TheBlackThrone

Synopsis: One day in fictional Seattle, Washington, all dogs transformed into humans. This unexplained phenomenon has brought world attention to the city. Tourists are surging to Seattle in an uncanny desire to see if their dogs will change into humans. According to witnesses, it only happened on 1 September 2024.

Inspiration: My Dog Becomes A Human

In the roleplaying game 🐾 Become Human, writers will choose to play dogs that were transformed into humans on 1 September or their owners. Writers can RP strays if a future owner has been identified. Otherwise, I would like all dogs owned to maintain constant interaction and inclusion in the story.

The dog-gone humans (DGH) will be adults in mind and body. Their hair, skin, eyes, and clothing in their human form will mimic their fur length, texture, or color in their dog form. Their behavior is supposed to match the behavior of the dog breed the writer has chosen. So try to choose a breed you know because that is what will make this entertaining. The owners still own the DGH and treat them as their pets because that is all the pets know. However, all DGH are attractive and possess superhuman abilities such as super strength, hearing, and smell. They speak English unless they are imported from another country, in which case you can give them an accent if you want. The dog's origin is up to the writer of the dog, but they must make the background believable for them to be in the possession of the owner character.

Every dog writer will have an owner, but not every owner character will want to make a dog character. If you make an owner character, it is up to you if you would like to make a dog character. All writers who choose to make a dog character must make an owner for another dog character to ensure we have no issues. This RP will be Slice of Life, and I am placing it in Light: Exotic Small Groups. This RP is mostly meant to be wholesome and funny, but it can also be sexual because this is an adult writing site, of course. How you choose to interact with your pet and owner, as well as the pets and owners of other writers, will be up to you. How you go about solving the mystery behind the dog transformations will be up to us to work out.

Character Creation

Rules
1. All dogs will be actual dog breeds and behave as that dog breed would. If you don’t know how a breed behaves, you can watch many YouTube videos about dog breeds, which will easily tell you.
2. There will be no mutts. No mixes unless the mixed breed is considered an actual breed per AKC guidelines.
3. When the dogs transformed into humans, their clothing, hair, and eye color matched the fur, eyes, and any other unique traits of that dog breed, so feel free to describe that in the general description.
4. All dogs speak English unless imported from another country or their owner is foreign and regularly speaks to them in a foreign language.
5. Strays are only allowed if you already have a writer willing to be their owner established.
6. Dogs can be rescues.
7. The dog's size determines whether they will be tall or short in human form. Here is the conversion established for this game:
  • Toy to Small: less than 5’0” to 5’4”.
  • Medium: 5’5”-5’9”
  • Large: 5’10”-6’3”
  • Giant: 6’3”+
8. Dogs will, over time, begin to adapt to their human emotions and intelligence and develop better speaking abilities.
9. Owners can have occupations ranging from college students to grocery workers as long as they work in the same city and have connections to other owners. In this case, dog parks and obedience training courses will be the primary “meet-up” places.
10. Please reserve your face claims. I will allow digital art for dogs and digital to realistic face claims for owners. So please, if you use an actual face claim, make a reservation.
11. Reserve your dog breed and owner face claims (if applicable) before working on character sheets.
12. The dog character sheet does not mention age because all dogs are fully mature adults by default.
13. All dogs gone human are 100% human. No tails or ears.
14. There can be more than one of the same dog breeds.

Roleplay Rules

1. OOC/Discord. Discord will not be mandatory. If we have a mature group of drama-free writers, then I will make a discord group for this RP. In the meantime, PMs or the OOC should be used to discuss character development. You can also use the recruitment thread if the OOC has not been created yet.
2. Activity. I expect at least one post a week. If that seems too much, you may have too much on your plate. The interactions are primarily between owner and pet, so pair yourself with someone who matches your activity level.
3. Communication. If you plan to be absent for a week or more, then please share this information. I do not need to know your business. I just need to know if you plan to return and how I can accommodate you.
4. Contribute. Come here willing to add to the story. This is a sandbox. The GM is mainly dealing with admin issues, but they are just as much of a participant as you are. We will be developing and solving the transformation mystery together. So come with imagination and willingness to contribute, please.
5. Controlling. The other writer may be a DGH, but please don't do anything they are not comfortable with. This goes back to the communication rule. Communicate with each other, and please maintain a respectable roleplaying environment here. All E rules apply.
6. No Drama. I will tolerate zero of it.
7. Owner requirement. If someone started as an owner and later decided they wanted to make a dog, but there are no owners for their DGH, then they will have to wait until one is found. I will bump recruitment in such cases but understand that is always the risk. There are no guarantees to find more owners.
8. Group Scenes. In group scenes like the dog park or training classes, please be mindful of other writers in the same area. Do not act like they do not exist if they would be noticed. Always make an effort to interact.
9. Character Restriction. Try to restrict yourself to 1 dog and 1 owner character. If you try to make multiple dogs, then you will need multiple owners and you as well will need to make more owner character slots.
10. Have fun! Please take this prompt and run with it. It'll only be as fun as you make it.

