Great choice of Face Claim! Kato Punk is one of my favorites. Approved!

I see it shapes up to be a nice girl squad :) So, would anyone mind if my character(s) be a female(s)?

So a few more details before I start us off (that will hopefully happen during the weekend but given that lately my plans keep getting derailed it can be extended to early next week).

Our main adversary is the Dark Man (he is similar to the one from Stephen King's universe), an enigmatic figure that seems to be appearing during times of upheaval to add "fuel to the fire" and strives to summon the Old Ones.

The Society that hunts the monsters and artifacts is led by Mycroft Holmes or simply M and the agents at Her Majesty's service have a 00 in front of their "serial numbers".

A version of Hogwards exists but under a different name and with less students, because if I keep the canon version will cause more problems especially since it is during the Fantastic Beasts time.

Decided the theme for the first "episode" to be Jack the Ripper (his reincarnation), set in London (Elsa will probably be there for a concert). I think it is a good way to bring the characters together.

So far am thinking that Andune could be an "advisor" to the Society and Oksana could be an agent. If you have any objections to that feel free to voice them as this is just an idea :)

I have some ideas about Katherine and Elsa's recruitment that will be fun (at least I hope so).

Outcast

All sounds good to me - from female characters to Oksana being a double-0 agent. ;)

Would this be her very first mission in the field, or is she an old hand at poking her nose into weird happenings?

TheGrandAdmiral

Let's say that she had some missions (but not too many), so that she can still be surprised by the things she sees  XD

keyotess

Thanks :)  She has the ethereal quality I was looking for.

Having your characters being female as well is fine with me. :)

Andune being an advisor is what I figured for her. :)  Who occasionally ends up in the field for ... reasons  O:)

Sounds like a good plan. :)

PSS:  Question TheGrandAdmiral,  what does Andune know of the Dark Man?

In writing, a flaw is not the interesting part of a character.  What is interesting is how a person overcomes a flaw.  I want to read how a person overcomes a flaw, not how the flaw overcomes the person.

Outcast

Will M actually pay his agents, or is it more a "we'll cover everything you need while you're on assignment" sort of operation?

And what number has Oksana been assigned?  Ooh, and how many double-0 agents are there?

;D
My Ons and Offs  My A/A (updated 27th November '24)

TheGrandAdmiral

Number 7 is reserved for now :P

Well, my agent character - Liesel van Helsing is 004, so Oksana is 005. This is a new agency, though there have been different iterations of the Society in the past throughout the centuries, there will be more details in the game. Well I guess they get a salary, but also have a discretionary fund for other expenses.

Yes, she will end on the field since there are no cell phones or portable radios, so she will have to be present.

That is a good question, the Dark Man is more or less elusive so there are myths about him in different cultures and ages and not everything is true. If you have played Half Life he is a bit like the G-man.

Okay, so Andune knows of him and his general goal to summon the Old Ones, but anything else is unconfirm.

Katherine is based off my Ilvermorny RP in 2018. She is technically Hogwarts/Harry Potter material.

Himawari’s Fields of Ideas

TheGrandAdmiral

Yeah, I figured, just did not want to bring too many things from the Potterverse as it is too large and it will skewer things :) I hope it is not a problem for you?

himawari

Nope. When I first read the intro all I could think was Harry Potter lols.

TheGrandAdmiral

Well I guess some elements of the premise are the same or similar, so it can work, just not the canonical story of the Potterverse :)

Another question just came to mind, does any of the other PCs know that Andune is an elf?   Or even that elves exist?

Thinking on this. Possibly some sort of Gypsy Seer type, who requires opium to have her visions...not sure yet.

And are we trying for face claims in period costume?

Or maybe a hooker-turned-vampire...youngling...mmmmm

Edit 2: though I see we already have a couple  of transmundanes. NM. Retcon!

Either idea sound fun! Though a vampire will have a problem going out during the day, maybe to have an amulet or something like that?

As for the face claim, it doesn't matter, as long as you mention her wearing period appropriate clothes.

