"A dim place, ancient beyond knowledge. Once it was a tall world of cloudy mountains and bright rivers, and the sun was a blazing white ball. Ages of rain and wind have beaten and rounded the granite, and the sun is feeble and red. The continents have sunk and risen. A million cities have lifted towers, have fallen to dust. In place of the old peoples a few thousand strange souls live. There is evil on Earth, evil distilled by time . . . Earth is dying and in its twilight . . .”

“T’sais,” The Dying Earth, Jack Vance

Ahem. Hope those aren't too imposing, but I wanted to convey some Vibes of what I'm looking for! Anyway. Hi. At the moment what has inspired me to make this request is remembering that old show Thundarr the Barbarian. I have to be honest that the show is before my time and not something I've seen much of, but what I've seen is tremendously inspirational, if a bit...cartoonish, due to the constraints of the medium.

So what if you go back to the literary roots of such pulpy action—and in doing so, cast off those Saturday Morning Cartoon shackles?

I'm not actually looking for a Thundarr-specific fandom story here, but something with a similar vibe of a duo or trio (we can share the bestial third partner) adventuring around the ruins of a dying world. Other major touchstones here are The Book of the New Sun by Gene Wolfe, The Pastel City by M John Harrison, and the above-quoted The Dying Earth by Jack Vance. And, as an even earlier inspiration for adventure on a dying planet that is not Earth, the John Carter series of books by Edgar Rice Burroughs. Similar ideas, but I'd prefer this be set on Earth, so far in the future that our history is nearly forgotten, that technology has aged out of existence, and now the Earth is...tired.

This is definitely going to have a lot of world-building. Some particular points: What technology might still work, but is seen as magic? Is there actual magic? How do people live now? Subsistence farming with small petty collectives occasionally clashing?

I would be most comfortable playing an analogous character to the barbarian, and so would be looking for someone to play the female mage/technomage companion. I wouldn't mind mixing up this dynamic, though, with a male mage and female fighter, as long as it's played reasonably. Mostly I want contrast between the two's skillsets, obviously. A counterpart to Thundarr's feline companion Ookla the Mok is optional, and if such a character were involved he would ideally be shared between us. I am not interested in smut involving this character, nor in a three-way relationship for this pairing. Mostly looking for that adventurous dynamic, with plenty of action and atmosphere...and, of course, some smut along the way.

Let me know if this interests you! I'd love to chat on Discord, but send me a PM here to start out with unless I already know you...in which case, go ahead and just hit me up, I guess!
