The Boys: Off the Rails
He's in charge now... What the fuck are YOU going to do about it?

The Elevator Pitch

You're a Vought superhero. You know the drill, you've drunk the Kool Aid.

But things are starting to go wrong at the top. Homelander has taken over... And it's only a matter of time before everything starts crashing down. What the hell are you going to do about it? Team up, and try to put a stop to a madman who just so happens to be the most powerful supe on earth? Maybe find some hole to bunker up in, and ride things out? Or perhaps you're just going to make the most of the time you have left, before everything comes crashing down around you? Drugs, Booze, Girls(or Boys)... Who's gonna stop you anyway? Homelander?

This game will be a sandbox style game set in the world of The Boys, essentially running parallel to season three of the show. Homelander, The Seven, even Butcher and The Boys, they're out there somewhere, but unless you're incredibly unlucky, you'll never meet them. Instead, you'll be playing your own original characters. Mostly supes, but not strictly limited to them, so if you fancy playing something else... Feel free to get yourself snuffed... You'll be responsible for getting yourselves into trouble, and hopefully back out of it again.

Choosing a Character

So for characters, I'm thinking everybody plays a parody of a comic book hero. Or villain. Same powers, maybe just subtly different, but you can go to town on what kind of twisted personality you give your creation. Any cannon characters will be off limits, though they may show up in the plot as NPCs. Non-powered PCs, if anyone is crazy enough to make one, can be anything you like, though ultimately, they're regular humans at the end of the day(and thus roughly about as expendable as ants). You can even play heroes who have broken free from Vought's control already. Otherwise known as Supervillains. Or you can be a bad guy on their payroll, who's actually really nice? Sky's the limit.

Now, I'd like to take a moment to address the elephant in the room: Power levels. There's only really one rule here. Homelander is the most powerful hero. Period. He scares the shit out of you, even if you'd never admit it. Any hero you make must be weaker than that psychopath. No exceptions. If he shows up, it's gonna be a bad day for everybody. Otherwise the premise really doesn't work any more.

Breaking Taboos

In the same spirit as the show, I have no intentions of dissuading, or segregating smut in this game, nor moderating any extreme elements, beyond the rules already in place for E in general. It's a sandbox, and you can do whatever you damned well like! The Boys is hyperviolent, gritty, and explores some pretty deplorable themes. If you're not comfortable diving head first into whale guts, and potentially much, much worse, this probably isn't the game for you. This game will be in the extreme section. You have been warned.

Stealing the Show

I tend to avoid GMing, and it's been a while since I was last active on E, so... Fair warning, I guess?  If there's any experienced GMs out there who'd like to take this and run with it, or help me out, be my guest! I could use all the help I can get. Otherwise, please just let me know you're keen to get something happening with this, and I'll see what I can do. I'll get to work on a sheet once we have five or six interested players(though if someone else wants to work up a sheet first, that's fine and dandy - Yeah, bite me, I'm lazy...).

Gz guys, we're moving to the next stage: Recruitment. Get your sheet below, fill it out, then post it in the thread for approval. And stay tuned for further updates!

Interested. Yet to catch up ont he show besides the Soldier Boy PSA Outakes, but I do have an older Voight character that never got off the ground that I'd love to use.

firepyre

Well, I hate to say it, but I don't think there's quite enough interest in here just yet. I'm going to give it a few more days, but I'd like to see at least a couple more interested people.

Thanks to everyone who's expressed interest so far though!

pilgrimofpain

I haven*t done any group rp, but I love super-heroes and I love the boys TV show and would be willing to give it a fair shake.

CurvyKitten

Looks like I need to finish getting all caught up with the show LOL Color me interested!

firepyre

Two makes a couple. We're in business! I'll get to work on doing up a sheet in the next day or so.

@CurvyKitten: Keeping up with the show won't be mandatory, but I'll be using the setup of season 3 as more or less a starting point for current events. Think of it as background events for our setting. We will likely diverge from the storyline as we progress, so as long as you have a decent feel for the setting, and hopefully have finished season 2, I don't think it will matter a great deal.

ShadowFox89

I'll have to catch up to the show but this has my interest. What kind kf power limits are we looking at?

