1665: The Great Plague is not the only deadly disease plaguing humanity.

1666: Hundreds of thousands dead from a mystery plague, quite unlike that which will go down in history. Those dead and those who survived this second plague will not, however, be remembered by Human history.

1667: A case of suspected "vampirism" recorded in a local paper. Quickly forgotten about.

1670: "Vampires" on the rise across the globe. Children born to survivors of mystery disease behaving strangely, reported biting people and drawing blood.

1677: Widespread violence and conflict between unaffected humans and "Vampire" youth, causing something akin to a witch hunt. Suspected "Vampires" burnt at the stake, drowned, tortured to death and, if preserved, their bodies are cut up for research purposes.

1700: The "Vampire Panic" has died down. Thousands of "Vampires" along with some of their relatives have died across the last few decades, along with dozens of civilians suspected to have been attacked by vampires.

1800: No one remembers the Vampire Panic, records are sparse. If there are any "Vampires", they have moved underground.

2050: A great war breaks out, unlike anything the world has seen before - billions of humans die.

And this is where one History - a human history - ends.

From its ashes, a new era is a born.

One of beings nigh immortal, largely invulnerable to many of the diseases that caused humanity much suffering. One lead by beings obsessed with and craving blood. Beings gifted, as if by Gods.

The Vampire Dynasty.

0 VD: A swift take over by those presumed wiped out centuries ago leaves humans - all humans, regardless of race, orientation, or gender - second class citizens. What records of human history remain are - mostly - erased.

50 VD: Practices of blood slavery have become common place.

200 VD: Kingdoms are back in vogue, lead by Vampire Royalty, supported by vampire nobility. Loathed but resigned to by the human peasant class.

500 VD: Mutants appear. Called "Gifted", some, rare humans are being born with an ability thought impossible for humans: magic. They are highly sought after on the human blood market, often kept as blood servants/pets by Vampires.

600 VD: Spreading acts of rebellions by humans are being punished by public executions and torture. The "Gifted" are especially quick to be captured, and, if not willing to be subservient, killed without regards to their age or gender.

1000 VD: Small underground rebel groups are forming all over the world, largely made up out of regular humans and those of the Gifted that managed to somehow escape getting found out by vampires. Anyone caught is made an example of.

To be sure, magic is highly dependent on ones emotions. The better control one has over them, the better control one is likely to have over one's own magic. The thing that rats most youth out with regards to their magic, is the accidental, and often emotion-related incident involving a sudden burst of magic, or an act/even that could've only been caused by magic.

Said youth often get torn from their childhood and raised by vampires - brainwashed into complete servitude.

Vampires seek "Gifted Blood" as it can empower them too. Moreover, it has alluring properties, which may sing to an individual vampire, or even a group of vampires with the same preferences. Vampires may similarly be attracted to specific blood types - A, B, O, etc. -, or simply be attracted to a specific non-Gifted human individual.

While most often it is a case of grabbing a human and either killing them after one drink, or turning them into one's personal slave, there is an organisation that sells particularly valuable-seeming humans at Human Auctions.

1024 VD - A new vampire Queen is crowned ruler of the Sanguinea after decades of war, and the defeat of the last ruling house, with the death of their King, Augustus III.

1026 VD - Our story begins here, in the kingdom of Sanguinea.

Vampires

Vampire Queen - REQUIRED (also requires auditioning and some ideas beforehand. I'm getting picky with this one, since she's, you know, a person of great influence. And also someone I'm considering maybe pairing my gifted human character with.) She should be 30+ and a pure-blooded vampire.

Vampire Royalty - Sanguinea only. Whoever plays vampire queen can decide on whether or not the Vampire Queen has family and how many, but no more than 5 more royals, including mothers, sisters, brothers, children.

Vampire Nobility - Feel free to differentiate between the nobles with titles like duke, marquis, baron, etc. Unlimited.

Vampire Commonfolk - Generally mix-blooded vampires, illegitimate children, and impoverished vampires. Unlimited.

Humans

Gifted Humans - Max of 5. At least two should be women, two men, one can be any gender. (1 male is already taken.) Some of these can be captured rebels, some of these blood slaves, a couple might be uncaptured so far.

