Wrestling has always been about stories, but somtimes the stories outside of the ring are just as interesting as the ones inside of it.

Welcome to Rivertown: Where Legends Clash and Rivalries Ignite. Step into Rivertown: A Wrestling Mecca

Nestled within the heart of the Midwest, Rivertown beckons you with its historic charm and vibrant energy. This city, where the past and future intermingle, has become a hub for wrestling enthusiasts seeking a unique blend of classic values and cutting-edge entertainment. Rivertown is the home of two independent wrestling promotions, that history and rivalry has grabbed the hearts of the locals. The Supreme Slam Alliance, guardians of the tradition of wrestling and Rising Fury Wrestling the Pioneers of Innovation. You can't walk around Rivertown bars, schools or hairdressers without one of SSA or RFW being spoken about.

Supreme Slam Alliance (SSA):
Founded in the 1980s, SSA has its roots entrenched in the rich traditions of wrestling. Led by the revered Alexander "Axe" Andrews, this promotion has stood as a bastion of honor, integrity, and classic wrestling values. The legacy of SSA is one of technical prowess, respect for opponents, and an unyielding dedication to the art of wrestling. Through the decades, the roster has seen both seasoned veterans and emerging talents carrying the torch forward, building a heritage that stands as a testament to the essence of wrestling itself.

Rising Fury Wrestling (RFW):
In the same era, Rising Fury Wrestling emerged as a whirlwind of change and innovation. Founded by Scarlet Morgan, RFW was driven by a vision to revolutionize the wrestling landscape. With daring storylines, edgy characters, and electrifying matches, RFW pushed the boundaries of what wrestling could be. The promotion became a haven for those seeking the unorthodox, the unexpected, and the unforgettable. Through twists and turns, RFW's roster evolved to embrace the new millennium's spirit, consistently delivering a blend of athleticism, theatrics, and spectacle.

The Unending Rivalry:
Yet, with each promotion's rise, a rivalry unlike any other ignited. SSA's unshakable belief in tradition clashed head-on with RFW's hunger for redefinition. This rivalry, fueled by betrayals, misunderstandings, and a desire for supremacy, has become the very foundation upon which both promotions stand. Co-run events mandated by contractual obligations only serve to amplify the bitter tension, providing an annual battleground where emotions run high and rivalries simmer to the surface.

Welcome, and thank you for your interest!

This game is meant to be a sandbox game where you can delve into the complexities of characters of your creation in Rivertown, a hot bed of independent wrestling and rivalries between the SSA and the RFW. The game is set up to be similar to the TV Show heels if you want a feel for what we are going for. To begin with there will be three main areas, but this can of course grow to more.

The Arenas of Passion: SSA and RFW

First, let's venture into the heart of the wrestling world. Two distinct realms, each with its own aura, energy, and purpose: the Supreme Slam Alliance (SSA) and Rising Fury Wrestling (RFW) arenas. Step into the hallowed halls where the roars of the crowd blend with the anticipation of the competitors.

For SSA, tradition and honor echo in every corner. The arena exudes a sense of classic wrestling values, with banners of wrestling legends adorning the walls and an air of respect that permeates the atmosphere. Meetings and trainings are held with a backdrop of nostalgia, as the promotion's legends continue to inspire new generations of wrestlers. The locker rooms hum with camaraderie, forging bonds that transcend rivalry.

In the RFW arena, innovation takes center stage. The space pulses with a dynamic energy, where walls are adorned with larger-than-life posters and screens displaying the latest high-octane moments. Meetings crackle with ambition, where storytellers and performers collaborate to push boundaries. The locker rooms vibrate with anticipation, embodying a spirit of audaciousness that defies conventions.

Rivertown: A Tapestry of Reality and Fantasy

But our story doesn't end within the arena walls. Rivertown itself becomes a character, a living canvas that reflects both the gritty drama of wrestling. Much like the show "Heels," where wrestling intertwines with personal struggles, our sandbox game embraces the stories both in and outside the ring.

As you navigate Rivertown's streets, you'll sense the pulse of the city's wrestling culture, where fans gather in sports bars, heated debates ignite, and alliances form. The city's atmosphere mirrors the tension between SSA and RFW, offering endless opportunities for your characters to weave their narratives in this dynamic setting.

Your Canvas, Your Stories

Rivertown, the arenas, the meetings, the trainings, and the locker rooms are your stages. Create characters that grapple with more than just opponents, crafting stories that span beyond the ring ropes. Collaborate, clash, and collaborate again – the choices are yours, and the possibilities are as vast as your imagination.

