I haven't been the most active person here the last couple of years. I've written in the stories I'm apart of and I've advertised for new ones periodically, every now and then I've popped into a thread but I haven't really been around, around. My real life became really chaotic but it's now settled and I'd like to return and be more regular.

My question is, what is the ettiquette for making a return? Do I need to announce that I'm back? Do I just jump in? Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Welcome back Demoness :-)

As someone who came back from a long hiatus in September I feel the pain and excitement of returning to regular posting.  For me it helped a lot to do a complete redo of my On's and Off's page, without really looking at the old one because I realized that my likes had indeed shifted a bit and it was probably time to let that old stuff go and build from the ground up. I did end up keeping my old Absences thread for nostalgia and also because it notifies those who have posted there in the past about your return, but that section can be the best place to announce your return and hope to start writing again.

The Request Thread Rules have changed recently (how things are bumped but also before that now NSFW things have to be tagged individually), so maybe give them a look over before making one of those.  But really there is no set etiquette or protocol for coming back.  One of the greatest things about E is that it's always there waiting for life to settle down and for you to dive back in again :-)

I'm excited to see you around on the boards again!

They say best men are moulded out of faults, and, for the most part, become much more the better for being a little bad...

Tentatively Open to a few more 1v1's but also come write with me in Grey Matters--->

Welcome back! ;D

And feel free to jump in, the water's fine.

As Rampant mentioned, if you had an A/As thread before your absence, you could post in there to let former friends know you're back.

Otherwise, just start clicking around, check that your O/Os are still applicable and peek into the request threads.

If you come across anything unfamiliar or confusing along the way, please do reach out to any member of our awesome Staff team and they'll be more than happy to help you with any questions you might have.

Thank you both so much! One of my concerns was my O/O thread because my preferences have shifted a bit. I wasn't sure if a complete overhaul was ok or not. I will also click through any new rules and policies. ;)

I do have an A/A thread that I believe I'll be making an appearance in shortly.

Again, thank you for your help.

I completely overhauled my thread last year.  I chose to edit the first post - mostly so I didn't have to redo links anywhere, but making a completely fresh start is okay as well.

Just to clarify, do I need to just edit my existing O/O and request threads? Or, is it appropriate/permitted to create a new thread?

You can make a completely new thread (and even delete the old one, since it shouldn't have anyone else's writing in it.)

Alright, thank you so much.