Regular Humans - Unlimited.

I have a World Building Thread posted. You should read at least the first few posts to assist with putting together characters.
There is an absolute maximum for this roleplay of 10 people (including myself). Ideally 6 - but I'm willing to extend opportunities to join for versatile players to join even after six players (inc. myself) have already joined. 4 is the minimum number I'm looking for.
First, request to join with the main character(s) you'll be playing (a format for that exists below). If your request is accepted, you then post the profile. If that is accepted, you've now reserved that role and are able to add the character to the roleplay.

Because I know some people refuse to play dominant characters... I will limit submissive characters. Unless you also play a dominant, you can only have one submissive character (after which you can have more submissives), if you wish for two, you have to play a switch (a 50/50, not leaning towards submissive) or someone who doesn't at all participate in these dynamics.
If I have too many people asking solely for submissive roles - especially among those willing to play women - I'll be rejecting some of their requests. And sure, this isn't solely a romance/sexual roleplay, but there is a chance it will feature.
Royal characters - one per person only.
There is no upper limit for how many characters you can play if you play a wide range of characters and if you're able to keep track of all said characters. (I wouldn't recommend more than four main characters, though.)
There is a limit on how many powerful/gifted character you can play:
1 Gifted human per player.
1-2 More powerful vampire per player. (depends on how varied your characters are. If less, 1 is the maximum. If more, 2 is the max.)
Only ONE (1) vampire which belongs to the 0.01%, of which there can only be a total of 3. (And I'm taking one, so it's actually two.)
I'm more likely to allow you a more gifted character if you have some common/less gifted characters, preferably of varying genders and D/S alignments.
No photos/face-claims/real people allowed. Only realistic or semi-realistic drawings/paintings/cartoon/anime art. (No CalArts or One Piece style art though. Think more... Genshin Impact, Violet Evergarden, Disney, etc.) If you don't wish to use pictures, you can otherwise just use descriptions.
While violence is allowed and to be expected, you are not allowed to God mod, metagame, control characters other people are playing or kill another person's character without their permission.
Ideally, in the very least double -- because should have an equal-ish number of characters, and preferably enough different characters for a variety of pairings. But you don't have to indulge in the sexual/romantic side of the roleplay.
No instant romance. Especially between vampire-human. I can understand instant physical attraction, but not love.
Since I'll be watching over and participating in the roleplay, please: no scat, no vore, no paedophilia (unless we're talking past mentions of abuse), no necrophilia and no beastiality. Plus, some of these are against site rules.
Cussing is allowed. NSFW and Dark themes allowed - but contain explicit depictions in spoilers, please.

Build:
Somewhat muscular due to working, walking and fighting frequently enough, but not much, as she doesn't have a particularly extreme work out routine. Doesn't have much luxury in terms of food or a lack of exercise and so isn't too curvy, but does possess some curves.

Brown, long, usually tied up, sometimes under a wig, which is typically black.

Personality overview:
First few words that come mind with Flora are ones such as "headstrong", "stubborn" and "a bit on the reckless side". Her second class citizen status did little to knock out her fighting spirit or her will, and she refuses to submit to anyone. Even at the expense of putting herself in danger. She would rather not endanger her mother, however, and so does try to be careful -- with varying degrees of success. She has a sharp tongue that she struggles to hold, but knows better than to simply speak out every occasion. After all, she's had plenty of experiences with other people to know just how dangerous other people can be.

She loathes her situation - the chaos and the scrummy surroundings. Ambitious, she hopes that one day she can take down the vampires and is willing to put in the work in order to get things done. She doesn't believe in things being handed to her, or in any sort of spirits or deities. Very grounded, cynical and realistic in that sense - but not too pessimistic, not so much so that she would rather be complacent. There is too much anger, too much energy there to stop her from fighting in any way she can.

That said, she's not the most patient. She also doesn't like bowing her head or taking orders in the meantime. She seeks what control and what revenge she can get in the meantime, which oftentimes sometimes manifests itself in her sexual preferences as well.