Just as wrestlers build their legacies through sweat, passion, and determination, you too will shape the world with your words, plots, and character arcs. Welcome to a sandbox that celebrates the art of storytelling, where the lines between reality and fantasy blur, and the ultimate champion is the narrative you create. It's time to step into the spotlight, embrace your inner storyteller, and let the saga unfold.

Rating and Content

As you delve into the heart of this dynamic world, we invite you to explore its diverse corners while upholding certain guidelines that foster a safe and immersive environment for all. Rivertown thrives on the melding of reality and fantasy, a place where wrestling's roar meets personal struggles, and where legends are shaped both in and outside the arena. Within this city's borders, you'll encounter themes of intense competition, passionate rivalries, and darker elements. While our world embraces intensity, there are certain themes that have no place in Rivertown's narrative. We unequivocally prohibit any content involving abuse of minors (all sexually themed content must be between adults 21 years and older) and non-consensual acts. These themes do not align with the spirit of the city and the stories we aim to tell. If you wish to explore such themes, we ask that you do so outside of this space. The game is also an all inclusive enviroment and we welcome all players who are free to play whatever sexuality they desire. For any narratives or plotlines involving sensitive themes outside of the above, we encourage you to engage in a discussion with the person you are writing with. Posts containing potentially triggering content should be marked with a Warning tag in the post header to ensure everyone's comfort. Our goal is to create an environment where all players feel respected and comfortable while crafting their stories.

I'll plant an interest flag. Maybe as a babyface in the SSA, or maybe if someone wanted to collaborate as one half of an intergender tag team in the RFW.
Thank you, fellow Elliquiyan, and have a wonderful day.

The History

In the early 1980s, the wrestling scene in Rivertown was dominated by a single promotion known as Supreme Slam Alliance (SSA). It was a well-established entity with a loyal fan base and a stranglehold on the local market. It had been renamed in the 1970's from Rivertown Wrestling Federation, and was the go to place for wrestling in the area. Owned by Victor Sterling, Victor was a prominent figure in Rivertown and had connections with the city council.

In the late 1980's Rising Fury Wrestling (RFW) emerged as a newcomer in the late 1980s, aiming to challenge SSA's dominance. The charasmatic and ambitious millionaire owner of RFW, Jonathan Whitaker, launched an aggressive marketing campaign; targeting SSA's fans and poaching some of their talented wrestlers. SSA's owner, Victor Sterling, saw RFW's arrival as a direct threat to his promotion's legacy. He responded by accusing Jonathan Whitaker of being a money-hungry opportunist and denounced RFW's approach as disrespectful to the tradition of wrestling in Rivertown. There were rumours he took this threat so seriously, he tried to stop RFW getting the right legal documents in place with the Rivertown Council but these attempts failed.

The rivalry was ignited between the two promotions, with wrestlers and fans taking sides. The rivalry quickly escalated to personal animosity between Victor Sterling and Jonathan Whitaker. Jonathan Whitaker even attempted to run shows on the same day but that was soon stopped as it ended up just hurting both sides of the rivalry. Either way the animosity was clear between the two as fiery exchanges occured in interviews and public events.

Throught the 1990s, SSA and RFW competed fiercely for attendance to their events and sponsorships. Each promotion tried to outdo the other with innovative storyliens and compelling characters. In the mid-1990s, a high-profile wrestler named Michael "The Phoenix" Thompson was a major star in SSA. Unexpectedly, he defected to RFW at the end of his contract, claiming that he was stifled creatively in SSA. This betrayal was a huge shock as until this point only lower card talent had moved between the promotions. This betrayal shocked SSA fans and the company alike. Victor Sterling accused Jonathan Whitaker of orchestrating Michael Thompson's defection, citing behind-the-scenes manipulation and tapping Michael Thompson whilst he was still under SSA contract. Whitaker denied the allegations but Victor Sterling still had the council investigate the matter, causing Whitaker as much of a headache as he possibly could.

