The City of Malus

Malus, the shining city in this fucked up world of ours. The first big city to make it in the wasteland. The Patriarch of the city was Victor Malus, before the war he was some hot shot tech guru from a long line of hot shot tech guru’s that led to a massive expansion of technology. Apparently he was the one who created a lot of the tech that led to a lot of the bionic implants that we use today. Lucky us, since without em, surviving out in the wasteland would be damn near impossible.

Why’s that? Well dear reader, that's because the old world governments fucked us in the ass and they didn’t spit on it, forget about dinner. Wars and not taking care of the environment led to mother nature coming in and ruining anything and everything about the world. Floods, droughts, severe weather, all that shit left the world in such a state where almost every single one of the world powers fell almost all at once. The rich of course went underground, built these elaborate cities that they all flocked too. Leaving the common man out in the cold wilds, trying to rebuild life in a way that they could survive. Starting tribes that worked as a community, of course these groups didn’t get along with each other all the time, war was common and life was brutal and short.

That’s why Malus was so special, 50 years after the collapse of the first civilisation Malus was formed. It wasn’t much, it was built in some mountain city named Denver, it serves as the central trade hub as a gateway over the mountains. The roads here are good, and the nearby mountain city of Perseus (one of the places the rich and affluent ran too when the collapse happened.) Opened its doors for trade. The land around the city is fertile, and The Malus city guard has done a good job of keeping the city mostly safe from the raiding tribes around the place from coming into the city..

But out of the city is hard, some of the farmers try to protect themselves, but it's hard when the tribes that raid are so well armed. That's where the bounty hunters came in, they were a controversial topic in the city, some thought they were barbaric, killers for the highest bidder, slavers, anything and everything awful you could call a person, and yet they never ran out of work here. They protected whatever and whoever the contract called for, having a couple of different agencies inside the city. But there was always a code, leave each other alone, don't mess with the mark during the job. Doing so was seen as barbaric, people were killed or worse sold off for doing so.

Malus the city of opportunity, there are so many things a person could be. People flocked here from all over to be whatever they wanted to be. They looked to this city as a symbol of hope, they didn't know the deeper and darker underlying circumstances of this place, how this city ran off secrets. Some things never change, and human beings always wanting more than what they had now was a constant in this place. Betrayal is common, so is corruption, murder. It was a dangerous place especially if one was new here. The farms needed slaves and no one was going to question where they came from..