She can assert herself and speak her mind - sometimes to the point of getting into fights over it. Knowing how unfair it is, she's not unwilling to fight dirty - to hit below the belt (sometimes literally), to threaten and to be resourceful. If there is something to be used against someone in order to gain their cooperation or their confidentiality, she will use that. Morality is an incredibly subjective thing to her - if she thinks it's for the betterment of her situation or that of someone she cares for, it's good. Otherwise it's either neither, or bad. So lying here and there, guilting someone, stealing from someone, or threatening to snitch on her? If it's for her sake or someone she cares for sake, it's a perfectly alright thing to do.

She knows someone else won't appreciate it and think it wrong, but that's the thing: they think it's wrong. To them. And she has no doubt someone would be willing to wrong her for their own gain, so... fair's fair.

She does have a softer and more compassionate side when it comes to people she cares for - which seems to become increasingly fewer with each passing year and each passing death or disappearance.

Lighter weight class and lower upper-body strength do limit her in hand-to-hand combat.
Doesn't currently have access to many projectile weapons, explosives or even bladed weapons, so beyond kitchen knives she's inexperienced and unskilled in wielding standard weapons.

Biography:
Flora was one of four children born to the Draper family. However, after one died in early childhood, another was forced to be given up to vampires after being discovered that they were gifted - she hasn't heard from or seen them since -, and the other died from a vampire attack (largely unprovoked, though the attacker still insisted her sibling provoked him), she was basically left an only child.

Childhood was rough. Her mother and father worked hard but made little money, and her father had a tendency to drink in times of stress, which would reduce the already small sum of money they had for themselves. He also expected a lot from his children - always work, work work, and then marrying off to someone and having children of their own.

The church he was a part of - Flora refused to consider herself a Christian, but her father did, clinging onto what last vestiges remained of a past ruled by humans - had some very... traditional... views on womanhood. Her mother was also a part of it, probably in desperate search of comfort. She would claim that if they lived a good life despite the awful circumstances and being surrounded by "monsters", they'd one day go to heaven and their suffering would be rewarded. But Flora couldn't see it that way, especially after her siblings started getting taken away one by one. It didn't seem like a loving God would ever stand by and let all of it happen. So she refused Him.

Instead, she turned towards finding some way out of the system. A real way out.

Especially after her father's drinking started getting worse - after she was the only child he had left -, and he started becoming verbally and emotionally abusive when he drank. Sometimes, it'd even get physical.

She would avoid being home during those times, and would go around town when she herself wasn't working along with her mother. There she would look for nooks and crannies, places hidden from the view of vampires, places ignored by vampires. Many times those places would be dark and dangerous, but it only drove her to explore them further. It was then that she came upon a rebel group - her first real hope for change. They were an angry bunch, largely lead by men, and most of the time she'd butt heads with them. But for all their mutual loathing, they were all skilled people, who wanted freedom from the vampires and weren't going to sit around just praying for change.

Besides, their constant egging her on turned her into a fighter for her own views and convictions - both verbally and physically -, and pushed her to prove them wrong. It was easier than trying to prove one's parent wrong, in her mind.

She would cement her position as one of them by stealing supplies for them from the vampires.

Sexual | Romantic Preference(s):
Bisexual, Dominant. Is into a wide-range of kinks - though has a preference for disciplinary and control related kinks, as opposed to sadomasochistic ones - and has a decent amount of sexual experience, though pretty much exclusively with humans. She hasn't had any long-term relationships thus far - most of her experience revolved basically around a friends-with-benefits type situation, except they were more like comrades, and less like friends -, but is open to a relationship with someone who will respect her. Might also be into a poly situation. Might find a more gentler, softer side to her dominance later, if paired with someone she'd want a romantic relationship with.

She tends to hide her sexuality from her parents and, really, most people. Not only would bisexuality be frowned upon in her family, but her casualness with sex would go against her family's church doctrine and, if men thought she were "easy"... it would be troublesome for her. So she only has sex with those that can keep their mouth shut - rebels -, and is willing to threaten with snitching on the whole rebel group if they try dragging her reputation through the muck.

Somewhere between light and tan, no freckles. A beauty mark under their left eye, and a heart shaped birthmark on their right calf.