In the 2000s, SSA and RFW both garnered the interest of a new television station TStar, who as a Rivertown station aimed at the highly profitable demographics for advertisers, wanted a weekly television show to bring in the audiences in the area. RFW secured the lucrative deal angering the SSA, which believed their seniority and bigger attendance figures at the time should have guarenteed them the offer. SSA accused RFW of undercutting their negotiations by offering the network a lower price, leading to tensions boiling over in a public dispute. A claim was made that RFW owner Whitaker even paid the station a large sum of money to take them on instead of SSA. The Rivertown Council and parent company of TStar stepped in and eventually both promotions would get their own TV slot on TStar, with SSA and RFW being forced to host an annual cross promotion card in August each year. The whole debacle saw escalating hostilities as RFW even used the battle over TV rights as storyline for their shows. This caused SSA to respond in kind, as Fans and Wrestlers became embroiled in the feud, with online debates amplifying the rivalry and getting tape collectors interest all over the world.

In the early 2010s with both companies now on TStar, two legendary wrestlers, John "The Titan" Anderson (SSA) and Marcus "The Mauler" Ramirez (RFW), both reached the twilights of their careers. With both their contracts up at the same time, tensions reached a peak when both wrestlers signed with SSA for a combined farewell event. RFW accused RFW of orchestrating a coporate smear campaign which had seen false allegations made against the company that had been proven false in court, to undermine their offer and tarnish the reputation of their company and stars. Behind the scenes, coporate sabotage allegations and leaked documents further eroded the relationship between the two promotions. Wrestlers from each side engaged in social media wars, stoking the flames of the rivarly.

Which brings us to the present. Despite the mandatory co-run event due to their television deals, SSA and RFW's relationship remains bitter. EAch year's joint show is rife with backstage tension and unspoken grudges, even as wrestlers from both sides attempt to maintain professionalism for the fans. Now generations of wrestlers in both promotions have grown up in the shadow of the rivalry. Tales of past betrayals and clashes have become part of wrestling lore, fueling a cycle of resentment and rivalry that show no signs of abating.

The current owners of SSA and RFW, the children of Whitaker and Sterling, while not as openly vocal as their predecessors, uphold the tradition of animosity.

I am quite interested, both as a wrestler, (Definitely not against a potential intergender Tag in RFW) I'll reach out to Cold

and if it takes off, I'd love to plant a flag as an early interest in taking part as an announcer additionally. No federation can survive without someone to keep the interest of the fans and viewing audience or distract them from unwanted content. Announcers are the lifeblood of a league.

Are we looking to stick to wrestler face claims for ease of ref or...?

Hey MightyMaiden,

Just want to thank you for your interest first of all. Excited to hear about you thinking of other rolls as well. I agree that we want it to take off a bit before we fill out rolls like announcer, backstage interviewer, physios and producers and the like.

As for face claims, I think wrestler face claims will be good but I'm not going to restrict anyone to doing so. If you have a face claim you really want that isn't a wrestler then please go ahead.

MightyMaiden

Honestly, I'm torn between a petite powerhouse like Alexa Bliss, or a fitness hotty like MissBriSolo, both definitely have their advantages...

I love myself some Alexa Bliss. And thank you for introducing me to MissBriSolo.

MightyMaiden

Bri is a true delight, no question.
But since I'm here early (and since I know cold likes shorter characters that can "climb him like a tree" if we do go that way as a tag team)

I'll put my name in for Ms Bliss in the RFW, and start noodling about with the character sheet.

TreyWalker

Face Claim reserved.

And I'm sure Cold's characters won't be the only ones that would like YC to climb them like a tree

Foxy DeVille

Cold Heritage

I like short, but I also like tall. My characters wouldn't kick someone like Stacy Keibler out of bed for eating crackers, or if there was an amazon muscle mommy who wanted to knock boots.

I don't have much in mind for a character concept or a face to reserve as of yet. I was thinking of a giant/power style wrestler. Maybe sort of like Kane's style/moveset.
Thank you, fellow Elliquiyan, and have a wonderful day.

OK totally have my character ready, just doing some backstage chatter with Cold Heritage re: tag team ideas.

I figured I'd hold off till we had enough interest?

Personality & Background:Born in farm country and raised right alongside the four-legged animals, she wasn't afraid to get dirty or dig in and get the work done. After leaving the farm for school, she continued that work-hard attitude and added a bit of play-hard as well. While gaining a degree in Sports and Fitness Management, she worked hard to maintain and improve on her former fitness levels and refused to let anyone judge her capabilities, by her diminutive size.  She applied for a job in management at the SSA, but was denied, instead being welcomed as a competitor in the RFW. She now goes out of her way to make sure those SSA bastards know how badly they lost out passing on her. While she's confident and capable, her fitness levels speaking for themselves, she's not afraid to use her sexuality either, considering it simply another weapon in her war. Happy to use WHATEVER it takes to come out on top. She might be a heel, but she's not gonna let it define her. Her lattes, leggings, and uggs.. those, those will define her.