There are no concrete rules, because concrete rules tend to cause loopholes. Homelander is the most powerful hero in the verse. You must be weaker than him. The thought of trying to fight him should terrify you. The main premise is basically that he seems to be starting to spiral out of control, and nobody has a damn clue what to do about it.

The game isn't necessarily about trying to stop him yourselves... That's probably a good way to die, though you can try it if you like... It's about the illusion Vought created coming crashing down around you, how you cope with the aftermath, having a nigh unstoppable madman on the loose, and probably just trying to save your own skin.

ShadowFox89

How does vibration control sound? Not so much to like, cause earthquakes or bring a building down, but could seriously hurt someone's internals.... as well as turn their fingers into the ultimate vibrator.

Glad to see this getting off the ground. I'm thinking of a Raven knockoff but instead of actual magic she has this shadowy sentient psychokinetic energy she controls (most of the time). She'll be a New Age type, hence going with a magic theme. Pretty benevolent herself but the sentience behind her abilities is more sinister.

firepyre

@Shadowfox: If you want to play The Human Dildo, I see no reason to stop you. Just keep in mind that is IS set in the boys verse, so you're definitely going to cop some flak in verse for it.

@Foxy, Raven is an excellent hero to use for your parody, just keep in mind that in the setting, all powers come from V, or it's derivatives, so the Sentience would probably have to be a supe itself, who's somehow become attached to her. Either that or she's got some mental issues, and she just thinks the powers have their own sentience because they talk to her...

I'm working on a sheet now, so I'll hopefully have that up in an hour or so.

Okee doke, let's see how this gal works for ya...

Night Witch
NIGHT WITCH
Basic Information
Name: Irina Selene Aronoff
Role: Professional Hero
Alias: Night Witch
Parody of: Raven, with a bit of Nightshade and the Enchantress
Gender: Cis female
Sexuality: Pan
Age: 31 (born November 6)
Height/Build: 5’ 6/Killer curvy
Hair/Eye Colour: Red/Blue
Faceclaim: Ashlynne Dae
Notable Features: Irina’s mop of red curls is very distinctive, although she sometimes straightens it. She has a tattoo of an ankh surrounded by filigree on her back. While her bust has been tastefully enhanced, her bum is real and it’s spectacular.

Personality & History

Personality: Irina is a mix between goth and hippie. As such she is a very open-minded and accepting soul. Her personal politics are fairly far to the left, something that has always caused some tension between herself and the massive corporation Vought. Night Witch uses her platform as a superhero to push for a variety of causes on behalf of women, the environment, and LGBT people. Irina has a very relaxed attitude toward sex, like her parents she is polyamorous and her partners span the gender spectrum, She has similar views on drugs, being a regular consume of cannabis who indulges in others as well. In her downtime Irina enjoys listening to female singer-songwriters and reading urban fantasy novels. She loves the natural world and spending time in the great outdoors. Night Witch also loves the supernatural world and partaking in various metaphysical experiences. While she was raised in a secular home influenced by Buddhist teachings, Irina is Ashkenazi Jewish by birth and culture so antisemitism is personally repugnant to her.

Aspirations & fears: Night Witch is a genuinely good person who wants to make the world a better place, thanks to the values instilled in her by her progressive parents. This can be difficult while under the thumb of Vought, a corporate monstrosity that is against what she holds dear. Still she continues to work within the system, accepting what small victories she can. Any chance to topple the Vought monolith would be given some consideration. But as time goes on Irina settles into her life more and more. She also has the Lord of Sin literally living in her head. Whatever the origin of this entity, its sinister siren song tempts Night Witch to partake in a life of debauchery like so many of her peers do. Irina dreads that one day she will cease to be and the Lord of Sin will control her body.

Official Backstory: Born into a liberal family in Berkeley, Irina took an interest in fantasy at an early age that grew into a fascination with the occult as she got older. When she was sixteen a ritual she took part in with a group of friends accidentally summoned the demonic Lord of Sin. The fiend assaulted the other teenagers but Irina managed to use an incantation to drain his power and banish him away. With her newfound abilities she joined Team Titanic, a group of other teen supes, as Night Witch. Eventually Night Witch returned to San Francisco to operate The Witchery, a metaphysical bookstore, while also acting as a solo heroine battling creatures of darkness.

