Hello there.

I'm currently listening, for the fifth time, to the entire series of Critical Roll's Candella Obscura. I love the combination of magic-punk, Victorian, and eldritch horror.

For the finer details, please look here.

What I'm inspired to do is what I would refere to as a 'Candella Obscura Fan Game' Where we follow the setting, the storyline, the dark beauty of it, but with a few tweaks to make it easier to play in the particular setup I'm wanting. I do not have the time to spend hours in a voice chat trying to play this as a tabletop. I also don't like listening to other people in general, as I am very socially awkward.

So what I am trying to run is a casual game, where the pace is decided by the slowest player in the group [most likely me as I have four kids, four dogs, a full time job and a book to write, oh, and it will be the first time I've ever GMed] We would make our posts in order, telling the story of a secret group of paranormal investigators getting into dangers beyond mortal comprehension.

The main change I want to implement is how the fate of players is decided.

The true game uses what is called the Illuminated Worlds dice system, where a number of d6 are rolled. 1-3 count as a failure, in which a player doesn't achieve the goal they are attempting [attack, persuading, driving a car, etc] and are injured. 4-5 are a mixed success, you achieve your goal but at a cost. 6 is a garrenteed success with no repercussions.

Instead, I wanted to balance how the dice rolls decide.

1-2: Failure

3-4: Mixed success

5-6: Garrenteed success

A player can use Drives to increase the number of dice they roll, but you don't replenish that until you reach a rest period in the story, usually at the end of an investigation.

If dice is too clumsy a concept for a forum collaborative storyline,  I have an alternative. But I'll discuss that later. Right now, I'm wanting to see if anyone would be interested in playing such a game?
