In the future...men are rare... And desperate times call for desperate measures.

It is the year 3500, and in the last fifteen centuries the Y chromosome, for reasons unknown, has largely vanished from humanity.  In effect, 1% of births are male.  The population loss from this has had some positive and obvious negative consequences- what remained of nature has regained much of the planet, and humanity lives in seven large domed cities.  The human population has gone to only a few hundred thousand and is still shrinking.

For a couple centuries after the problem became prominent about a millennia ago, men were kept as breeding slaves, or more precisely were kept bound and milked for there semen, until one broke free- and castrated himself and threatened to others.  Men were freed, but the problem remained- and so did the problems of male aggression and need.  So a desperate measure was proposed.

A law was passed that every woman enter a monthly hunt- as the prey- three times.  Each man could enter the hunt four times- and choose the one woman he wanted in the hunt.  As his personal pleasure and for humanity's sake more important- breeding slave.  Her wealth became his, her body his plaything, her mind his to shape and train by Nantes or other technology- or even a whip.  This gave men a safe hunt, the choice of there women, gave the strongest, most virile men the best (or first choice) of mates, and was fair as every woman had to do it.

Of course loopholes soon arose, and women could pay others to run for them all but once. 

Recently a old ship was found in orbit.  A ship full of cryogenic frozen people- male and female- from the old days.  Probably 2024 or 25...  Some of the men were young, attractive, and could easily be saved.  So could some of the women.  though men were more important, fresh genes were as well.

So, in effect...
My Character is either a man born in the future, and on his first hunt, or a 'professional slave runner'- a girl who has some minor defect that has caused her not to be chosen but otherwise gorgeous, and who runs the slave hunts for others- and a good deal of money.

Your character is either a man or woman of the past- in there first hunt.  Of course if male he is now wanted or not a slaves master... if female she is enslaved.