Defining Moments & Skeletons: So that origin contains a few stray bits of truth. Yes, Irina’s actual parents were activists in college. Sure, she became interested in the occult as a teenager and took part in that ritual. But her powers came from an injection of Compound V she received as a child. The Lord of Sin is either the sentient mind of the dark energy within her or a manifestation of mental instability caused by Compound V. Either way, the true perpetrator of the assaulting of her friends was Irina herself. Vought allowed her to live the lie for a few years until revealing the truth to guilt her into being a good soldier. Team Titanic was bush league compared to teenage supes groups like the Young Americans and Teenage Kix, made up of less-marketable misfits. This was why Irina was able to retire for several years and run a bookstore in San Francisco. Then interest in the supernatural began polling well and Irina was offered to either work for Vought again or her former coven would learn who really hurt them. Since then Night Witch has battled “monsters,” actually escaped Compound V experiments gone wrong.

Abilities

Superpowers:

  • ENHANCED PHYSIQUE: No, not the breast implants Vought browbeat her into getting although the surgeon did really good work. Like many recipients of Compound V, Irina is physically superior to normal humans. She can lift 800 pounds, 1000 if she concentrates. She heals twice as fast as a mere mortal, five times if she focuses. Her tissue is as tough as Kevlar and she has twice the endurance she would normally have. Toxins, disease, and temperature extremes are only half as effective against her. Night Witch’s eyes are accustomed to the dark and are as keen as any nocturnal animals.
  • SHADOWCASTING: Night Witch can summon psychokinetic energy that appears as wispy darkness. With it she can lift two tons up to thirty feet away, three tons and forty feet if concentrating. With proper focus she can arrange the molecules of an inanimate object so that it is intangible to other matter. She can also choose to have tactile sensation through the shadows.
  • FLIGHT: Irina can propel herself through the air at 45mph, 60 if she’s really pushing it.
  • EMPATHY: Night Witch can sense the feelings of others by either touching them directly or using her shadows. With concentration she can even cause a victim to feel the emotion she wants. Darker and more baser urges are easier for her to detect and manipulate.

Equipment:

  • COSTUME: Night Witch doesn’t have a set costume, instead she has an extensive wardrobe of sexy black clothing that enables Vought to put out several action figures of her. Initially Irina wore outfits that resemble a pop culture witch but in the last few years she has also donned attire that would belong in a fetish club as the dark whispers in her mind continue to influence her.
  • OCCULT OBJECTS: Irina has a variety of supernatural knick knacks… tarot cards, crystals, spellbooks, an old broom. These serve little to no practical purpose, they just help with her aesthetic.

Skills:

  • OCCULT LORE: Night Witch has spent most of her life fascinated with the occult, metaphysics, and New Age spirituality. She is highly knowledgeable in these areas. While not a true spellcaster, so he know various divination techniques like tarot or astrology.
  • LIMBERNESS: Thanks to years of dance lessons as a child and being a devoted yoga practitioner, Irina is quite nimble and flexible. This is helpful when needed to move with stealth. She also knows tantric techniques to enhance nocturnal activities.
  • HERBALISM: As a nature lover who has studied alternative medicine, Irina knows a lot about beneficial plants. This includes recreational ones like marijuana and magic mushrooms.
  • INTUITION: Night Witch may not have any actual mystical senses but she does have excellent instincts. This talent is very beneficial when dealing with the fakes and frauds among the supes and suits.

Weaknesses:

  • THE LORD OF SIN: Regardless of the true origin of this sinister sentience, Night Witch believes it is real and seeks to tempt her into surrendering to her most primal desires. Its influence is strongest when she uses her powers, especially if she is pushing them past their normal limits.
  • INCANTATION: As a way to help her focus, Night Witch will use the chant “abusus meum asinum.” It is not actually magic, just a phrase to help with her concentration. In fact her Vought handler proposed it and it’s really dubious Latin for “abuse my ass.” Chanting it takes up time and isn’t quiet, which could put her at a disadvantage.
  • LOVER NOT A FIGHTER: While experienced in heroics, Night Witch is a peaceful person most of the time and is hesitant to be violent. She has little skill in hand-to-combat and will try less harmful solutions when something more direct would be better.
  • HIGH TIMES: Irina is an avid cannabis connoisseur who dabbles in other drugs as well. In addition to having been raised learning about the benefits of medicinal marijuana, she finds it helpful in dealing with the unwanted voice in her head. However, there is also a good chance she could be under the influence at an inopportune time.

