I am a collector of cookbooks because I hate cooking. Weird, huh? I'm more of a baker!

I cook for four adults 6-7 days a week (a type 1 diabetic, a mushroom hater, an extremely picky eater, and a 71 year old). I am the mushroom hater :D.

I have a large collection of Taste of Home cookbooks because of their tendency to include pictures for almost every single recipe, but even with about 50 books, I am always looking for more. Surely I am not the only one who hoards cookbooks, so I am wondering if any of you can recommend some new ones that are very photo heavy. I am particularly, currently, looking for heart healthy ones, but any other recommendations are appreciated!

Here's hoping!

I'm fond of Rukmini Iyer's one-pan meal series: The Roasting Tin, The Quick Roasting Tin, The Green Roasting Tin, The Roasting Tin Around the World. I see she has The Sweet Roasting Tin out now, with one-pan desserts, which might appeal to the baker in you.
To go in the dark with a light is to know the light.
To know the dark, go dark. Go without sight,
and find that the dark, too, blooms and sings,
and is traveled by dark feet and dark wings.

Do her books include pictures of every recipe or close to it?

Pretty much. Recipe on one page, full-page picture across it, mostly.

I'll check them out, Thank you!

I collect cookbooks. Jewish, French, Italian, Balkans... Not especially healthy 😉
O/O and ideas - write if you'd like to be Krennic for Dedra or Jyn or Syril for Dedra (Andor/Rogue One)

I get recipes sent to my email.  They were Yahoo groups, but they switched to IO or something like that when Yahoo got rid of groups.  Not all of the recipes have pictures, but some of them do.

https://www.epicurious.com/

That is a website I go to if I'm looking for something specific.  It has pictures.  Not a book, but pretty handy.

Yeah many of mine are comfort foods, casseroles, grandma's favorites, tons of baking... not healthy *giggles* But my mom needs to be on a heart healthy diet now, so there's a real need for those healthier kinds now

I do visit websites, but I like to have the actual books, y'know? I like to go through, sticky the pages, make something, then write right in the book how it turned out. I wanna pass them onto my daughter when I'm gone! <3

I did get a journal for that reason.  If the recipe turns out good I write it down in the journal.  It's like a homemade cookbook.  My mom had a box full of cards from different people of recipes that got passed on.  My great grandmother's secret chocolate chip cookie recipe was one of them.

Are they the chewy kind where you can taste the butter and brown sugar? I don't know how else to describe it. I can make perfectly fine chocolate chip cookies, but I can't make them turn out specifically like some I have tasted. I wanna taste the cookie as equally as the chocolate chips.

I have quite the cookbook collection. There are several themes: brewing, vegan/vegetarian, smoking meat, and several destination cookbooks. Then there are those for making jam or pickling. My dad used to love doing it and received awards for some of his concoctions. I have his books with hand written notes in them and so many stickies.

And then, like Azy, I have a box of index cards filled with recipes from both my husband’s and my grandmothers.

I LOVE that you have your dad's cookbooks with the notes and stickies. That is what I am striving for to leave my daughter. I do have recipe cards for things her and I have concocted, but a lot of my cookbooks have notes on what changes to make for the printed recipes.

No, they aren't chewy, they're soft.  Honestly I think the cookie taste is better in my great grandmother's soft cookies than the chewy ones I've had.  The difference seems to be more flour.

I don't think I'll be much help as I tend to collect unique or themed cookbooks. So stuff from movies, books, tv shows, games, history, different cultures, etc. But I wanted to say you're definitely not alone in collecting them!

Ohhh, do share! And do they have pictures? I'm supposed to be finding heart healthy stuff, but that doesn't mean I don't love food porn books!

This may be a good excuse to get them all together and get a picture. Lol.

Also, great to see you around again. <3 (you may remember me as Christa or Christa McGinn)

Aww thanks! <3

I do vaguely remember you, actually! It's hard remembering everyone but the more I am here, the more little tidbits are coming back  :-)

And pictures are always good!

I think it's pretty much the same as the recipe on the back of Nestle chocolate chip bags.  The main difference is instead of 2 1/2c flour, her recipe was 3c flour.

I do have a box of old family recipes that I need to eventually type up, but I'm in the same boat as Clio when it comes to cook books. I generally buy themed books.

My favorite has been the Heroes' Feast: The Official D&D Cookbook. While not every recipe has a picture, most of them do. I've yet to cook something from it that I haven't loved. I cook from it often. The book is split up into recipes from the different standard races in D&D: Human, Dwarf, Elf, Halfling, and then just a catch-all section. The human stuff is pretty simple, stews and roasts and that kind of stuff. The dwarf section is very rich, heavy, and hearty things for the most part like Miner's Pie, Tide-Me-Over meatballs, and sausage recipes. The elf section is lighter with lots of greens, fruits, sea food, and light breads. The Halfling section is very much comfort food like chicken soups, pies, and stuff. The catch-all has a nice Halfling Chili recipe with ground turkey and cocoa powder. It's been a very worthwhile purchase in our house. Even if it was just labeled as a 'Fantasy Cookbook' and not D&D, its got a lot of great stuff in it.

I also have the Unofficial Harry Potter Cookbook, which is kind of a letdown. Lots of recipes, but no pictures, and sometimes the instructions are vague. I recently grabbed the Unofficial Studio Ghibli Cookbook. It has a decent amount of pictures and the instructions for some of the more technical stuff is well written. The only issue is that it's very themed to the movies, so you get some very simplistic recipes that one wouldn't wholly need a cookbook for (like making pancakes or cooking bacon/eggs in a skillet). I am going to take on the challenge of the Herring Pie this fall though. It's a massive recipe from KiKi's Delivery Service.

I'm thinking about grabbing the Avatar: The Last Airbender cookbook. I've heard good things about it.

Omg! Heroes' Feast has been my favorite one lately! I just got it for my birthday. I especially like the chicken and dumplings.

That is a good one. The Chicken Everything Soup is amazing too. I like the Cherrybread and Dark Molasses Nutbread too. I like bread recipes that are just mixed and baked. Not a lot to them.

I'm actually making the Heartlands Rose Apple and Blackberry Pie on Monday.
