Muse A is a professional Astrophotographer–has been for many, many years. It took more than a decade's worth of hard work to get him that title, but he's happy to have it and the opportunities it gives him. Not for the money-rich job options, but for the genuine joy he gets when he gets to see the stars for himself or share such an experience with others. It's partly why he became a Professor to teach some small capacity of Astrology and how to study the heavenly lights above. It's a privilege to share his interests with like-minded students, especially those like Muse B: a very well educated young woman who's studying the heavens is as high as his. He's not supposed to have favorites in this line of work, but he'd be lying if he claimed she wasn't a joy to have around and teach. B is a genuinely good student.
He believed he’d made a pretty simple assignment: in a few days time, the weather was due to have a cloudless night for the small town they lived in. The students of A’s class were meant to choose an area of the town that would afford them the best view of the starry night sky, find a constellation within the stars and photograph it for a presentation in class the next day. Muse A wouldn’t be participating in this, but it wouldn’t stop him from joining in on the Star-gazing in what he believed to be a secluded area. It was an uninhabited hill in the surrounding forest that sported a magnificent clearing he could stargaze from, and no one else in the town knew about it except him. It’s only pure luck that Muse B happens upon the area too, and A knows this; its why he’s perfectly fine with sharing the area this one night and providing “advice” for her to get the best grade.
Their shared loneliness leads to a lot more than the assignment.-----------
Essentially this plot boils down to a short little scenario: A professor and his student find themselves sharing a private spot in a forest and the rather
romantic environment leads one thing to another! I kinda saw this as more of a vanilla, fluffy, One-shot thing but of course there is almost always potential to make a plot long term!
I'm fairly open to additional ideas, changes in location and especially character appearances to those novella-literate, F writing folk who wish to PM me their interest in this plot!