#1
I'll start us off with my drafts and soon-to-be submissions. I'm reserving a German Shepherd for my DGH and Jay Byars for my owner character. I will be updating this post with WIPs.

Luke

DGH
Full Name: Luke
Nickname(s): Owner will add.
Breed: German Shepherd
Hair Color: Brown
Eye Color: Candy Brown
Height: 6'3"
Weight: 225 lbs
Owner: To be acquired

General Description: As a dog, Luke was a big, fuzzy boy who would get groomed monthly with weekly fur upkeep. As a man, Luke is still big, but his “fuzzy” appearance appears in his shoulder-length hair and full beard. When he transformed, he appeared wearing no undershirt, a brown leather jacket with brown fur lining the inside of it. He wore black jeans, a belt, and brown work boots. His brown hair rests on his shoulders, giving him the appearance of a man in his thirties or forties, but when shaved, he appears late 20s to early thirties. His eyes are reddish-brown and glossy like candies. Luke is tall and muscular and regularly wears an expression like he’s examining everyone.

Personality: Luke is very protective of his owner, and he only tolerates the people his owner allows into their space. While he may smile and be friendly with those acquainted with his owner, he is constantly observing them as though expecting them to make a harmful move any minute. He is very loyal to his owner and obeys their every command, but sometimes, pheromones and his six sense will trigger him to react to a threat without orders. With his owner and those other DGHs he has warmed up to and considered friends, he is playful. He likes being pet, scratched, and to play fetch. He serves with great effort, desiring the “good boy” validation at the end of the day. He is loving and lives only to serve his owner to the best of his ability.

Likes: Tug o war, Fox Bro (stuffed fox with a squeaker), performing tasks, being called a "good boy," chicken (raw or cooked), wrestling with other dogs, pats, scratches, going for walks or hikes, visiting the dog park, and going to training.

Dislikes: Threats, critters, the mailman, being groomed (tolerates it though), his owner giving other DGH attention, and not being employed with a task or duty.

Talents:
  • Tracking
  • Neutralizing threats
  • Performing various tasks
  • High intelligence

Backstory: I would like for him to have been adopted by an experienced breeder when he was a dog. This character can easily fit the role of a partner for any police officer owners or the bodyguard for a single person. Whoever would like to own him, we can mold him to fit your character's story.

Noah Jones

Noah Jones
Full Name: Noah Jones
Nickname(s): None
Age: 32
Hair Color: Brown
Eye Color: Blue
Height: 5'10"
Weight: 185 lbs
Face Claim: Jay Byars
Pet: To be determined
Occupation: Intern Software Developer

General Description: Noah is an average male with a lean figure. He usually wears his glasses to read but sometimes he doesn’t need them. It depends on his eyesight at the time. He typically wears t-shirts, long-sleeved shirts, jeans, and sweatpants. He prefers clothing he can just immediately put on without a thought to go out and forage for food (i.e. grocery shop) or perform other errands necessary for survival. It is only his work clothes that he can be seen dressed either business to business casual in.

Personality: Noah is a closet nerd. Although, as soon as one learns his occupation, they can easily deduce that he is somewhat of a nerd. He likes video games and other popular fiction whether it be superhero or science fiction. He hasn’t developed any collector habits, but he does have a 3D printer in his apartment for selling random figurines and other objects online. Noah is single and hasn’t had much luck attracting a girlfriend. He is often just the “nice guy” and becomes the listener in most situations. He adopted/acquired/or had dumped on him a dog, but the purpose was to not feel so alone.

Likes: Video games, movies, most fiction, getting outside once in a while, new experiences, his DGH, and doing the right thing.

Dislikes: Bullies/shitty people, animal cruelty, his job but he does it to survive, and avocados.

Talents:
  • Software Development
  • Problem solving
  • Multi-tasking
  • Planning

Backstory: Noah was raised in Tacoma, Washington to parents who took very good care of him, but he knew by 18 if he wasn't in college or in a nice, paying job, then they were going to kick him out. Noah went to college for his bachelors in software engineering and landed an internship at a software company that pays him big bucks, but the people who work there are mostly miserable. His boss is an asshole, and if he didn't need the job to survive in Seattle, he would quit. In the last three years, he acquired a dog to add something different to his mundane, lonely life. This backstory can be tweaked whenever we decide who his DGH will be.