Nowherewoman

#42
Name: Lady Aleksandra Brighton-Byron
Gender: F
Age: 29
Nationality: Subject of His Britannic Majesty George V

Sexual Preferences:Omniravenous

Physical description (picture if applicable):

Height: 5'11”
    Weight:132#
    Skin color: pale
    Hair color: platinum blonde
    Eye color:blue-gray

Personality: Surprisingly outspoken and politically active for a woman of her time, nationality, and station; an odd mixture of condescending and generous; thrill-seeker.

Quirks: Superstitious; quite vain; always wear mens' clothes, including  pocketwatch and walking stick.
Likes/dislikes: The active life; pretty things and pretty people; aeroplanes; moving pictures; getting into trouble and out again; hunting- animals or human, when appropriate.
    Strengths/weaknesses:

+crack pistol shot and skilled fencer.
+expert driver, competent horsewoman; can fly a plane in a pinch, but the landing would be...interesting.
+connected, as only the traveled wealthy can be.
+tolerably knowledgeable about art and music, though hardly 'learned'.

-aggressive, almost reckless.
-unrepentant hedonist; she's often tipsy or drifting in opium fumes by noon. Or still in bed with her 'friend' of the week.
-if she's bored or distracted, can be downright rude.
-while generally open-minded, she has a few firmly-formed opinions, and doesn't care to examine the logic behind any of them.

Weapons: Pair of Mauser broomhandle 7.65mm pistols; Thugee dagger; if expecting serious trouble, she may add a cavalry saber and/or a Remington Model 10 trench gun.

Short Bio: A distant cousin of the infamous poet George Gordon, Lord Byron, 'Alex' lives well up to her more famous relative's reputation as 'mad, bad, and dangerous to know'. Privileged beyond the dreams of most, she is the first to admit she has far, far more money than sense, and so can afford to do nearly anything she likes; what she chooses to like makes her countryman opine she has no damned sense at all. Road races, horse races, aeroplane trips, safaris- only her long list of lovers, drawn from every class and rank of the Empire cause more eyebrows to be lifted than do her multitudinous and sporadic hobbies.

Her outspokenness, boy-cut hair, mannish clothes, and broad-reaching romances have had her accused of being everything from a tomboy to a communist to a prostitute, but her fearlessness (added to the fact that she seems to have contacts at Whitehall) has earned her a certain respect among people a bit less concerned with form than function. At times, she has been tapped  to act as an unofficial courier or Ambassatrix-without-authority, as she seems to know people high and low all over the world.

A great deal of her vast fortune goes to keeping up residences in half a dozen major cites, while more disappears to feed her appetites for collecting art, weapons, and people to keep her company. Even so, she will almost never resist an appeal from a charity dedicated to the 'small folk', and she's an easy touch for nearly any fakir, guru, tarot-reader, or gypsy she meets. It's also not unheard of for her to pay for a night on the town for entire rooms of strangers at a nightclub or restaurant, simply because hey seem to be enjoying themselves.

ff

Name: Skye Cormac
Gender: Female
Age: 23
Nationality (Race if a Magical Creature): Scottish (witch)

Sexual Preferences: Bisexual

Physical description (picture if applicable): Voluminous blonde hair that often misbehaves. Often appears taller due to preference for hats, and high heeled or platformed boots and shoes (and is a trained stilt walker) and the fact that when barefoot, she has a habit of standing high on the balls of her feet, with a deer-like gait. Fair complexion, but she gets a deep tan very easily, and often has an unusually bronze skin tone for London's infamously sunless clime. Ample curves, but she often wears masculine clothing (albeit usually sexualized or skimpified versions of this, such as suits with a neckline cut low or a corset in lieu of a vest and the pants replaced by a skirt too short for polite company). She's very fond of ensembles that give a 'peekaboo' or 'flasher' effect, such as wearing a cloak or trench coat over immodest inner layers. She has an acrobat's toned limbs and core, and a particularly tight grip.