Kai "Bad Boy" Malo

Gender Identity: Male
Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual
Promotion: RFW
Role/Position/Job: Professional Wrestler - Heel
Gimmick: The Samoan Guerrila
Hails From: Apia, Samoa
Entrance Music: "Guerrillas of Destiny - G.O.D."
Entrance & Ring Attire: Kai enters wearing various masks that reflect his Samoan heritage and enigmatic persona. He removes the masks when he wrestles, revealing his intense expressions. For special matches, he adorns his face with fierce tribal face paint.

Face Claim: Tama Tonga

Personality & Background:
Kai Malo's story begins on the sandy shores of Apia, Samoa, a land steeped in rich traditions and a deep love for the art of wrestling. Born into a family with a strong wrestling lineage, Kai's destiny was intertwined with the world of sports entertainment from the very beginning. As a child, he listened to tales of his ancestors' prowess in the ring, igniting a fire within him to carry on the legacy.

From a young age, it was clear that Kai possessed an innate athleticism and an unwavering determination. He would often mimic wrestling moves on the beach, drawing the attention of his family and friends. Recognizing his potential, his parents enrolled him in a local wrestling school at the age of twelve. Under the guidance of experienced mentors, Kai honed his skills and learned the art of Samoan wrestling, which combined power, agility, and the spirit of his ancestors.

Kai's early years in the local wrestling circuit were marked by victories, captivating performances, and a growing fan base. His ring presence was magnetic, capturing the attention of everyone who witnessed his matches. His signature move, the Ascendant Samoan Drop, became a symbol of his heritage and power, earning him the nickname "Bad Boy" for his fierce demeanor and unrelenting style.

In his late teens, Kai received an invitation to participate in an international wrestling tournament in the United States. This marked the beginning of his journey beyond the shores of Samoa. In the US, Kai's unique blend of striking power, technical prowess, and impressive aerial maneuvers caught the eye of scouts from various wrestling promotions. He signed a contract with Supreme Slam Alliance (SSA), a promotion that initially struggled to grasp the full potential of his character.

Kai's debut in SSA was met with excitement, but his gimmick as a face failed to resonate with the audience as he had hoped. Despite his best efforts, he faced difficulties getting over with the crowd. His frustration grew as he felt his true potential as the enigmatic "Bad Boy" was stifled by the promotion's creative direction.

After a series of unsuccessful attempts to rework his character as a face in SSA, Kai made the difficult decision to leave the promotion. Frustrated by the limitations placed on his gimmick, he sought new opportunities to fully embrace his "Bad Boy" persona. Rising Fury Wrestling (RFW) recognized the untapped potential and offered him a contract, welcoming him with open arms.

In RFW, Kai found the freedom he had been yearning for. The promotion saw the heel potential within his "Bad Boy" character and gave him the creative liberty to explore his darker side. Embracing the face paint, masks, and entrance music that had been instrumental to his persona's inception, Kai fully embodied the enigmatic "Bad Boy" and captivated the Rivertown audience.

With the backing of RFW's creative team and the support of his fellow wrestlers, Kai's "Bad Boy" character flourished. His captivating entrance, menacing face paint, and fearless ring style resonated with fans, making him a captivating heel figure. He established himself as a force to be reckoned with in the Rivertown wrestling scene, proving that his journey was far from over.

Moves:

Move Set: Kai's wrestling style is marked by a versatile combination of strikes, power-based moves, and athletic high-flying techniques that highlight his agility and strength.

Finishing Move: Tribal Fury - Kai unleashes a series of rapid and impactful strikes on his opponent, finishing with a devastating Samoan Driver that leaves the crowd in awe.

Knut Harms

Gender Identity: Cismale
Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual
Promotion: RFW
Gimmick: Knut Harms (Knut uses his real name - his family always has)
Role/Position/Job: Professional Wrestler Heel, tag team partner with Karen
Hails From: Rivertown
Entrance Music: Faderhead - Fistful of Fuck You
Entrance & Ring Attire: Black t-shirt, cargo pants, boots. In the ring, removes shirt.
Face Claim: Denis Sergovskiy

Personality & Background: Knut wants people to see him. Not his brothers. Not his father and uncles. Not grandfather and great uncle. He feels like he is always in their shadow, and everything he does is unfairly judged against them. While Knut thinks he wants the adoration and cheers that comes with being a babyface, deep down what he really wants is to be liked and have attention. If being a heel and being the bad guy is what gets him over . . . then so be it.

