John Krasinksi, Ron Perlman or Jeffery Dean...so many choices.  ???

But I'll figure it out, I've still got a bit of time.

Seriously though, when I hear Ron Perlman I always think of Teen Titans - Slade.

Spectre Pathfinder

I have an idea for a female Winter Soldier. Besides being female she has both arms replaced. Only one was amputated by the fall.
IMAGINE THE HORROR
The other was removed to improve combat efficiency after failing to complete a mission, the punishment for failing was the lack of sedation.

I am thinking Emily VanCamp as the face claim.

That would work and may well fit quite well with Kadigan's female cap in terms of their history.

Hi all,

This game is now officially recruiting!

The CS format and an example CS have been added to the first post. Please make sure all CS's are sent to me via PM. I will be working on the CS thread & OOC soon.

I have also updated the reserves lists for canons and faces and will post them below. I am counting all reserves as having been made today as recruitment only opened today. If either you have a reserve on there that you no longer want or you have a reserve I have missed please let me know!

In general any questions about filling out the CS please let me know! Please do take the time to read the CS  and the character creation segment as it gives some useful advice.

RedMoon

I'll formally reserve Cable and Cyclops and send sheets along. Don't have FCs for them yet. Though I suppose Cable should just be Josh Brolin.

Alright sounds good! It's totally up to you if you use Josh Brolin or not. I definitely think he looks the part but it's your call.

Kadigan

Ron Perlman should be Cable. And the Hulk. And Everyone. Because.

There is a fairly decent Josh Hamm Cable edit out there, but only just the one picture I could ever find and I definitely don't have the skills to make any.

I'll use him for someone if nobody else does, at least. I like his face.

The Uncanny Perlmen.

So if we having supporting characters for our peeps should we list them under Connections or is that for PCs?

That was intended for PC's. Who were you thinking in terms of supporting characters? You can't create too much background around other canon characters. Basically just aim for as much vagueness as possible if/when other canons have to be mentioned so that they are more open for other potential writers in future.

Oh like her mom, a friend with benefits, that guy Gregor who made a couple appearances in the 90s. Nobody vital, just for background color.

Ah, I see. I think I'd aim to note those in extras if you want to make some notes like that and save the connections for notes about PC connections as they can be useful.

Okee doke, will do.

Don't forget Xraven.

But I really want to.

Hatless

Out of curiosity, what kind of age range are my fellow X-Men looking at? I'm thinking of making a Jean that was a teenager and still struggling to control her powers when the first wave came along. Now, however many years later, she's got a better handle on things, but still struggles with guilt and the weight of the responsibility.

Also, don't know if this is a better question for the GM or the other players, but what is the formation date of the X-Men in this setting?

Regarding X-Men formation, I can figure out a date but I would say 'Quite a long time ago'. I want to account for the potential of characters who are 50/60+ having been in the X-Men a long time ago and this Charles is far from young. I'd say probably somewhere around the '80s in terms of Xavier's being started so founding X-Men would be far from young at this stage. Better to have the potential for older members I think, though, personally.

My Nightcrawler will be on the older side since I am using Alan Cumming. Around late thirties-early forties. Haven't decided an exact age yet.

My brain has not been top tier today, but I am sure you could potentially write up a rebirth of the character from one of the points she had died.

I'm not sure I'm grasping this suggestion? I'd rather refrain from getting into characters having died multiple times, it takes away from the weight of any casualties.

Fair enough! :D

But yeah I get what you mean as far as characters having died multiple times taking away the weight of the loss.

It's somewhat an issue with a lot of comic universes. Like superman dying was a huge deal at one point but now almost anyone dying is just... welp, they'll be back. Don't want to end up with that kind of atmosphere especially with a slightly grimmer post-apocalyptic tone to the whole thing.

This is why I don’t read the comics the characters and marketing act like death is a huge loss. It is just a vacation from their shitty lives. It has no meaning anymore. It’s pointless.

I stick to the cartoons and movies. Death is usually final, meaningful.

Juggtacular

If Jean is canonically older and Totoro doesn't want to use Phoenix as a "get out of jail free" card essentially to let you use a younger one, you could always app Rachel Grey? She's every bit as powerful as her mother and 100% as viable as a Phoenix Host. Plus she has those cool Hound tattoos sometimes.

Also some comics even reference how often people come back to life. Like when Nightcrawler got killed in canon and legit went to Heaven, he turned his back on God and Heaven to go help the X-Men and come back to life. And Kurt's like, "I can't believe I gave up eternal paradise to come back to life and go fight some more. Why would I do that?"

Spectre Pathfinder

Just because Cyclops and Iceman or whoever is in their 30s doesn’t mean Jean has to be as well.