Height: 5'7"
Weight: 120
Skin color: Tan
Hair color: Blonde
Eye color: Light brown like milk chocolate

Personality: Impish, fond of bawdy jokes, has an underdeveloped sense of shame. Quick to like people but slow to trust them.

Quirks: Risque sense of humor, high tolerance for pain or weirdness. Double jointed. Fidgety, has trouble staying still for long.
Likes/dislikes: Likes strong-flavored alcohols and foods and loud clothing  (on herself or others). Dislikes routine or hot weather (but loves hot baths and saunas, which she doesn't get often).
Strengths/weaknesses: Acrobatic. Great climber. Practiced at various feats of dexterity and legerdemain, such as card tricks, ropework and knots, wriggling through cramped spaces, hiding things or quickly disassembling and reassembling them. Trained sword swallower and can use this to smuggle her cane sword and similar objects. Is able to swallow and store objects in her stomach and retch them up on command. Very accurate throwing arm and precise with a whip. Good with animals. Bad manners and often 'puts her foot in her mouth' or makes faux pas. Known to overimbibe and make for a very emotional drunk (although she stays relatively coordinated under considerable inebriation). Gluttonous (though she tends to burn it off). Bad at hiding when attracted to someone or greatly desiring something. Has a bit of witch magic (telekinesis with small objects, akin to throwing or pulling in a baseball without touching it; charming animals; starting or snuffing small fires; creating small clouds of smoke or flashes of colorful light to obscure herself for a few seconds or create a nearby distraction; ventriloquism to maker her voice seem to be coming from somewhere nearby or 'whisper' to one specific person only from across a crowd; can run along walls for a few seconds at a time; can soften falls like a leaf or a cat). She has a mild allergy to (gets a rash from) holding or wearing iron for periods of time (not uncommon among her folk and which they ascribe to a bit of far-back sylvan heritage).

Weapons: A cane sword, bullwhip, throwing knives, sharp-edged playing cards that she can throw accurately, vials of an ingestible oil that allow her to breathe fire.
Short Bio: Skye was born to a clannish Scottish highland enclave whose people didn't really think of themselves as United Kingdom subjects in their hearts, who still engaged in low-key Scotland clan feuds going back centuries, and still dabbled in 'the old ways' and passed down certain druidic lore and practices from father to soon, and likewise witchery from mother to daughter. They found themselves relatively depopulated of able menfolk after WWI (some elders grumbled that a government official had taken spiteful notice of their practices and targeted them in a rigged British draft 'lottery' and with especially heavy enlistment propaganda drives).

With the remaining folk left impoverished (and many women alone or otherwise romantically frustrated), Skye decided to lessen the burden of mouths-to-feed on her family, and seek her fortune elsewhere, she literally ran off and joined the circus. She met a lot of kindred spirits like herself: orphans from WWI or the Bolshevik revolution in Russia, a Titanic survivor who mumbles incoherently about a lost love at sea she can't seem to let go of, recently a few American expats fleeing debts from the 1929 Wall Street crash, and so on.

She started and sometimes still acts as a tout (drumming up interest via distributed leaflets, verbal pitches, or provocative sign twirling), but has also 'gotten in on the act'; trained by other circus folk as an acrobat, animal tamer, trick thrower and juggler, fire breather, magician's assistant, and sword swallower. (She also donned a blonde beard to do a fake 'bearded lady' routine when the circus tried a 'freak show' motif).

She also has contacts in several non-traveling urban troupes, such as cabarets in London and Paris, where she sometimes makes extra income as a guest performer (as these establishments tend to operate at later hours than the mostly-daytime-performing circus).

Looks great, you can post her in the CS thread :)

Will work on the update during the weekend to include you in ;)

Is this still open to join? I've got an idea for a lycan.

greypsychman

I was hoping to play a Grimm, like the TV show. They were humans who could see the true being of creatures they hunted nonhuman creatures.

It is still open :)

As for the Grimm, I am not familiar with them but sounds interesting, feel free to make a CS if you are interested :)
