Bio: Alessandra came to America illegally.  Originally from Brazil they were poor and had little prospects in their own country, so her parents made the dangerous trip to the United States when she was three years old. Her family received their citizenship when Alessandra was twelve years old and when she was eighteen, she received a full ride scholarship from Northwestern in Evanston. IL where she recently graduated with an MBA.

Alessandra moved to the Indigo Place neighborhood because it seemed a good place to open her business.  While her father worked construction Alessandra’s mother stayed at home with Alessandra and her sisters.  They grew enough fruits and vegetables in their backyard to feed themselves and help their neighbors and Alessandra never forgot how fulfilling that was. Her mother’s vegetable garden was surrounded by flower beds that were tended just as lovingly as their fruits and vegetables and her green thumb had been passed down to her daughters.

It was inevitable that the first business Alessandra started would be a florist.  She rented a small shop space on the corner between Parker Commons and the local bodega with good foot traffic.  Alessandra didn’t really identify as queer.  She had only ever had boyfriends and they weren’t bad relationships.  She knew she found some women attractive but hadn’t acted on it and never thought she would.  Not until her friends took her to a local strip club and she met Jasin Cordwell.  There was an undeniable attraction.  One that bloomed into a torrid night and eventually into something undefinably them. 

Alessandra’s friends still shake their head not understanding how their business-minded, demure and gentle friend ended up with the showy, over the top, diva stripper/escort, but she did, and it works.  They moved into an apartment in Parker Commons together.  Jasin still strips and Alessandra opens her shop every morning rain or shine.  She teaches urban gardening courses at the Center every month for the enjoyment and extra money and can often be found tending a small rooftop garden at the commons when not at the flower shop or out with her girlfriend.

Bio: Born and raised in Naples, Italy, Bianca has been a musician her entire life. Her father, a member of the Orchestra of the Teatro di San Carlo, provided a unique exposure to classical music to Bianca and her sister and insisted they both begin learning an instrument from an early age. Bianca chose the guitar, her sister chose the piano.

Her mother did not have to work, but rather doted on her children, seeing to it that they were involved in as many activities as possible, but with a heavy lean towards all things music related. Her school years consisted mostly of various lesson, recitals and ensembles. While she was somewhat shy and awkward to most, she had a circle of close friends, played soccer and was an above average student.

By high school, she had years of practical classical music experience under her belt. She was growing bored and restless of the formality of classical music. Exposure to bands such as Queen, Pink Floyd and Deep Purple sparked a sort of rebellion in her musical tastes. She and her friends were hooked on the raw grit of the supercharged music. She turned to the electric and spent her free time exploring her new sounds. In college, she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with support from her parents, scholarships and student teaching. She also co-founded an all-girl band, Ribelle Femminile, that performed covers and original heavy metal music.

The band was successful enough to keep going after college, becoming a regular in the Naples Club scene.  She supplemented her income with a mix of retail jobs, occasional gigs with her classical guitar and teaching. The band, though, was her dream and her family. All of the members were close, coming of age together. Eventually, she and the rhythm guitar player were a couple. The band had its share of successes and inner turmoil as well. It stalled when one of the members grew ill and another needed to move. Bianca's partner wanted to quit, settle down and get married.

She took stock of the situation and decided she was not ready for a lifelong commitment to one other person nor was she ready to give up on the band scene just yet. She spent a year trying to reestablish the band with new members and spent time playing in several others, but nothing was quite ever the same.

After some time evaluating options, she found a music school in Chicago that needed an instructor of her caliber and offered a solid, steady income stream. She believed a move to the US would be a chance for her to explore opportunities as a musician in a a city known for its talent. Eager and optimistic to explore, she decided to take the job and begin a new chapter.

She had been living in a short term residential rental for the time being until she got more familiar with the neighborhoods of Chicago, a city relatively similar in size to her hometown. She was hopeful that it would have similar cultural offerings and diversity. After doing some research, she discovered Parker Commons in Indigo Place, an apartment complex in what seemed to be a perfect neighborhood for her.

Desired Plots: Bianca's life is centered around her desire to join or establish a band. Romances or tensions around such a passionate desire with aspiring musicians, or those in the business would be ideal.

