The plot ideas!

First Contact [sci-fi, furry, alien x human]

This is an idea that's been bouncing in my brain for literally years, with little in the way of actually getting to scratch the itch, so here's me trying again:

Having watched a lot of what you might call "military procedurals" - movies about high ranking military officials doing high ranking military official stuff in response to some crisis in modern or semi modern day - I've been wanting to bring my aliens in the mix. I would like to play a situation where my species of smallish feline anthro aliens meet modern humans on earth.

There are two possibilities in my brain for this: Either a single individual from my species crash lands on Earth and we go from there. Wether he becomes a target of a manhunt immediately and gets dragged into a secret facility to be interrogated and experimented on, or if he comes across a human who wants to help, is up to us. He certainly wishes to get home and will try his hardest to contact his kin, but it can turn out quite difficult.

And what happens should he succesfully contact his species? How does the humankind respond to a rescue effort conducted by this alien's people? I want to explore all of this, while hopefully seeing a budding romance between our characters. Are you a kind person who tries to help? A scientist who develops a fondness to her subject? Something else? I don't know, but I'd like to see.

Second approach is a more controlled first contact: My species has had an observation post at the edge of our solar system for years, studying signals and learning the language, and finally due to reasons known only to them, this sppecies of small feline anthros decides to openly make themselves known to humankind. How do humans react? How do they receive the alien diplomats? Do some of them engage in aggression? I want to explore all this with a fellow writer.

Cold people in the cold north (medieval fantasy, magic elements. MC human but yours can be nonhuman if you prefer)


The idea I have in mind is a version of an arranged marriage plot: A high ranking noble, having hired a mercenary group from the north to kill a monster for him, finds himself unwilling to pay for the services rendered and as such decides that getting rid of a particularly troublesome daughter could solve two problems at once: It gets the Northern barbarians to leave and it rids him of that damn girl.


Now, there have been stories circulating about the Northerners: That they’re cruel, ruthless barbarians with dark magic who’s only joys in life are drinking and killing. However, this leader of the mercenary company appears contrary to those rumours: Quiet, soft spoken and polite, even if distant. And once they arrive to his homeland, and his true status as a son of a northern noble is revealed, things turn out to be even more contrary to the rumours: While the northerners are indeed boisterous, quick to drink and quicker to fight, they also show remarkable care for each other, their women wield independence such that could be scarcely dreamt about back in her homeland. Maybe this new life wouldn’t be too bad after all. Except… why does he not show any signs of wanting to consummate?


Well, you dear reader probably know why: He is very much a sub and a bottom, and while his folk – aside from the good natured ribbing and jokes – do not find it objectionable, he is very much under impression that he got handed some fainting, wilting flower. Was he? And even if he was, if she was introduced to a new way of doing things, could that change?


I’m looking for a slow burn romance, of the two of them slowly growing closer and her finding out why he has seemed so unwilling to go any further. There will likely be culture clashes and her getting used to her new homeland, making new friends and perhaps enemies. There are always people angling for power after all, and no one is going to take the prince getting stolen from under their nose lightly. Maybe this develops into court intrigue? Maybe she has a claim her new husband is willing to press? Maybe they just become an unexpected power couple? I don’t know, but let’s discuss!

The Warden of the Wilds (fantasy, human/human, human/nonhuman, all kinds of things)

This is more of a collection of ideas loosely connected by a character concept. I’d like to play a ranger character, who’s technically a noble, but his position is an ignoble one. As warden of the wilds he has the thankless job of hunting and killing the beasts that go bump in the night and generally make sure whatever calls wilderness their home either stays in the wilderness or dies. While this is a job that pays, it comes with no lands, no fiefdom nor peasants to rule over, and since belief in the supernatural and magic has waned, he has gotten a reputation of a weirdo chasing critters in the woods for who knows what purposes. He, and the monarch, know better.


The loose cloud of ideas around this character contains a few things: The Warden might come across the princess of the land in the middle of an attempt on her life arranged by another claimant, forcing the two of them to flee and travel through the wilds as they seek for support to overthrow the usurper. Maybe during their travels, the two become close, despite their very much opposite starting points – her as pampered noble lady, and him as a weather worn ranger.


I also came across a character on an AI site no less, of a goblin wanting to be a princess. From there I started thinking I’d want to do something along those lines: Not necessarily same motive, but the same setup of a nonhuman creature in a party hosted by some noble, maybe even the monarch. The other noblewomen would probably very much oppose her presence and make that fact known, while he has no qualms about intervening and showing her the courtesy owed. Where do we go from there, I don’t know, but we can hash that out


Finally, I’m a man of ultimately simple desires: I’d love to do a plotline where he gets captured, maybe by sentient nonhumans, maybe by creatures he thought were just beasts, and he now has to come to grips with their prisoner. I’d like for this to blossom into a reluctant romance eventually, with him having to ultimately decide where his loyalties lie.

• I generally write multi paragraph posts that take time and life frequently gets in the way, so I'm not as a frequent poster as I once was.
