Is it possible for wizards or other characters with a spellbook (tomelocks, characters with the Ritual Caster feat) to pay to start with more spells in their books? I'm contemplating taking Ritual Caster, though that might not be too useful in such a large party.

You can spend the gold for additional spells in a spellbook.

Anyway, since we've got an Artificer coming in, I'll stick with the Fighter, is Echo Knight a permissible subclass?  That plus a polearm should make for a rock solid Defender setup.

I like Critical Role and Matt Mercer's creations, but for this game I'm gonna say no.

Heck if I can in game research some blue magic I may do so. But I do of course have several spells for perversion potential and for very close situations.

The likes of mage hand and shocking grasp are such spells I am selecting. Armor and Misty step is the obvious oh shit spell. Witch Bolt for themes of being a lightning mage.(If only I can turn it non non lethal for... reasons.)

I thought of Final Fantasy when I saw Blue Magic, but remembered it was different in DnD, least for 3.5 it was.

I'm definitely going to making good use of that 500 go for the spellbook. Diabelle is all set up save for spending gold. Give a look if you wish folks. I went with some heavy variation (and perversion) and will use the gold to fuel her evocation magics.

Maybe make a spell since there's no lightning magic for 2nd level. By that I mean make a Scorching Ray variant and swap sure for electricity. With permission of course.

Goliath's are resistant to cold and Broot is path of the berserker, so I guess losing the clothing altogether is an option and just having a belt for pouches, handaxes etc.

I'm in favour of this! Felwyn may follow suit at level 6 when she gets her cold resistance (from Path of the Storm Herald, Tundra), but until then she's definitely rocking the furs-and-warpaint look.

Excellent! I am leaning toward Ritual Caster (druid), then, to give her a nice spiritual angle along with the fighting. But it's still up in the air, and please don't let me discourage anyone from making a druid!

As for "winning and losing", Felwyn is definitely playing to win, but as an elf from a tough land, she's been a winner and a loser many times over, and knows how to pick herself up and carry on after a loss, so to speak. Plus she's no stranger to offering herself up for diplomatic purposes. Not that she's very good at it - probably won't have much in the way of Charisma or social skills - but she knows how to do what has to be done.

Currently working on the spellbooks. Just gotta calculate how much it'll cost to create a backup along with material components.

Wow that backup book is quite the gold sink but it is honestly I feel a wise investment since elements of capture can utterly bone a wizard. Best to have that backup in case the first one cannot be recovered. Just gotta be wise with my spendings.

Current count is 280 gp to fill the spare spell book with spells. Including Savant bonuses for Evocation Spells.

Jade Sung, Half-Giant (custom lineage) Fighter

Jade Sung "The Half-Giant Milf"

A former adventurer who retired years ago after marrying one of the men in her party. The two settled down and started a family, with a total of four kids so far. Though she originally had no intention of ever coming out of retirement, things changed when her husband grew weak and sickly, unable to support them on his own. Jade was eventually swayed to join the assembly of adventurers and mercenaries sent to reclaim Ostia on the agreement that her family would be financially taken care of while she was away.

Once a student at an illustrious magic academy in Ostia, her life was flipped upside down when a botched teleportation project shunted her from her world and straight into the fey wild. There she had to study the realm's strange nature and adopt foreign fey magics to survive, becoming more a druid than wizard. However just because she came to understand and harness the power of nature, didn't mean she liked it, or really even tolerated it. In fact she would go on to use her powers to fight back against the fey wild, burning down several acres of enchanted forest in her efforts to escape back to the material plane. In that sense she was quite the horrible druid, though it did make her a valuable asset in fighting against hordes of corrupted men, which she was quite happy to do after finally returning home only to discover her homeland had been overrun while she was away.