Bianca is bisexuality and has had a long term relationship with a female partner. She is most comfortable with females, but might be swayed to consider a fling or a relationship with a male if the chemistry is right.

Other plots can include any other slice-of-life reasons for meeting. Open and flexible to ideas.

Bio: Gemma was born and raised as Jared Riece for the first dozen and a half years of her life in a family with roots in the arts.  Her Father was a music teacher during the day at a pricy private prep school hear their home in Portland Oregon, who worked as both a studio musician, playing over a dozen instruments, and giving private instrumental music and vocal lessons, while her Mother was a former model and actress, mostly doing regional theater and a lot of advertisement work and shoots before she became the mother of three.  Gemma has a pair of twin siblings, a younger sister and brother, both of whom stayed closer to home and are raising families with 9-5 jobs and college degrees.  The other familial trait was oddly enough athleticism, not something one often sees in an artsy bunch, but Jared and his younger sibs played sports pretty heavily, with her younger sister even earning a volleyball scholarship to Oregon State.

Jared was a quirky kid, or at least that was the usual definition given to a popular, good looking student-athlete, who was somehow different in ways that some other kids might have taken a lot of heat for.  Friends and family all guessed early on that Jared was gay, which in a way pissed him off since he hated labels and the expectations that came with them, and felt he was being stereotyped since he was into dance, drama club, gymnastics and basketball, as if he had to be into guys.  It pissed him off even more because, well, they weren’t wrong, and as he grew older Jared did have crushes on and eventually dated a lot of guys, but was also popular with girls and dated them too.  Even being Bisexual seemed a constraining thing, another label that just didn’t fit. 

College was likewise not a fit, at least not right out of high school, because really, who the hell knows what they want to do then.  Instead he moved to Los Angeles, did the whole waiter and odd job thing as he worked on developing a career in dance and choreography and found a group of friends that were more like himself, which was when he began being interested in performance art and in particular, became well known for performing in drag.  Always seeming to find foes, real or imagined and usually a bit of both, Jared, who performed under the stage name Gemini, found that even on the drag performance scene there were biases to be faced.  Compared to many of the others who danced and performed in drag, Jared/Gemini, was shorter, almost petite in height at 5’6” tall and curvier, especially through the hips and bottom, which was somehow an issue because he looked too truly female instead of clearly being a male dressing in drag.  It was ridiculous, but he found that there were little cliques and lots of preconceived ideas even in what seemed like as open and tolerant a community as there ever could be.

Moving to Reno and later Las Vegas where drag was a bigger and better paying gig and with more opportunities, he further found a big and behind the scene schism between performers that identified as male and those that were increasingly coming out as trans…which seemed an idiotic thing to argue about, but it was a thing, and an argument he soon found himself caught up in as he became more and more comfortable dressing as a female in his off hours.  Weirdly, when Jared finally came to the realization that he identified full time as she, his very cool and liberal family actually had trouble accepting Gemma as their daughter and sister, more specifically her Mom and brother were kind of strangely happy to have an openly queer kid who made a living as a drag queen, and yet were bothered by the T in LGBTQIA, not hateful, just not accepting of the transition Jared made to being Gemma.  They do aggressive bullshit like deadnaming and things like that, while her Dad and sister were fully supportive, with her sister teasing Gemma about what took so long for her to figure out who she was.

Gemma did pretty well as a drag performer before more fully transitioning, but hit it big in a transgender/nonbinary/androgyny focused stage show in Vegas where she became extremely well known for her burlesque performances.  Gemma chose to have top surgery, as her sister said, she needed to balance out her bodacious booty, and feels very comfortable with her transition and looks.  Some might call her a bit vain, but Gemma learned early on in high school that looks matter, far more to others than to herself, and she is beautiful in her own eyes and owns that everywhere she goes.  Having a taste for gambling, especially poker and sports betting, Vegas eventually proved a little too full of temptations and former lovers too.  Having attended college in her early thirties and with a degree in Business and Finance, she parlayed her burlesque contacts and an investment of her own cash into becoming the managing partner of a group that was opening a new dance club in Chicago called Pulse, and which appealed immediately, even in the concept stage, to her sense of taste and desire for a new phase and stage in her life personally and professionally.
