And for my bird talk! I saw a ruby-throated hummingbird today. A lot of people think hummingbirds only drink nectar, but they eat a lot of bugs. Ants, aphids, spiders, gnats, mosquitoes... hurray!

Thank you! I’m excited to be approved :)

I didn’t know that about hummingbirds! Anything that eats mosquitoes I appreciate a lot.

Thank you for having me! I also didn't know this about hummingbirds. I see a lot of doctor birds (a type of humming bird, distinguished by long swallowtail and a vibrant green, gold and black silhouette) where I'm at, but I'm just learning they eat spiders and small bugs too.

Lots of new faces today! Welcome and I look forward to reading your introduction threads.

Yaaay, bird friends! I have a flower garden, so one of my favorite birds to watch is the hummingbird because they don't give a hoot about me being outside with them. For being so small they can be fearless. The bee hummingbird is the smallest bird on the planet! I don't know offhand what the largest bird is (in height). Probably an emu or an ostrich. Those long, running legs probably give it an advantage!

Hello! Thank you very much for the welcome, mentioning hummingbirds brings back memories of some less-than-successful attempts on the part of my dad to get me into birdwatching, haha.

Lol! As a kid, it would absolutely not be in the cards for me. I wanted to climb trees, build forts, and generally cause good-natured havoc in the neighborhood with my friends. As an adult, having a hobby where 90% of it is sitting down and being quiet is right up my alley.

I will likely not see birds today. Spending most of sunlight hours building cabinets and counters.

And welcome to the newest members to sneak a peek at the site!

I liked your intro thread title, lol! I'll be dropping a question in there soon =]

And a warm welcome to the new faces!

And today's random bird fact: pied-billed grebes are waterfowl. When their babies hatch, they they will spend their time riding around on their parent's backs while their parents float/swim in the water. How adorable!

If this isn't the cutest thing I'll hear all day, I have no idea what is.

And my bird trivia for today...! I heard a barn out. Not sure where it was coming from, but there is more than one because a different owl answered it from a different direction. That's pretty exciting!

It rained a lot today. I did not notice any birds when I was outside.
