Emilia had come to the small town of Wesson peak, a tiny community of a few hundred souls on the Oregon coast about five years ago. She had not spoken much about her life prior to arriving, and with good reason. It had been hard living with a conservative family, especially after her parents found out about Emilia's first love, Janice.
Emilia had been forced to cut of all ties with Janice, and she was sent to counseling within her parents' church. And so, at 16, she ran away, drifting for weeks until she arrived in Wesson peak. She found lodging with the Baxters, the proprietors of the town's diner. They gave her a place to sleep and a job, while also helping her go to school to finish her education.
Emilia grew close with the Baxters' daughter Cynthia, and soon the two became an item. Though the Baxters were not a fan of this kind of relationship, they did see their daughter and her friend were very happy, and so they accepted it. And though many of the town's residents had reservations, they treated the girls with dignity, and soon they became just another couple.
About a year ago, Cynthia's parents died in a car crash coming back from Portland, leaving Cynthia bereaved, but also the new owner of the diner. Emilia has been helping her  run the business and they were trying to live their life together as best they could, and things have been going quite well recently.
This morning, Cynthia was working in the diner as usual, preparing for the lunch rush, while Emilia went to market for fresh produce. Suddenly she a car outside that was smoking quite a bit more than it should. She walked outside, and then, out of the car came a vision that stunned Cynthia. A tall woman in a black velvet dress with red trim, knee high boots and long wavy hair dyed raven black. The words that came out of the woman's mouth as she angrily gestured at the car shocked Cynthia, but she still took her inside, got her a drink and a piece of pie, before calling Ted, the mechanic to pick up the car.
The two started talking and it turned out that the woman was traveling from Seattle down to Los Angeles for a job, but now she was stuck in Wesson peak with no car, nowhere to stay and nearly no money. Cynthia felt sorry and offered the woman to stay in her guest room until the car was fixed. She wondered what Emilia would think but it was the right thing to do.
As the two chatted Cynthia felt herself drawn to the other woman, and maybe she was imagining it, but she thought this stranger was flirting with her, and Cynthia wasn't exactly stopping her, in fact, she found herself flirting back a little. What would Emilia think. She looked at the woman again, the long wavy hair, the pale skin and dark make up, it was a face right out of some gothic novel, and Cynthia could hardly help herself staring at this enchanting woman, with such a regular name. Janice.....

Good day everyone,

The above is the first scene in what I'm hoping will be a somewhat longer story where this awkward situation will lead to an eventual relationship between these characters.

The smoldering attraction between ' Cynthia' and 'Janice', the awkward reunion between 'Janice' and 'Emilia' leading to some buried feelings resurfacing, and of course the relationship between 'Emilia' and 'Cynthia' having to navigate this newcomer.

Now most of the details, including names and appearances, are of course up to change to suit the writers, as long as the basic dynamics are preserved.

I'd prefer to play the role of either Cynthia or Emilia, as I envision Janice to be a bit more powerful and take charge than I'm comfortable with.

While I'm normally open to write with people of all genders and sexualities, this story has some emotional bearing to me, so I'd prefer the characters to be cis women, and the writers to be femme. I hope people aren't offended by this, but with the subject matter I just feel more comfortable with it.
