Then we have zucchini!)

Aside: We used to have two Itallian all-you-can-eat buffet restaurants within driving distance: Frankie Tomato's and Vinnie Zuccini's. Both closed permanently, COVID lockdown casualties.

I was going with the idea that zucchini are an unfortunate favorite with many suburban gardeners, being stupidly prolific and easy to grow.  Hence the resulting Sneak a Zucchini onto your Neighbor's Porch Day.

Tomatoes are just a handy size and consistency for pelting unpopular performers (and the performative nature of GOP 'representatives' is particularly obvious this term.)

yes. You can pickle most vegetables.

I can't say from experience because I don't like pickles, but there's enough recipes for zucchini pickles that they probably are good to folks who like pickled veggies.

Oniya

There's a couple of Korean pickled zuke recipes that look pretty good.

Trump just posted an AI image with himself as a pope.

*facepalms*

BTW. Have you guys seen that bit from Terry Moran's interview where Trump really insists that Kilmar Abrego Garcia had a gang name literally tattooed on his hand? And seems genuinely unable to understand that the letters were added in Photoshop as a description?

If anybody needed a proof that this guy is thick as a brick...

Trump sounds like such a pissy toddler whenever he's challenged by someone who knows more than him (which has to be like, 90% of the world's population at this point) that he never even engages in debate anymore at that point. He just shuts down, calls them mean, weaponizes his incompetence to the point that anyone in pursuit of truth is made to look like an aggressor. It's pathetic.

Rebooting Alcatraz and imposing a 100% punitive tariff on any film that wasn't fully produced (and shot?) in the USA are two of the loopiest proposals by Trump so far...even if they are not as far-reaching as some of his other antics. ::)

Alcatraz was indeed practically impossible to escape from in the 1940s and 50s, but it also cost a great deal to operate - and with today's tech (cell phones, drones etc) it would likely be a lot less failsafe than it used to be. Trump is just banking on the popular myth around the place here.

I won’t deny I’m curious how they’d rebuild the rock in a timely manner given the condition it’s in but I’m curious to see the logic behind the movies given the way movie corporations are structured. What is a US movie and not.

Trump's personal familiarity with infamous private islands has deluded him into thinking its a good idea.

What gave you the impression logic was involved at any point in the decision?
