Elliquian Herald and Post

It's that time of the month again; the staff of the Elliquian Herald and Post brought Elliquiy its sixth issue almost one month ago, on 2009 March 15. It was our sixth issue, and marked the half-year mark for the community newspaper. We're (hopefully!) going to implement something that was suggested back when the paper first began: monthly blog entries that provide a quick highlight of our articles for the month.

In about a week, look forward to another blog entry highlighting April's issue. Remember, we put out new articles on the 15th of every month, so look forward to the date!

With no further ado... Here are the highlights you can look forward to reading from March's issue:

Please remember that if you are NOT an approved member... most of these links won't get you anywhere.

In A Word From The Editor, ShrowdedPoet elaborates on spring, and the beauty of the season. A wonderful, refreshing reminder of what this season promises.

Valerian and your friendly Elliquiy staff can tell you all about the new changes from the SMF upgrade, and the move to our new dedicated Ubiquity server in this month's Words From The Staff. There are new settings and things you can explore everywhere, not the least of which includes the shoutbox, new private message settings, the reincarnation of the search engine, a brand new blog area, and a review of Elliquiy's IRC channel.

And without fail, Greenthorn has brought us a listing of all of the members that have been approved in the past month in the Member Spotlight. We also have a number of interviews from some of Elliquiy's oldest members: Darwishi, Vandren, GolGol, bishrook aka fatesisters, Vice, and Tom answer some questions about Elliquiy.

Looking for a partner? You might want to consider Christa McGinn, who was this month's Author of the Month. This randomly-chosen member gives some of her own personal insight on writing, roleplaying, and her experiences on Elliquiy.

If you're looking for a new game to read, this month's Game of the Month is The Gold Digger, co-written by Valerian and Stattick. The Golden Touch reviews the story; unfortunately, you're going to have to start from post #1, since she doesn't give anything but a small summary of this x-page and counting story.

You've noticed the cool new shoutbox, and sometimes you see things that you're confused about. This month's The Wheres and Hows of Elliquiy, written by Caeli, might give you some insight on special emoticons and BBCode that you can use in the real-time chat. One word of advice: avoid yellow. It's blinding.

If you've been keeping up with the movie scene, then you'll know that The Watchmen is finally out in theaters. Is it worth the $11 plus snacks? Valerian certainly thinks so. She reviews the movie (though, you might want to avoid if you don't want spoilers!) in this month's edition of The Movie Critic Next Door.

Want some Irish-themed food to celebrate St. Patrick's Day? Maybe Recipes of Aiden can help. Aiden gives us recipes to delicious-sounding items including Irish coffee, chocolate whiskey cake, and shamrock cookies with green butter cream frosting. Instructions are included; ingredients are not.

E-anniversaries, birthdays, and even a baby this month! If you read the Personals, then you won't miss any of them. If you see Michi no Sora, remember to drop her congratulations for the birth of her healthy baby girl.

That concludes the highlights for this month's edition of the Elliquian Herald and Post. If you're interested in contributing an article, remember to read the blurb About Us and contact ShrowdedPoet (editor), Caeli, AND Dawg (the head staff). When you PM us, please PM all four of us (including the newspaper account) in the "to" field.

Thank you to everyone who helped contribute to this month's issue. Look forward to our seventh issue in April!
