That does help me quite a bit!

@oldedog  For Artisan Tools would the Painters supplies also provided  the necessary tools for drawing?

Do townsfolk require a sheet?  Part of me is tempted to just make an elven smith or something, Blessed of Corellon, and just get some RP in rather than worrying about all the rules in this Lust Handbook.

Yes, I believe the actual description contains a statement about painting or drawing.

Townsfolk have a much more limited sheet since they are noncombatants, it will also be listed in the recruitment thread. Mostly it's just a name, position in the town, a set of stats plus a few skills in case rolls are needed, and a few other minor things. I am still refining exactly what info is needed to call a townsfolk sheet complete and ready for approval.

Also remember the Lewd Handbook stuff is entirely optional and you can make a character with just the official DND books.

Quote from: oldedog on July 26, 2024, 06:39:32 AMPoint buy, I'll have all the rules for character creation in the recruitment thread but feel free to ask any questions here if you want to get a jump on things.

I've also got the rules for makes a member of the town as well if anyone is interested in that at the moment.
I know you said you're allowing any of the official books but just to make sure, are we allowed to use the floating ability scores from TCOE?

What if for quest purposes we intended to make more than three townsfolk?

My intention was to have a local witch with a collection of apprentices who would often get into trouble and need helping (creating a consistent framework for quests).
What a thrill...with silence and darkness through the night....

The Old Wolf

ok thinking rather then shapeshifter a wizard and his familiar since we can have more than a single character

RattledSnake

I think one of my characters is going to be a Centaur Fighter, using the Dominator subclass from the lewd handbook, while the other is some sort of spellcaster. I think the caster is a professional dominatrix/slave breaker, and the fighter is her besotted bodyguard and assistant.

I forgot about that, unfortunately floating abilities scores will not be allowed.

Three characters you intend to play is the limit right now. If you wish to run quests, however, you can generate other NPC apprentices for quest purposes.

Think of the difference like this; your characters are intended for long term, recurring appearances while anyone you generate for a quest is meant to fade into the background or leave town once the quest is done. So you could make the witch to actually play as and use the character as a quest giver with a rotating roster of apprentices which would not count towards your total number of characters.

Yes, custom lineage is allowed. Please check that the fear it grants is okay to take but otherwise go for it.

@oldedog  So there is an updated version of the lewd hand book where would I  find the link?

oldedog

@Marie Reynolds I'll PM you a link but I'll also include it in the recruitment thread.

I have an idea for townsfolk, albeit it's technically three chars but there is a joke behind the idea. It's three bartenders, who work in three shifts in a bar/tavern. The catch is that; one of them is an orc, the second is a half-orc, third one is a human. So orc works in the morning shift, half-orc in the afternoon shift, and human in the late night shift.

The joke continues that all three are related by blood and look very similar to each other in facial features and body build, minus the varied orcish traits or absence of them with the human.

Also all three share the same first name (but if asked, their second names are different but their last names are the same, so only friends/family address them by their second names to avoid confusion).

Naturally, they tell any major developments or client details to each other so they know the same facts and info, and they purposefully run things this way as their own personal joke to confuse anyone who does not know them (as long as it lasts and they get laugh out of it as somebody asks why come orc they met an hour ago is now a half-orc).

Captain Whitebread

Townsfolk NPC - a barber/surgeon. He’s recently widowed.  He also brews potions of various sorts. No, his shop is not above a meat pie shop.

Will come up with a second NPC eventually

Glad to see that we have a good mix of people wanting to play both adventurers and townsfolk. I'm almost happy with the recruitment thread, so hopefully will have it finished in the near future. Once my co-mod looks it over to make sure I haven't missed anything it'll get posted.

Given the amount of interest and the ideas people have been throwing around, we might get a large group board approved super fast.

Gotta have a Peeping Tom. Just need to know what he does for a living. Open to suggestions.

I’m going gnomish gourmand / chef!

When it comes to a peeper’s profession… garment maker? Banker/accountant? Town crier? Creepy courier that goes through people’s mail?

I think the garment maker is a great profession for peeping tom.

Also I'm planning to make a Tavern Owner/Brothel Madame so if anyone has a character that would work in such a environment but doesn't want to make a whole tavern or similar to employee their character, let me know. A tavern/brothel needs all kinds of staff on site.
