I will be posting my Gunbreaker tomorrow, it's late and I do need to get to bed. Still have to purchase equipment beyond armor and weapon...but I could drop him into game now and he would still be playable, now it's just polish and character.

Ahhhhh I forgot about background skills. You guys can add that in if you haven't been doing so. Basically you can just take a couple free points in non active skills for each level.

Edit: I also completely forgot about starting cash so how has everyone been doing gear buying?

I rolled for starting gold, and ended up with 220 gil.

Starting Wealth: 5d6 × 10 gil (average 175 gil.) In addition, each character begins play with an outfit worth 10 gil or less.

I forgot how damn expensive armor is, hence only running about in a breastplate for now--but then, it kind of fits into the character's backstory, so I'm also pretty content.

Added one point to each of Craft (Armor) and Profession (Gardener) -- Armor mainly to represent he's had to do his own work to repair an old suit of family armor (which, in my mind, is the breastplate he's currently got); and as a kid, he was fond of greenery, had a bit of space to grow stuff, and really took to it as a hobby.

I'm working on an Al Bhed, almost certainly a thief, maybe a Treasure Hunter archetype, or possibly an Engineer.  I'm not sure how much repairing will be going on.  In any case, female and with the typical Al Bhed sense of style... not wearing much! :)

It looks as if we have melee covered, what we need is more long range fire power and/or healing...Or maybe astralogian and or summoner. I dunno. I have character ideas and I'm trying to narrow things down.

Looks like I'm going black mage or scholar because dammit I'm tired of being left as the heal slut in these sort of games!

Geodancer can somewhat do situational ranged damage and/or healing at level 2+. Or otherwise, I'm not entirely opposed to making mine into a white mage or something.

These are probably wild and all new classes to people. I say, play whatever you want, and I'll try to tailor things to the party so it's challenging but you shouldn't be wishing you had a different class.

Well I had one idea for a black mage who is either lambkin, hume, or mithra who is generally very nice and gentle and has a talent for magic. Unfortunately, he's endlessly frustrated that the magic he's good at is focused around destruction and wants to find a way to do more than simply blast monsters with it. I was thinking in his culture black mages are generally treated as serving the religious function of exorcists/monster hunters.

Another is probably going to be a hume from a culture based at least partially on medieval Korea who is a summoner tied to Ixion. They are driven by the whims of their patron and have been carried along following vague signs, omens, gut feelings, and a general desire to help keep the natural balance.

A third one is either going to be viera, hume, or mithra who's from a highly unorthodox sect of mages. Generally prim and proper, but also possessed of an unusual philosophy that depending on who one asks, might be deemed disturbing or deeply comforting, always seeking knowledge that others declare to be off limits in some form or another.

Also had a blue mage in mind who is a viera who left the woods primarily because he wanted to see all of the worlds natural wonders and the creatures therein. Generally he's withdrawn, soft spoken, if not a shrinking violet who despite themselves turns into Steve Irwins overly excited effeminate bunny boy cousin when seeing some rare natural phenomenon or creature.

Fifth is probably a hume astrologian, but their hook, I was thinking something like a religious pilgrim linked to an esoteric sect of the Kilitias religion is still something I'm trying to hammer out.

Bio: Jacob grew up on the edge of the mist near the western edge of Archadia. Life on the frontier called for constant vigil and adapting by any means the could find or salvage. it was not long before Jacob ended up joining the towns militia composed of Engineers, Gunners, and Gunbreakers(The triggermen). Spending his formative years as an adolescent learning not only how to fight and grasp how to properly use his chosen weapon. He was happy with his life, but still felt something was missing. It was not until the call went out for brave individuals and the local representative for the Hunt brought it to Jacobs attention that he realized he wanted more than just to wait in his little corner of the world for the end. Bidding goodbye to his fellows he arranged travel to the capital, standing on the prow of the ship he watched the city get bigger as the airship pulled into port.

Personality: Full of bravado he is quick to leap into action, and not afraid to throw his weight around if need be. With his blade in hand he is aggressive and more than eager to engage others to provide his allies a chance to flee, to fight or to escort civilians to safety. The Gunbreakers were always the first line, the first wall in the defense of his hometown when monsters would wander out of the mist, for him nothing has changed. In times of leisure he speaks his mind, and does not think lying gets him anything, after all the truth is much more fun(a fact that has rubbed some people the wrong way). In the end, he hopes that he is doing what's right, and hopes that when the curtain comes he could be remembered as a good man.



Finally got him up, sorry about that. Still have to get basic equipment but I will have some time this weekend to complete purchases. Like others I rolled for my gold. I really had to resist inserting Cid into my backstory, and right now I have no idea of the name of the small town near the western border of the mist. On a side note, to get me to focus on this i just pulled up the FF III/VI OST and listened to it while typing.