Attire/Accessories:
Dresses in breeches, socks, dress shoes (with an approx. 1-inch heel), jacket with coat tails, shirt and cravat, usually in their favourite colours. Tends to be topped off with canes, gloves and top hats. And yeah, they wear glasses, but they have a narrower cut (iyk what I mean), and the glass is framed by rose-gold metal.


Personality overview:
Domani is outgoing, extroverted, playful. They can strike as almost childish - never taking anything too seriously and trying to find the fun in things. They can be serious too, but prefer not to be. Attention-seeking and flirtatious, Domani is not necessarily one to commit or stick to one or two friends, or partners, but rather likes to share their love for as many people as possible. They are easily bored, but also easily amused, jumping from activity to activity and person to person. By no means would they betray anyone or cheat anyone... although they do have a tendency to get somewhat flaky.

They are friendly. Rarely capable of being meanspirited, but also with a propensity to be some naive and possible even gullible. In their openness, they leave themselves vulnerable. And sometimes overshare. They're not good with secrets, being a blabbermouth and gossip, but they do try. They're certainly willing to.

There is an obnoxious side to them, especially with their talkative and active nature that can sometimes come off a little pushy as they try to drag people into things. Often fun things, but even so. They are lighthearted and optimistic, to the point where it might annoy/frustrate people, but they can also be very comforting/reassuring in this way. It really depends on who they interact with.

With regards to vampires they can be very open-minded, but, unfortunately... not so much with the humans. If they have a snide, nastier side, it's generally only shown to the humans. Then they can be dramatic, haughty and vain, as well as distrustful and prejudiced against the whole lot for the actions of only a portion of them. They have a lot to learn, being biased, sheltered - in some ways - and learned only really in history from the point of view of the vampires, they aren't so aware of nuances. They're not completely sheltered or gullible though: they know that vampires can kill other vampires and do. But they don't know the extent to which vampires and humans are really just two halves of the same violent coin. Maybe they subconsciously don't even want to know.

They tend to not be the most responsible or sensible of vampires. However, they do strive to keep the people they care for happy.

Biography:
Domani grew up an only child. Conceiving even just Domani put a great stress on the Lanzas and before him, Bianca suffered a lot of miscarriages. So they were glad to finally have a child, in the very least. And a healthy one. Trouble was, Domani was born... less gifted, and that revealed itself in more ways than just physically. Additionally, they just didn't seem as gifted in academia as their peers were. They weren't daft by any means, but things didn't seem to come to them so quickly, their handwriting was a mess, their reading was slow, and they struck as scatter-brained. When they were in their element, they could do really well, but whenever they weren't - which was unfortunately often -, they struggled.

That said, they were good at history and had a fondness for it -- though they deeply feared and resented the part of history ruled by humans. As far as they knew, humans were monsters, which rendered them hateful of that race. Because of this too, certain things associated with humans - especially religion, as it never once seemed to help that vampires and generally religious figures would outright condemn them - religious symbols ended up becoming a big source of discomfort and fear, as they reminded Domani of the past their ancestors had gone through. The sort of punishments and torment they suffered also wound up ingrained in Domani's psyche, leading to some of their fears.

The Lanzas did their best to hide this and move on with this, hoping Domani would simply improve some day and surprise them all. In the meantime, conflict grew within their country, and they were forced to pick a side. It didn't help that Domani was no combatant and so they tried to keep them away from it all. Ultimately though, their father wound up dying, along with several of their friends.

Instead, Domani became a flirt, a partyer, someone who decided to take the casual road, if the serious one was only going to cause pain and stress. If they couldn't be powerful or skilled, then they would become the life of the party, the person people wanted to talk to. Whether or not they were successful with this is debatable.

Biography:
Wren's biological mother died when he was young. As a product of an affair, he was born a bastard child, and largely ignored by his father, until he turned eight. When he did finally go to live with his father, life managed to somehow got worse. For the already sickly, weak, impoverished and motherless child, only abuse - of just about any kind - awaited him. His stepmother made it no easier. Having lost her own son recently, she loathed this "replacement child", and took it out on him as opposed to her cheating husband, as she believed him when he said that the other woman "bewitched him" (nonsense, of course). He was turned into a near-perfect servant - meek, obedient and deeply fearful of authorities, fawning for their acceptance - and then sold off to the vampires to clear his father's growing debt by the time he was ten. Shortly thereafter he'd heard his father died, but it didn't matter much.