Connections

Eric and Nina Aronoff: Irina’s loving and supportive parents. Their college activism led Eric to be a Democratic congressman while Nina is a professor of political science at San Francisco State University. This means spending a lot of time apart but their open marriage helps.

Wade Hayden: An executive at Vought who has been something of a handler for Irina ever since she became Night Witch. Charming and looking younger than his years, Hayden is a ruthless manipulator, including exploiting Irina’s issues in order to have a physical relationship with her in spite of their generally adversarial attitude toward one another.

Extras

Theme Song: Miley Cyrus - Edge of Midnight feat. Stevie Nicks

Corporate Sponsorships:
Irina isn’t the most materialistic of supes but she does have a few endorsement deals that help keep her in sexy black clothes and fund charitable causes that are dear to her heart. Night Witch is the current spokesperson for Liquid Death canned water as her goth aesthetic fits well with their death metal vibe. She also has a variety of merchandising deals and is a regular talk show guest of VTV Television for Women.

Player goals

To explore the life of a genuine hero in a world of devils both within her and all around. Plus get in super-fights and have sexy times.

Irina’s Ons: Exhibitionism, Breast and Nipple play ,Outdoor sex, Voyeurism, Orgies, Rough sex, Gangbangs, Anal sex, Oral sex, Rimming, Dirty talk, Spanking

The Lord of Sin’s Ons: Being filmed, Breathplay, Slapping, BDSM, Whipping, Electroplay, Verbal abuse, Humiliation, Branding and Body Writing, Breast and Nipple torture, Gaping, Fisting, Needles, Knifeplay, Hair pulling, Suspension, Watersports, Bukkake, Facefucking and Deepthroating

Offs: Scat, Vomit, Vore

firepyre

Looking good, Foxy.

The Incantation is a nice touch, though it probably needs an "official" explanation that means something else, in order to keep it as an in joke. The recreational drug use works really well for the character, and the powers seem fine, although I much prefer that the lord of sin is a figment of her subconscious caused by a mixture of drug abuse, her strong belief in spiritualism, and mental instability, rather than an actual entity.

I think the ripoff Team Titanic is great, can't help but love the play on the name. I'd like to see a bit more mention of them in your connections, or other Ex-member concepts from other players. Wade Hayden looks great too, I might make him the local branch manager, and put a few other heroes under him as well. Would you like me to open him up to interested players playing him, or would you prefer him as an NPC?

Finally there's Irina's parents. For me, the idea of giving a supe kid to basically anyone who is politically active would more or less require them to have dirt on those people, or some other sure-fire way of controlling them

Foxy DeVille

Groovy.

The "official" origin of the incantation is that it's what Irina used to drain the power of the Lord of Sin and that it's some sort of elder tongue for "power of the nether world, flow within me."

The Lord of Sin is most likely Compound V-induced instability, I just like keeping it a bit up in the air so it can be explored in-game.

Team Titanic is a group briefly mention in the comics but not really fleshed out. I can make up other members but I'll hold off until others have their sheets so I don't end up taking someone's inspiration for their character.

I'm cool with Hayden in a general NPC role so that other people can use him.

I was definitely thinking Irina's dad would play a part and be explored more when things get rolling.

Like others said there are waaay too many possibilities but I was hovering around the idea of either a toned-down version of Magneto/Polaris OR something similar to Dupli-Kate but with way more limitations.
BUT I wanted to know is there already a version of those characters in the comics?
I don't recall them in the show... but I could be so very wrong.

Just so others know what I'm working on, someone a bit like Aquaman X Mystique. Which is an odd mashup but it's mine. (Ish).