The Harms family emigrated the United States in the 1970s. Vlad and Oleg Harms sought a better life for their families in the land of opportunity. The brothers had worked as professional wrestlers in Europe, but circumstances forced them to leave. They worked several territories before settling in Rivertown and joining the Rivertown Wrestling Federation. They had gained some notoriety in other territories, such as Southpaw Regional Wrestling, but it was in the then RWF that they truly struck gold and distilled their 'evil foreigner' to its greatest iteration and made a lot of money. Vlad and Oleg each had two sons who joined them in the family business, and the group formed a stable that continued the 'evil foreigner' gimmick until Vlad and Oleg retired in an 'I quit' match against a top team of patriotic baby faces. After the first generation retired the stable fractured, and the Harms' family split. A few became babyfaces, embracing Americana and rejecting their fathers' heelish ways, while others doubled down and continued the underhanded, cowardly tactics that made the Harms family name synonymous with villainy.

A third generation has come into their own, and they have followed in the steps of their forefathers. Knut Harms is the youngest of four boys, and has a younger sister. His oldest brother, Michael, went Up North some years ago, but prior to that he was a big star in the Supreme Slam Alliance, a mega babyface beloved by all. His other brothers and sisters also joined the SSA. But Knut shocked Rivertown when he made his debut on Rising Fury Wrestling - the first of the wrestling Harms family to ever do so. Knut tried to play himself as a sympathetic babyface, coming to RFW to truly make a name for himself and to stand on his own two feet without the shadow of his family hanging over him. This would have gained traction and played well in the SSA, with its proud traditions, but it gained little attention from the RFW diehards. Forums and local zines dedicated to wrestling called Knut a coward, a disgrace to the Harms name, and called for him to leave his boots in the ring. A cannier wrestler would have parlayed this into scathing heel promos for heat, but at this point Knut wanted to be a face and did not stoop to such depths. While an impressive, freakish physical specimen at 7'4" able to manhandle other wrestlers like children and perform enormously impressive feats of strength, throwing people through tables and catching a 200 pound man flying from the top rope on the floor and reversing a cross body into a slam was just not enough to connect with the crowd and get him past curtain jerking.

For a pay-per-view, Knut was thrown into a royal rumble to pad out the numbers. He had no angle, and he was floundering. His days were numbered unless he did something. Another wrestler in similar straights was Karen from Accounting, whose Basic Bitch gimmick was not quite connecting and getting her over. The pair talked backstage, and decided to have fun on what could be one of their final appearances. The royal rumble had no real structure until the end, just a loose order when people were supposed to be eliminated. But as long as the finalists were in the ring by the appointed time for the finish, it did not really matter who went out when. Knut and Karen sort of went into business for themselves, working to eliminate other members. Sometimes Karen distracted a wrestler and Knut took advantage, and vice versa, and other times they double-teamed a wrestler to get them over the top and out. Surprisingly, the pair got huge pops for doing so, and the announcers took it and ran with it for all it was worth, playing it up as if the pair had a big plan all along - rather than it being a spur of the moment decision made minutes before they came out.

Of course, the pair were not meant to win and got eliminated before the finish - to huge boos for the more popular stars eliminating them. The crowd did not quite pop as loud for the remainder of the rumble, and management jumped on it. The two were quickly paired up, and the next television broadcast included a backstage feature with Knut and Karen cutting a promo about how they were going to shake up Rising Fury Wrestling and get what they deserved: recognition, main event matches, and championship belts.

Great stuff, love the backstory. Just a few things

It looks like the first harms wrestled in RFW, but later you have all the Harms joining SSA and Knut getting stick for joining RFW, the promotion his family started in. Just wondered if that was intentional.

Cold Heritage

Maybe I got the abbreviation wrong or misread the Rivertown history, but the intention is that the first generation Harms joined the Rivertown Wrestlling Federation before its transition in the Supreme Slam Alliance. Just to drive home how much history Knut's turning on in his back on his quest for personal fame and accolades.

My apologies, you are completely correct. I’m human and my jealous over tagging with Karen got the best of me :)