With the Vampires he was alternatively exploited and abused, as well as taught beyond what his father and stepmother taught him. To entertain, and to be, beyond just a servant, something of a secretary, physician and caretaker all on one. Noting his magic, they'd made a point of forcing him to exert himself every day if he had not yet been exerted enough on healing animals they'd purposefully hurt in front of him to force as much willpower and desire to healing as possible from him, in order to make sure he'd be pushing himself. If he failed, many times they'd die from the injuries sustained. It worked, of course.

He did once break free - temporarily - with the help of a friend he'd managed to make, a commoner vampire sick and tired of it, who'd managed to see him as almost like a brother despite being two different races. Unfortunately, they got caught. His vampire friend was executed on the spot, and beyond that, Wren had no will to fight back. Not after seeing all the blood and the gore. The life leaving his friend's eyes. The only friend he'd ever had. Wren lived - if only because as a gifted blood servant and a healer who posed no threat alone, he was seen as still useful enough.

And now, most recently, he found himself at a blood auction yet again, after his last master died. He knew, of course that his clock was ticking away and with each year his price - his value - would go down, and could only wonder when he'd become unsellable. When he'd been worthless, and better off getting killed off... but also didn't - doesn't care all that much. (So he tries to tell himself.)

Personality overview:
Kozmotis is... reserved. About himself he tends to say very little. About other people? He has plenty to say, if he feels like it. Information is his game, and he loves to gather information on all kinds of things to use to his advantage. To him, knowledge is power. He is very careful with that knowledge too, not simply trusting anything or anyone. His paranoia tends to make relationships, communication and working with others very difficult, but it also makes it hard to get close to him or even genuinely like him. Typically, he will keep people at a distance from himself, always aloof, always watching, listening. He's cynical and pessimistic, not having much faith in anyone humanoid. People will betray him, he knows. Only his darling companions won't.

He can be stubborn and prideful. He doesn't wish to appear weak, or vulnerable or ever be taken advantage of. You don't even need power to take advantage of a person - and he's very aware of that too. He's aware of the power words hold, the power emotions hold. The power love in particular has. To attach oneself to someone so intimately can surely only bring pain and suffering in the end. He refuses to be so vulnerable. So he avoids it, at all costs.

People have not looked upon kindly on him - certainly not respected him. Gossip has come in all kinds of forms - now fearful, but back in the day, it could be incredibly vile and vicious. So instead he makes his own cases and has pride in himself, where no one else would, and that can make him come off as arrogant. That said, he takes pride in his work, and will work however long it takes on something to get where he wants. His ambition isn't necessarily directed towards a crown or a throne, but rather to keep a good, comfortable life with the companions he shares it with, and to protect those he holds dear. To that end, he will do absolutely anything.

Kozmotis is a vindictive creature. Cross him, hurt him, or hurt anyone he cares about, and there is almost nothing he wouldn't be willing to do to make your life one of eternal suffering. Suffering so great you will beg him to free you of it. He'll use almost any form of torment and any method of tracking you down, hunting you down and snatching you up into your own personal hell... There's no real escape, because Kozmotis isn't one for forgetting past grievances. The best you can do besides that is beg for forgiveness. Or hope for a swift end.

Mostly, this creature of darkness keeps to himself. He's an introvert, preferring quiet places. He doesn't inherently mind when people are around him if they're quiet and he finds them comfortable to be around... but he normally doesn't feel comfortable around people, besides his companions.

He's a sensitive person - both in terms of his temperamental, snappish side (verbally though, he doesn't typically snap physically), but also the more emotional side. When it comes to his softer side, he does try to control and hide it as often as possible - which leaves him quite numb -, but sometimes he'll show it to his companions, through treats, or acts of services, nicknames or gentle touches. He's very protective of them, and would give them the cosmos if it meant keeping them happy. That said, he does so very privately and would never willingly show his affections in public.

He's also quite dramatic. And a tad bit vain.
